So many Westerner's are lost due to Hollywoods influence. This is why I think this song is so moving and important today..... to remember our roots and that we are part of nature.

Hollywood?? No - westerners are lost because of their sh!tty governments influence, poor educations, racist attitudes and their own culture and branches of religion. Look what happened in NZ. Maori changed NZ attitudes and more and more people side with them on 8 out of 10 issues. They're relentless. Every other nation could've been like this too. The one thing we don't have to combat so much is gun culture cos we kept the idiots of America's lobbyists out. We got our bilingual units and full immersion schools in reviving the language, tourism, arts and medicinal methods back where the biggest users are actually european. It can be done - but it takes getting real people elected and not selected. Which is why Maori will battle this govt to take on one dweebs little huff piece of trying to remove language and alter treaty principles- a document his people wrote btw, and have gotten out in front of it. And it won't pass. NZs govt values its reputation above all else.
So it's not Hollywood. It's the system, corporations, religious simpletons and poor educations. And the Un-united States is the worst of all the westernized nations.

Depends on the country and culture. Maybe in the US which is colonized and not really part of the west, especially not politically and culturally. And Europe which is the west, is a continent not one single country, culture, people, language or society. I'm from Norway northern Europe Scandinavia, where I live and grew up and here nature is a huge part of our culture, traditions and heritage.

Stan is a Maori from Aotearoa NZ. The tattoo is real - we Maori call this Ta Moko, the hand movement is called Wiri, it shows you are alive and draw on the energy of everything around you.

The hands are 'wiri' (This is Tane-Rore the trembling is the personification of him - shimmering air as he performs a haka for his mother Hine-raumati.,)the tattoos are real, the head tattoo is a taniwha (water spirit, monster, dangerous water creature, powerful creature, chief, powerful leader, something or someone awesome) and it is protecting him. (Long story but this is very real and very spiritual).

Stan Walker is a New Zealander who has been such a strong advocate for his NZ Māori Culture through his music! The movement of his hands, the actions through the eyes and poking of tongues are uniquely part of the culture, New Zealand Maori’s (indigenous people of NZ), have strong connection to the land, they are the guardians of their land! You can do more investigations yourselves now you know where Stan is from lol. The land of the mighty All Blacks 😛

Kia Ora (hello) from Aotearoa/New Zealand. Thank U both for your post. Stan is Maori, as am I. We are indigenous people, our culture had a resurgence in the 1980's, our language was resurrected, revived and brought forward. Again many thanks to you both for posting this. Aroha Tino nui (much love)

Stan is a soul magnet he has the power to embrace you into a spiritual dimension without you knowing it. All souls are ‘1’ but when we lose our way we lose the connection with the waters, oceans and the land then the ‘Unity’ is lost…

Stan Walker, the Levites, and the band are outstanding. To think Stan managed to write the song and produce the video in 2 weeks is nothing more than incredible!! Now that takes talent, creativity and commitment. Stan is an indigenous Maori from New Zealand who won Australian Idol back in 2009. Hollywood, imo is very bias towards certain artists and don't seem to recognise real talent when they see it. He should have won a Grammy at this year's awards, let's see if the Oscar Academy chooses the right candidate for best song and video for a motion picture this year! If Stan doesn't take it out for shear undeniable talent then imo the Oscars are rigged .
