- Shows how to change factory default (normal) Sonoff SV (safe voltage) to ISOLATED mode. Isolated mode means the 2 output pins will not deliver any voltage from input. Output is completely disconnected from input. Instead output will be shorted together when switch is ON and disconnected with switch is OFF.

I want to do the exact same with my fire place. I have sonoff but not sure how I should wire it. The igniter uses 4AA batteries . How’s you do it?!?

I am having problems controlling the gate after installing sonoff in isolated mode. the range of the controller has been reduced and only works within 2 meters of the gate. Do you have any idea?
3:56 Fun Fact. The regulator used in this unit (According to the datasheet) is only capable of 23v with a surge of 26v
5:02 The two pin headers (in between the resistors you removed), is actually a jumper to join the tracks for it to be used as an isolated relay.
Edit: The jumper in between the 2 resistors is for passing power from the 2 pin header just to the right of it and not a bridge for the relay (Apologies, just wanted to clear up any misinformation about the connections to the unit)
Thank You for your comment and facts. Sorry I still don't understand, do you mean by removing the resistor, the Sonoff can NO longer be in isolated mode?
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS On closer inspection it seems that the jumper is meant to send power out of the input on the other 2 pin header. However, you could just solder one wire on the output of the board and one wire on the input side of the board to utilise the relay terminals once the 2 resistors have been removed.
The circuit diagram for this unit is not the best, so I miss read what the jumper does by the looks of things. I will trace the printed circuit for these contacts tomorrow or Tuesday when mine gets delivered (hopefully) and just make sure.
Anyway, thanks for the information in your video, and here's to hoping I can get one of the units installed onto my gate motor in the very near future 👍🏻
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS Apologies for the delay in reply. I have installed this module on the gate motor, works like a charm. I did go a bit overboard with the other IO ports, so I added a beam just incase there is a vehicle still in the gates way as well as the Reed switch for open/closed status, and also a "Door Bell" at the front gate on another spare IO port, which then wirelessly sends a signal to the unit I have in the kitchen for the doorbell chime (best addition I've made thus far, because now the doorbell never requires batteries as well as the chime, as I have these powered directly from my solar system).
Thanks again for the info you put forward in your video, as it gave me some good ideas, as can be seen from this tedious post lol.

It's just a couple of female DuPont connectors in a 2-pin shell.

Not quite sure why you would need to convert the SV to isolation mode. Instead of feeding input voltage into the input positive and input negative terminals, what If you took the two wires you intend to use in isolation mode, and connected one to the input positive terminal and the other to the output positive terminal, wouldn't you have accomplished the same thing without modifying the switch?
Could it be safer in the sense that without isolation the input voltage powering the Sonoff will always be present on the input positive terminal?
I have a problem, I use SV version, I connected a mini water pump (DC3-12V RS-360SH) I feed with 12v and when I start, the Sonoff reboots (it happens the same when you short-circuit outpins). My Sonoff works perfectly with other devices. Please help, thank you
If you are feeding 12V, you do not need to follow this video, because this video is to convert your Sonoff to isolated mode, which means it will convert to a short-circuit switch (like a relay). Does that make sense?

Not the SV, because SV means safe voltage (low voltage - below 50v), you need to buy the regular Sonoff, that one you can use to turn PC on/off

Yes you can, but you will need an arduino too , you use the dry contact from this SV as shown on video to let the arduino know that you want to power up or shut down a pc , then program the arduino to close a relay for 400ms to pc power button, each time you change the state in sonoff. (note. voltages and gnd from arduino/sonoff must be isolated from pc. Greetings from Greece btw
Yes it can. Just connect in parallel to pc's on button wire and set mode on sonoff for non latching.

Use the regular sonoff mini Where you cut one connecties and solderen a wire, that's 5 min. work

www.itead.cc/wiki/File:Sonoff_SV_mode.jpg see you can use up to 250v in isolated mode but you may have problems with the current, for loads as an ac you may need second relay, plus its not practical because you will never know the temperature of your room and its very easy to end up with messy wiring, fire or broken ac electronics.

Most easy way is
1. to check if there is a wifi module for your ac (many brands have wifi modules offered as an extra upgrade).
2. if wifi module doesn't exist then you may search for an Infrared wifi controller like (www.aliexpress.com/item/WIFI-Universal-A-C-controller-Air-Conditioner-air-conditioning-remote-control-CHUNGHOP-K-380EW/32705504444.html?spm=a2g0v.10010108.1000001.7.2ff01b7dl8hOdW) .
3. Sonoff TH16 is always a good option, but its 3rd in list because i dont like the abrupt power loss in inverter ac, in long-term use may cause damage to electronics or pump.
Estou tendo problemas com o controle do portão depois que instalei o sonoff no modo isolado. o alcance do controle reduziu e só funciona a uns 2 metros do portão. tem alguma idéia?
