Had a eureka moment with this when I was practicing playing the other Box shaped patterns which ties up nicely with your bookend analogy when playing a scale and the CAGED system. In this case the book ends for the major pentatonic Box 1 pattern form the G shape from the CAGED system ie your root notes are on the E strings and the G string played over 2 octaves if you play all 6 strings, the minor shape bookends in Box pattern 1 form the E shape from the CAGED system on the E strings and the D string. If you extend this across all 5 Box patterns for the pentatonic scale you end up with Box 1 Major is G shaped and Minor is E shaped Box 2 Major is E shaped and Minor is D shaped, Box 3 Major is D shaped and Minor is C shaped, Box 4 Major is C shaped and Minor is A shaped and Box 5 major is A shaped and Minor is G shaped. The pentatonic scale you play will reflect the root notes / bookends for each Major and Minor scale within each Box pattern. I hope this becomes a nugget you can use Ricky for a further lesson to us mortals.

Before knowing this I stumbled all over my guitar solos. Sometimes sounding great, sometimes sounding very off. This tip was the key! Thanks for a great video with great things to make it all easy to remember.

My question, what are the short cuts to the 4 other m/M Pentatonic Shapes. I just remember them but there must be a be more elegant way?

There is! And I have videos planned for 2023 that dig into that specifically :)
