    I see so many reviews complaining about the sounds, you will NOT i repeat will NOT get a module full of stock sounds you are going love they ae edrums with electronic sounds so get you a decent e-kit that you can afford and Superior drummer and get to playing drums, You want perfect acoustic sounds stick to playing acoustic drums and just incorporate e drums with that kit.

    Doesn't sound the greatest, but better than alesis dm10mk2. I think this is a better deal than the dm10mk2. Seems like a really good deal. Big pads and cymbals. Can't be that terrible. Seems reliable. Couldn't really be beat if you put in your own samples or connected it to superior drummer 3

    I had the mps500. As a beginner drummer i felt was really good, the sounds of this one remind me exactly on how that one sounded. Some things i noticed as i was playing more was that the cymbal bell was really hard to trigger and i ended up spending way too much time tweaking the snare dynamics as it was either loud or quiet. Nothing in between. I wonder if those are still issues with this one or if they fixed them. The cymbals look different at least.

  • @patdeniston3697

    Was never interested in electronic drums before but they are becoming more appealing to me lately. I like the different sounds you can get from just pushing a button. If I ever do buy one it will definitely have to look like an acoustic kit. For me the drums need to be visually appealing and the typical electronic "practice pad" look doesn't do it for me.

      I've had an ekit since 2015 and I have 100 loaded kits in the module (each I can tune). When I cover a song, I go to the kit best that matches the original kit that was played. Not to mention I can play while the wife watches TV in the other room (in eyesight) or through the amp. Not to mention it's Wifi compatible with my iPhone and Macbook allowing me to feed Moises and Drumeo tracks through it. Roland mid to upper-level kits doesn't look or feel like "practice pads". I've played the acoustics kit at my local Guitar Center and it's cool, but what I get is all I get there regardless of the song I play.

    Wish it was out there 20 years ago. Don't know the feel, but the looks, the price, and the midi sound expansion choices make it interesting. Never buy the expensive brand with the digital sounds, this is the way to go. I have an EFNote 5X, very happy with it, and I paid 4000+ euros. I would get this one if I knew, but I am pretty sure it wasn't out there when I did my research.

    what difference does the wood and depth of the drums make in comparison to the 850 model which does not use any wood and has very thin pads? how do understand their mesh difference, the 850 has one or two more toms, but a less developed drum synth I think.....
    and then they got the new Christmas edition in white now that they call D2 with two extra floor toms.
    is that an even better choice?
    how do choose?
    Thanks :))
    nice playing!

    Seeing kits like this, I'm convinced that Roland is just gouging drummers. It's a shame. I know that the Roland VAD507 is a much higher quality kit but but at $5,400, ZERO hardware included, and the toms still sound like garbage... GOUGING! Worst of all, is they are suing every company they can, Alesis just ordered to pay them $4 million over the foam pillars...

      Same question. These might as well not come with a module, just USB out as I ONLY use Toontrack and another brand or two, NEVER the built-in shit sounds on the module. I have 100GB INSANELY REALISTIC Library with NO latency because my computer is a beast, so why would I? HOWEVER- need to know, like he said above, if it goes pretty well from 1-127 on MIDI variations and responds realistically

    I'm considering to replace my current MPS 850 with this one, at this point not just for practicing at home, bit also to use it in small live context like clubs, pubs, etc.
    I prefere to use acoustic kits from the module, possibly without spending addictional money to purchase plug-in licences.
    In my MPS 850 I struggled to get a decent acoustic sound in a couple of kits. Are the acoustic kits of the MPS 1000 the same of MPS 850?
    Another negative point I found in the MPS 850 is the hi-hat controller that spins while playing, making the power and signal wires twisting around the hi-hat stand. Does the MPS 1000 bring any improvement in that?
    Thanks.

    I'm interested in how big the difference in volume is compared to an electric drum without a shell. Because the MPS-1000 has shells, it should be louder without amplification.

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      From our experience this is not an issue
      Since you have meshheads on the reso side of the drums as well there is nothing resonating and the sound of your sticks hitting a meshhead is exactly the same as with regular pads.

