For anyone that comes after, the ball is not the problem, never is (unless its cracked but the chances of you seeing that with a ball in situ is rarer than flying pigs), the problem is the limescale buildup on the peg that eventually comes loose and becomes grit that starts to ever so slowly wear away the hole
The newer valves you can just unscrew the knurled brass bit that's inside the tank and screw a new one on, saves a little work depending on your pipework ✌️

Please don’t tell me your a plumber as I can’t believe what I have just watched. Not meant in a nasty way but that could have been fixed for about 10pence. Also the water pissing out everywhere lol. I’m just not keen on people putting vids online with info about how to fix things that are incorrect.

Obviously not a plumber as he says he isn’t even sure he bought the right bit.. can anyone tell me do I just simply shut the water off at the mains to fit a new float valve

@@adamprice9214 yes, unless someone before you put an isolation valve on the inlet pipe before the tank, if not its a good idea to fit one, they make shutting off individual parts of your system without ever having to drain much more than a bucket worth, and thats just so you can keep the pressure off the new float
