The entire group would probably struggle. And there were are. Alone. Facing the greatest swordsman/monster Shinra ever produced. Smirking at us as he's already taking his signature battle stance. Those who didn't play FF VII but played Kingdom Hearts also are terrified. They already know, what to expect : devastating magics, unavoidable dooming spell, and a sword with an absurd reach, swung at an absurd speed. And even if you played neither of those series. And ever since he began taunting Cloud at the start of the game I wanted to fight him, couldn’t hold back my excitement, charged in full aggro mode and nearly got one shot by a blizzaga because I didn’t know he could use spells. Was seriously so much fun though, for background I knew a bit about Sephiroth but I hadn’t played any of the games with him in it, but I did know about the one wing he had and the theme which gave me a general idea that it was a serious end game type character. Also the only Final Fantasy games I’ve played so far are FF 15 which was a great game to get a play trophy on (gotta love parkour in pitch black cave with holes in the floor everywhere and hardly any checkpoints) and FF 7: Remake, and btw are all the game sin the same universe, is it a multiple timeline sort of thing, or are they just taking place at different points in time on the same planet. I love seeing people react to Sephiroth when they're so passionate about FFVII or just gaming in general. It's fucking _visceral_ at this point which always makes me wonder what it must be like for his creators to see, just what a massive impact their creation has made in pop culture. I actually got to see Yoshitaka Amano paint an ink portrait of Sephiroth live years ago, back when I was a senior at Ringling in 2006. He was a guest artist at the school, and I was able to snag a seat at his presentation. He painted a few things as a demo; a Moogle, Vampire Hunter D, Sephiroth, and a character from the then unreleased FFXII (it's one of the FFs that I haven't played so I don't know who it was, just the huge dude with horns from the box art), and donated them to the school. It was absolutely incredible to watch! He also didn't speak a lick of English and needed a translator. During the Q&A portion he gave two answers that were particularly amusing (to me at least): Q: "What made you decide to come to Ringling?" A: "I don't know why I'm here. I just go where they tell me." Q: "What do you think of Florida?" (Ringling is in Sarasota) A: "I like your big sky. I want to see an alligator." Legendary. 😂
As Someone who played the Original i was so Hyped to hear the New Version of One Winged Angel, Advent Children was already Hype but the Remake....ohhh boy
@@hammskie05 wait this might not even be the final version, this sephiroth was an illusion and since ff uses poetic story's this song may only be an allusion to the final version.
Sephiroth, I must ask you? How does it feel too know you strike both terror and elation in not one but TWO worlds across dimensions of space & time?? Lolol this game was so good!! Thank you Square♥
I fought him on the highest difficulty, can't remember it's name. He's not as hard as you'd think, just a damage sponge. He does kill Aerith and Tifa in like two hits though.
But he does look scary sometimes, his eyes are like snake eyes! Sometimes his face is just so dark and terrifying, he's always smiling in a such scary way. I mean... Damn this is hot but also sooo scary!
I can only imagine how great it must have felt getting Cloud and Sephiroth in Smash after being a fan all these years. I'm just now getting into Final Fantasy after seeing how strongly everyone reacted.
All these people paused because they were scared to fight Sephiroth. I couldn't hold in my excitement to fight him with one winged angel playing in the back.
Sepiroth is literally as scary as Darth vader like remeber rouge one were Vader slaughtered all those soldiers Those are the powerful vibes im thinking of for this guy cause hes just that powerful
1:25 All I can think of any time I see this part Sephiroth: Hey, Cloud, you want this building? Cloud: No! Sephiroth: Okay, I'll just throw it away then. *throws it at Cloud*
Final Fantasy 7 remake is still one of my favorite games to watch reactions from, so many amazing moments and great reactions from fans who had been waiting decades for this to happen.
Something I just noticed: when Sephiroth points his sword at Cloud, the camera pans from his side to his front, and he switches to a guard position to signal the fight is about to start, _he looks at YOU (the camera position) first, then switches his gaze a half-second later to Cloud._ Start at 2:01 and step through the video frame-by-frame while in fullscreen and 2:03-2:04 you can see his eyes change target. He's staring at _you_ first.
