The one arm one leg push up requires the most pressing strength because *IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IT WITH INCORRECT FORM and you press a minimum of 65 percent of your bodyweight per arm.*
My god man your channel is so incredibly awesome, my favourite TH-camr in the whole world along with George Leeman and CT fletcher, and I have never even subscribed to it? Subbing immediately.

Mind if you do a Tarzan workout routine? Immense rope and rock climbing, especially to gnarly vines and slippery stones, spatial awareness and calisthenics skills, core strength, grip strength and endurance, as well as having the strength of a real gorilla. In the animated movie, he overpowered a full-grown silverback gorilla via rear naked choke. We all know gorillas are ten times more powerful than the average healhty male human, even by powerlifting and strongman standards. Love for you to tackle this, great video by the way!

I'm pretty sure no human can defeat a gorilla like how Tarzan did, irl it would be much more brutal both for the gorilla and human.

Book Tarzan is even better 😂 insane stamina, full Nelson on a lion to the point of breaking it's neck, superhuman senses(his sense of smell being better than a dog = wut), learned to read on his own by learning the meaning behind letters, wrestled Terkoz(the actual Terk, a male that took over the tribe) until Tarzan's scalp was half torn off(healed on it's own IN THE JUNGLE😂), knife wielding badass etc

Good idea to vary things like this especially if it involves high impact moves. Repeated doing of the SAME high impact moves in the same manner can lead to joint problems later in like. Keep things varied to avoid this.

One of my favorite channels, I've been here almost since the start.
What kind of exercises would you recommend for a beginner who wants to gain weight and get stronger overall? Only compound exercises first?

    • @bxmully
      @bxmully 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hell yeah compounds for sure. One thing I did early one for quicker gains due to the kind of workout was to first do compounds at a lighter weight and increase weight till ur closer to your one rep max. Do every set with two or three reps left in the bank. You do t wanna burn out by your third set bc you push yourself too hard. You want more volume and doing it over time with 90 second to 120 second rest periods. Start with like 50% of ur one rep max for the first set and increqse five to ten lbs per set.
Worked well for me early on and I think this way you can develop both muscle fiber types. And result in better quality and quantity muscle. And doing the sets this way primes your neural drive for the heavy lifts in the later sets.
Bench press, squat, deadlift, barbell or dumbbell STANDING shoulder press, BENT OVER barbell or dumbbells ROWS. DO THOSE.

    • @bxmully

Try not to use any supplements except a multivitamin and powdered whey protein. If you can afford it then also try casein protein and fish oil by the brand NOW Nutrition. Casein protein smells really really really bad when it degrades so clean ur shaker out asap after drinking casein protein. Seriously. Lol and good luck on your journey. "Noob gains" are the best. Google dat. Haha
Edit I mean try to stay away from excessive supplements ESPECIALLY bc ur starting out. Seriously most supps don't do much except for whey, creatine, citrulline, caffeine for pre-workout, and one or two more I csnt remember atm. Also you need to eat less than you'd think to gain clean solid muscle mass weight.

I'm a perfectionist too. But perfectionism and procrastination actually go hand in hand. This might have some legit studies to back it up too.
Anyways there is never a perfect time. There will never be a time that will feel exactly RIGHT. So realize your perfectionism may be holding you back. I know it can for me. And with exercise it's a lifestyle thing. And it's about making tiny adjustments daily. If you could commit to twenty push-ups a day. And you add five reps per week. How many push-ups would you be up to in a few months? Now what if you waited bc of perfectionist standards? Get my meaning?
I don't mind giving you my number but youtube doesn't let you do direct messages.
Just get up and bang a few sets out here and there. There doesn't need to be any goal in mind. Your body WILL adapt. And NOONE ever said after exercising "I wish I didn't do that. " it's always the opposite actually haha
I'll tell you what I'm willing to do though. Respond to this saying "yes send it" and I'll send a reply with my phone number and u can text or whatsapp me directly. You seem motivated. Then an hour later I'll delete the message with my phone number so it's not left up here. Cool? Lmk broski

I've been using the Level 1 program in your book and I'm thinking I may modify this as the flush set for push day. I did, however, try an adaptation of this for leg day (though you don't have a flush set for leg day): overcoming isometrics using a leg press machine (because trying to do that with a squat would be asking for trouble), Hi and low quarter squats (there's already been plyometric jump squats in the main program), and wall squats. It definitely burned and I didn't really have much left in the tank to begin with. I'm gonna play with it and try and get the rhythm down.