      Also practicing on a full size e-kit make it easier when you play acoustics because you get a more similar feel

    I’m considering this drum kit for myself as I really would like the Roland VAD series or similar to capture the size and movement around the kit similar to an acoustic kit as I do play live ect . However I want to practice more and having an acoustic limits that . Saying that this kit has potential. I feel like it ticks the boxes of looking Roland with the VAD design , has everything you need to start playing and gives you foundation to upgrade . This with a new module and maybe an upgrade on the cymbals as well as mesh heads … this can’t be beaten at this price point !! And the best part is you can find all of this second hand , super cheap way of getting your foot into the intermediate/pro e-drum experience. Please note this experience will come from upgrading and tinkering around with the kit itself instead of paying 3k upwards . Thank you for the review

    The presets sound pretty meh and at times awful. But if you can swap the module or load 3rd party files onto the module, then this kit would be killer.

    There are 9 faders to adjust the 9 different drums pad levels but there are only 8 direct outs. I know you can adjust each direct out to be whichever drum pad but If I was to use this kit live or to record with the direct out then would I have to not use 1 drum pad out by default?
    Please let me know if you have any idea as I am iterested in purchasing this kit

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey
      First of all the faders adjust the volume of the instruments on your main mix not on the direct outs. There is a separate menu for that.
      The default routing for the direct outs actually uses the direct outs as 4 mono and 2 stereo outs. 1 Kick, 2 Snare, 3 Ride, 4 HiHat, 5+6 Toms, 7+8 Crashes.
      Of course you can change this and use it however you want.
      For example one way might be to group the crashes and the ride and use kind of a stereo cymbal track. That way you will have all toms separately, For example 1 Kick, 2 Snare, 3 HiHat, 4 Tom 1, 5 Tom 2, 6 Tom 3, 7+8 Cymbals.
      This will definitely work in live and recording scenarios. With an acoustic kit you would also have the cymbals on your 2 overhead tracks and it works just fine.
      If you still need all tracks separately You could also utilize the stereo line out for the missing 9th pad.
      Does this help you? :)

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just a little addition: You can switch between mono and stereo outs and if you use the direct outs as stereo the panning of the individual instruments will also affect the direct outs. So if you group the three toms you still have the chance to pan them the way you like it.

    Two questions : Is it louder than mesh-pads ? And could you give it acoustic skins and make an analog kit out of it that way?

    • @ArtOfDrumming
      @ArtOfDrumming  ปีที่แล้ว

      1. No, there is no significant difference in volume compared to mesh pads. 2. Yes you could, but the drum shells seem not to be built for that. So I personally do not think that it will sound any good. But of course you could try. This kit however is built as an electronic kit and the snare for example has no snare bed and no throw off so you would have to drill some holes in the shell for the throwoff, bring in a new rim for the bottom head and also create a snare bed yourself. That's quite a lot of work but you could try. Just throwing new heads on however is not enough to convert it to an acoustic kit. We also did not check the bearing edges.

    This really is a price beater to me. I'm not interested as I'm planning to go with a Efnote3x but if it's under 1500 US nothing will touch it. I like the idea of shells but I don't need a real drum shell look.
    These companies are going to eventually sneak up on companies like Roland. I draw a comparison to the past 15 years or so on Japanese cars and their Korean counterparts. 15 years ago everyone laughed at Korean cars. Fast forward today and what do you see. The Koreans did the Japanese takeover in half the time it took them.
    It's interesting these days as nothing is made where it used to be. To get a Made in Japan Tama or Pearl kit, you way up into the nosebleed price range. I doubt you can get a made in Japan Roland and even the latest Yamaha DTX reinvention as the DTX10 all has badges saying made in China on the pads. I'm saddened by that because I wanted that Japanese quality and attention to detail. The same goes for power tools. You can't buy a Makita tool over here that is made in Japan.
    It's a strange old world now.

      Millenium will never be as popular as bigger brands though, as they don't spend as much, if any on marketing. The low price is because they're Thomann's brand that they're selling directly to consumers with no middle-men. I wish there were more "affordable" real sized e-kits, such as the Alesis Strike Pro SE.

    Unfortunately it seems like the kit isn't really upgradeable. Since the module doesn't have multiple inputs per connected pad, instead it uses a single trigger cable - I couldn't add another tom or another cymbal without having to buy a new module. Besides that I think it's great. I hope they come up with a mk2. sometimes that has this issue fixed.

    • @metalgaming420

      you can add extra tom/cymbal using EXT and Crash 2 behind the module ...or you can buy splitter cable to add extra tom/cymbal..or even connect the module with anothe rmodule so you have 2 modules ...

      Trigger modules, this Alesia in general, crash more often than kamikaze pilots. You couldn’t even build this kit yourself with crap components for $1k, let alone something with quality cymbals and a sheet of good looking drum shells. This is a killer deal.