Not only is it the intimidation factor of sephiroth and the ambiance and overall chilling factor of his music, but how he just casually smacks you around the whole time with an evil smirk on his face like he's insulting your efforts to even try and lay a finger on him because he knows he's a higher being that you are. he does it so nonchalantly you can't help but be both scared shitless and in awe of his greatness and power at the same time. Truly one of the best villians to ever grace a video game.
oh for sure, i had a similar reaction to be honest...it's refreshing to see so many other's had a similar feeling of dread, like i definitely sat in the menu for a few seconds like "fuck i really have to fight him, wow" and NOT IN A BAD WAY AT ALL more like, oh shit it's sephiroth, truly shows what kind of villain he is that he makes us the player actually dread fighting him haha it was emotional as fuck
Somehow I can relate to their reaction to Sephiroth's theme. As a kid, that theme disturbed me in ways I can't describe. Even until now, One Winged Angel always gives me an uneasy feeling no matter how many times I hear it.
Maybe its just my imagination but Sephiroth has always this confident smile, its like he knows that he will win at the end point of the story, he does not act like a stoic world ending villain. he is like "i know how to change the end" and is trying hard not to laugh.
This fight was one of the few fights in a game where it just had me completely immersed and zoned in and it was almost entirely because of the music. I've played through a lot of boss fights but this is one of the only ones I feel like I lived through
I was lucky enough some years ago to attend a FF: Distant Worlds concert with guest of honor Nobuo Uematsu. I found out that night that One Winged Angel is never listed on the program schedule; it's only played by audience request. The audience always requests it without fail.
12 deaths for me. Changing things and materia and equipment. Try going back to normal mode once you beat hard. Actually gets boring its weird. You czn clearly tell the difference in skill needed and having knowing you beat hard. Extra pat on back there
Even the player is struck by fear just seeing him and knowing you need to fight him 🤣🤣🤣 That's why I really think he's the perfect villain of all FF series

Only other boss that took me that much time was Ff12 Yiazmat but at least I beat Sephiroth unfortunately Yiazmat never happened.
@@NeoDeXeno I did Sephiroth on Critical Lv. 50 something. Yiazmat isn't the hardest fight in Zodiac Age but yes, he takes long. With the right strategy he goes down in under an hour.
Cloud to sepiroth :
Lets finish this
Gamers to cloud :
Yepp..we are finished. .
EA : single player games are dead
Sephiroth: Hold my one winged angel
On the contrary EA. I would say more and more streamers are starting to play single player games. Theyre coming back.
When I first fought him I was terrified and thrilled at the same time
Cloud's boyfriend truly knows how to make an entrance.
Plot twist: Cloud's girlfriend...Jenova
Oh man, I remember those days. I still ship them, but I do tend to like Cloud/Zack more because of their history. ^_^
@@MidnightSonnet kinda gay ngl
Whether it's urban legend or actual fun fact that was changed
Sephiroth was originally going to be female but was changed at the last minute for some reason
@@smugscylla4481
No, that's not true. What was supposed to be is that Aerith and Sephiroth was supposed to be siblings.
After so many years, Sephiroth is still intimidating AF.
When literally every gamer goes:
*"Why do I hear boss music?!"*
Not just any boss music. THE boss music.
Once I saw this cutscene I just readied myself and held my controller so tightly because I know the ass kicking I was about to receive from Sephiroth.
Faced Sephi like a billion times and 1:55 - 2:04 still terrifies me. Once One Winged Angel started I was like aw shit.. What an entrance.
I could hear that "Uh oh" coming out of your voice when you said "Do we actually get to fight Sephiroth?"
I love how a lot of players needed to pause the game because of the hype and fear, haha!
The Panic Pause is strong XD
Why is everyone so afraid of him
Play KH1 and KH2 sephiroth and u know why everybody so panic
Especially KH1, what the heck is that slash and damage
@@heklis7959 He's a creepy dude that can mess you up, all with a creepy smile of enjoyment on his face.