Incredible video! I've been dreaming of something like this.. but now I've found it I'm scared as I have no excuses!!! Lol
This looks like an absolute killer workout!
I do something like it now on leg day but like u said different exercises. Low Bar Back Squat, Front Squat, Pistols, Bulgarian Split Squats (then Calf Raises). All to failure with Rest Pause sets immediately after each exercise.
Will you be making more of these hitting the other big compound moves? Pullup, Overhead pressing, Legs, Rows and Deadlift type moves?
I presently do Deadlifts, SLDLs, Pendlays, Wt Pullups, Chins, Ring Rows for my pulling workout now. Again all one set to failure with 2 x Rest Pause to finish.
Push days are Bench, OHPress, Incline Press, Arnold Press, Dips or Ring Dips, Ring Pushups, One Arm Pushups or Clap, and LTE's
I think I'll try dropping a couple of my push exercises and replacing with this workout at the end probably for one set. Love it!

There is a reason why *PUSH UPS* and *PULL UPS* WILL ALLOW YOU TO KEEP BUILDING MORE AND MORE AND MORE MUSCLE FOREVER, UTILIZING NOTHING BUT YOUR OWN BODYWEIGHT.
    Let's see why....
Because humans have a limit to their relative strength, for some people this limit is slightly higher than others, but rest assured THERE IS A LIMIT.
*Relative strength is how many times of your own bodyweight can you press, pull or deadlift or squat, or how many times can you rep a large percentage of your bodyweight NON STOP. And yes, humans have a limit to that shit. This limit is why muscle tissue grows at the rate they do in humans, with respect to increases in maximum strength output of any given muscle group*
You can reach that limit after about a decade of training, once you reach it (and whether it is 300 push ups in a row, or 80 pull ups in a row, perfect form, non stop, or 100 one arm one leg push ups in a row and 30 one arm pull ups in a row, each arm, you an reach that strength limit with any bodyweight exercise variation), all you have to do now is make an effort to get heavier and heavier through bulking, WHILE MAINTAINING THE SAME RELATIVE STRENGTH.
If you can do that, you are increasing your absolute strength by getting heavier and maintaining the same relative strength.
The more your absolute strength, the bigger and stronger you are...
Now let's get into the scientific analysis of this...
*THIS LIMIT IS WHY YOUR BODY ENDS UP ADDING MORE AND MORE MUSCLE TISSUE WHEN YOU BECOME ABLE TO LIFT HEAVIER AND HEAVIER*
Because a certain weight of muscle mass has a certain defined limited amount of contractile protein, this *limit* never changes... Because genetically all human beings are the same.
A certain amount of contractile protein, upon maximum contraction can only produce a certain amount of force
In order to create more force, MORE MUSCLE TISSUE HAS TO BE ADDED, the percentage of contractile protein remains constant, so the muscle can't stay the same weight and increase its force production capacity, IT HAS TO GET BIGGER TO PRODUCE MORE FORCE.
*This is why you will never see a 200lbs guy benching 700lbs, ALL 700LBS RAW BENCH PRESSER ARE 300LBS OR HEAVIER, BECAUSE A DOUBLE BODYWEIGHT BENCH PRESS IS ESTABLISHED TO BE THE PINNACLE and limit OF RELATIVE STRENGTH FOR THE BENCH PRESS.*
The bench press world record holders are not just BIG, they still maintain that double bodyweight bench relative strength, they can lift 700lbs because they are heavier than normal people and still have the elite level of relative strength.
If you can reach that relative strength through a push up variation or a pull up variation (you can only do that by repping non stop without resting at all between reps and maintaining perfect form, until you fail, if you rest between reps it becomes something else, you will never fatigue fast twitch fibres that way).....
And then you can keep increasing your bodyweight while maintaining that relative strength....
One day you will be able to bench 700lbs doing nothing but feet elevated to waist height one arm one leg push ups.... It's just facts.
Get to the elite level of relative strength, and bulk while maintaining that relative strength, key to freaky world class strength and size...
The simplest way to do it with bodyweight exercises is to increase your push up, pull up, squat strength all at the same time, that way literally all the major muscle groups in your body will increase in size, contributing to more and more and more total body mass, and each muscle group with the respective exercises will have to lift the weight of other muscle groups, and this will start a chain reaction of growth in your entire body, and you may not see a massive increase in reps because your body is constantly adding pounds of muscle tissue each week, so your reps may not climb too fast, but they will still be climbing and actually you will be getting stronger and stronger without realising it and bigger and bigger and bigger, without having to consciously bulk for the first few years, then you have to increase total bodyweight consciously by eating more food.
*That ladies and gents is the secret of prisoners, and that is why push ups, pull ups and squats are forever used in the military*

The first time round I was burning up on re-entry, I could barely do it the second; and the third, well...
I'm going to need to replace my profile pic.

These push ups are so bad for the wrists