@@heklis7959 as was stated in a previous comment, most of the fan base played the original when we were kids. None of us knowing the ins and outs of the game. Just enjoying it for the story. With most of us not having strategy guides, we met many game over screens due to him. That fear was ingrained in us then and now 20 years later that music and his name still strikes fear
2:16, "Oh my god! We're gonna fight Sephiroth"
Cloud: "Shut up!"
Cloud: Let's finish this.
Almost everyone: Oh no no no I'm not ready to fight him.
Who else got recommended this after watching the Sephiroth Smash reveal?
Same right here
🙋🏻♂️
Sephiroth: Arrives
Everyone: Immediately pauses
During the Q&A portion he gave two answers that were particularly amusing (to me at least):
Q: "What made you decide to come to Ringling?"
A: "I don't know why I'm here. I just go where they tell me."
Q: "What do you think of Florida?" (Ringling is in Sarasota)
A: "I like your big sky. I want to see an alligator."
Legendary. 😂
All of them be like "Are we seriously going to fight Sephiroth this early?? l AM NOT READY!"
As Someone who played the Original i was so Hyped to hear the New Version of One Winged Angel, Advent Children was already Hype but the Remake....ohhh boy
The remake adds fear. It adds dread and pure rage. It is sepiroth fully realized
@@chazzwozzio Exactly!
@@chazzwozzio I heard this song before I even got the game, this is the scariest song I've ever heard from an action rpg.
@@hammskie05 wait this might not even be the final version, this sephiroth was an illusion and since ff uses poetic story's this song may only be an allusion to the final version.
@@sometransgal9412 Oh crap I don't even want to think about the nightmare theme in part 2 or 3
Sephiroth, I must ask you? How does it feel too know you strike both terror and elation in not one but TWO worlds across dimensions of space & time?? Lolol this game was so good!! Thank you Square♥

He was absolutely wrecking me on normal. Can’t imagine him on hard mode.
I fought him on the highest difficulty, can't remember it's name. He's not as hard as you'd think, just a damage sponge.
He does kill Aerith and Tifa in like two hits though.
@@maddoxio as he should cause they suck fight me
@@maddoxioWhispers before him are much much worse on hard lmao
Sephiroth is proof you don’t need to look scary to scare people
Just awesome yet terrifying music and scary personality, and a long blank sword.
Everyone when one winged angel starts playing:
Oh shit, here we go again.
All these people paused because they were scared to fight Sephiroth. I couldn't hold in my excitement to fight him with one winged angel playing in the back.
People are scared to fight him because he is the most legendary enemy / boss fight of all time . The greatest enemy of all time
Sepiroth is literally as scary as Darth vader like remeber rouge one were Vader slaughtered all those soldiers
Those are the powerful vibes im thinking of for this guy cause hes just that powerful
Rogue.
A piece of music that causes a primal fight or flight response in gamers everywhere
Sephiroth is literally the definition of beating your ass without even trying
Every other stream: falls back, pauses, shrieks in terror
RogersBase: *goes head first* LETS GO LETS GO!!!
Who else is here after Sephiroth got announced for smash?
That one winged angel boi!! Embodiment of the most iconic villain in gaming history
I rema gaming magazine saying he was the Darth Vader of video games because everyone knew he was coming once the music started playing
Everyone: *Why do I hear boss music?*
Sephiroth: Was I summoned?
Sephiroth: Oooh...Where did you find this strength?
Streamers: I'm not about to tell you!
I cried when OWA hit. Not ashamed to admit it. 25 years of nostalgia from my teen years flooding back.
Everybody: "Omg this is beautiful"
*One winged angel start playing*
Everyone: "Hehe I'm in danger"
Vergil and sephiroth hold their swords the same way
Chara Dreamur but seph is more badass
And Seph did it first
It's a fighting stance that exists in real life.
It's samurai move
@@nickwolf6544 i do that stance when im training in my parent's backyard while shirtless
1:25 All I can think of any time I see this part
Sephiroth: Hey, Cloud, you want this building?
Cloud: No!
Sephiroth: Okay, I'll just throw it away then. *throws it at Cloud*
You know Sephiroth is an iconic and truly terrifying foe when even the first few notes of his theme is enough to send chills down your spine. 👌
The Psycho/Jaws inspired chords really do their job of instilling fear.
Final Fantasy 7 remake is still one of my favorite games to watch reactions from, so many amazing moments and great reactions from fans who had been waiting decades for this to happen.
4:10 My actual reaction if I ever came across Sephiroth for real.
Me too
Something I just noticed: when Sephiroth points his sword at Cloud, the camera pans from his side to his front, and he switches to a guard position to signal the fight is about to start, _he looks at YOU (the camera position) first, then switches his gaze a half-second later to Cloud._ Start at 2:01 and step through the video frame-by-frame while in fullscreen and 2:03-2:04 you can see his eyes change target.
He's staring at _you_ first.
Max just giggling at the prospect of fighting sephiroth vs everyone else being scared is so god damn funny to me lol
His was 100% a fear giggle though. No one hears OWA without that slight twitch of fear in your bones
Max: ::scans Sephiroth::
Game: “Unable to read.”
Max: “Unable to read?!? I can read though!!!”
The part of the music that gave me massive chills was the initial moment those choirs kick in. Holy shit is it sooo good.
I love how they all get excited, but as soon as the music starts, their fight or flight mode kicks in.
no one knows true fear until those 8 notes play
This song is the definition of
"Why do I hear boss music"
The immediate pauses killed me, lol
no no noooooooooo LETS NOT FINISH THIS @nixypuff . This is the best reaction ever
Me: Ohhhhh yes, yes, yes lady!!!!!
I love how everybody scared of him I say that know but I have a feeling that I will shit my pant when I fight him and here his epic theme
oh for sure, i had a similar reaction to be honest...it's refreshing to see so many other's had a similar feeling of dread, like i definitely sat in the menu for a few seconds like "fuck i really have to fight him, wow" and NOT IN A BAD WAY AT ALL more like, oh shit it's sephiroth, truly shows what kind of villain he is that he makes us the player actually dread fighting him haha it was emotional as fuck
*One winged angel plays*
Kingdom Hearts fans: *Starts sweating profusely*
Basically my Vietnam flashback
@@TheDisneyLover58 Same...Same....
100% me
This fight was one of the few fights in a game where it just had me completely immersed and zoned in and it was almost entirely because of the music. I've played through a lot of boss fights but this is one of the only ones I feel like I lived through
The camera work running along side Sephiroth's sword to zooming to him taking his stance is perfect.
All you need is the first two notes to play and the wave of nostalgia hits. Either that or war flashbacks from KH 😭
You chose VERY good picks. I’m happy to see Max and Nyxi here.
Everyone lose their shit and screaming NONONO when they realise they have to fight Sephiroth is the funniest thing to me lolol
Everyone one of us who played the original game when we heard this music got so fing amped up....The GOAT villain and theme song period.
4:12 PTSD?
one winged angel is such an iconic song, I could hear it walking through town and instantly get hyped.
I just died when I saw this!!! This is absolutely amazing and you know it’s about to go down when you hear one winged angel! Perfection!💙💙💙💯💯💯
I was lucky enough some years ago to attend a FF: Distant Worlds concert with guest of honor Nobuo Uematsu. I found out that night that One Winged Angel is never listed on the program schedule; it's only played by audience request. The audience always requests it without fail.
5:56 That girl sounded *exactly* like a velociraptor from Jurassic Park.
No one knows the pain of fighting him on hard it took me so many tries
12 deaths for me. Changing things and materia and equipment.
Try going back to normal mode once you beat hard.
Actually gets boring its weird. You czn clearly tell the difference in skill needed and having knowing you beat hard. Extra pat on back there

Sans, Cynthia, and Sephiroth. The Triad of “You Hear Me Pray To God I End You Quickly”
Even the player is struck by fear just seeing him and knowing you need to fight him 🤣🤣🤣
That's why I really think he's the perfect villain of all FF series
