Wow! I don't think I have ever heard this Pièce sound more héroïque! There can be no finer . . . grander . . . nobler sound than that of a large Cavaillé-Coll at full blast, especially in the hands of such a supremely gifted player. What a treat - indeed, a privilege - to be able to watch and listen to this.
Superb. One of my favorite works... and you did yourself proud. You have a wonderful feel for these early 20th century organ works. But I have this intuition, you've got some original works up your sleeves. Can't wait to hear some of your compositions. CVD
I agree that his performance is marvellous, but I just wanted to say, that there were many composers, who couldn't perform their own pieces (or shouldn't have done it, because they were bad performers).
Merci, merci, merci !
OMG! To think that you have have every nuance of every melody line parked in your head! AMAZING! But then, you are French and Aristede Cavaille-Coll is standing in the wings. Bravo Monsieur!
Thank you for a magnificent interpretation on such a wonderful organ (which I now know to be the Cavaille Coll one at St Sernin!! (When I watched M Dupont's recording of the 1st movement of Widor 6th I wasn't aware of this till the credits at the end!!). All all this wonderful performance from memory!! Bravo!!!
Many thanks. By a country-mile the finest performance of the work on TH-cam. Superb interpretation, and one of the greatest of Cavaillé-Colls. Once again, many, many thanks for posting.
Just learning this Jean, what a fab piece.thank you. Tricky double flats in the middle section. But if u can play it without sheet music it must help!!! I have Dupytrens also, and some of the chord stretches are quite challenging, i have to improvise, but i am getting there for a 77 year old. Playing it on Alessandria, Grand Orgue
It's incredible to hear C-C's genius in any of his instruments, no matter what particular one you pick out. But likewise, each one of them offers a subtle divergence in its tonal palette -- induced by the disposition of stops -- which makes it another unique experience to the listener. In the aftermath, it's no surprise that I'm stuck with playing on the virtual counterpart of C-C's opus from Notre Dame de Metz for over a year without ever switching to another instrument. Your perfomance was pure ear candy... Merci beaucoup, Jean-Baptiste!
Had to hear this to get part of Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil when he plays it to drown out the neighbor's howling dog lol I love it, wondrous
A better interpretation than Alain's and Dupre's ones. He knows well how and where to make use of rubato, legato, staccato, etc... All the young organists should learn his lesson.
This comes closest to Cocherau's interpretation. I like it. Few know how to play this piece properly. I found Demesieux's interpretation wholly inadequate and disappointing, as well as those of many others. Does not appear to be quite an easy piece to perform. The organ is magnificent.
..absolutely beautiful . On a Cavaille Coll organ that still has ventils. The phrasing was excellent and letting the work "breathe" was wonderful

You are one of the three best organists in the world!! I have listen to your works alot...and i say that you are top-class!!!🤗🙏🙏
Absolutely nailed it! You're so fortunate to have such a beast to work your your magic on. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning. This is one of my favorite organ pieces and his performance is extraordinarily moving. Fine work dear fellow, fine work.
Bravo! This ranks with the very best interpretations of this old warhorse on TH-cam.
Splendire exécution, Merci et bravo M. Dupont ! Quel talent. J'adore.
One of the best I've ever listened, (and I have many of it). Bravo!!!
My organist grandfather's favourite piece, superbly played at just the right speed
Absolutely fabulous! Jean-Baptist - your skills are truly a gift! Bravo!

A wonderful performance ,and a shire delight to listen and watch ,Thank you so very much
Excellent - also recommend Sidney Campbell at St George's Chapel, Windsor, on vinyl (Ryemuse, 1965)
Monsieur DuPont plays the piece as though he wrote it. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
I agree that his performance is marvellous, but I just wanted to say, that there were many composers, who couldn't perform their own pieces (or shouldn't have done it, because they were bad performers).
Fabulous. What an inspiration. Thank you!
That is the best organ to play that piece on --- well done!
Fabulous. No further superlatives needed -all been said before me.
Wow!! Great job, very , very well played, every detail is there. Thankyou for sharing, most inspiring!

Merci Jean-Baptiste !
Absolutely fantastic performance. Thank you!
Bravo. What a sound! 👍 ❤️ 👏
Absolutely magnificent. Perfection. No other words.
Ah Franck Le Grand! mon préfèré du romantique quelle merveille à écouter et à sublimer à st Clotilde !! ( évidement )

Love the smooth majestic performance on this beautiful pipe organ.
Most awesome. Thank you for playing it slowly - it needs to breathe - so do we! Do you ever feel like a god on full organ?

MAGNIFIQUE !!! MERCI BIEN !!!
Beautiful beyond words.
What a wonderful command of the rhythm! Great performance!
RIGHT TEMPO (in my opinion) !! It is often played too fast. And excellent performance ! A pity that the Reeds are a bit detuned. Jacques, from France.
The pedal is in better tune than on two recordings of this piece, Saorgin and Murray. But reeds are like that anyway, first to go out of tune.
Totally agreed about the tempo!
Vraiment superbe et musical, merci !
A marvellous performance and video.
Wonderful! Thank you!
Superbe Cavaillet coll.
Perfect... In every detail is absolute....

Thank you for communicating the essence and true meaning of this piece!!! Beautiful!!!
...wonderful interpretation.
I used to love performing this work until arthritis got the better of me.
Merci :-) très belle interprétation

Awesome performance and interpretation
Excellent!!!!
Msgr. Dupont demonstrates there is "better living through chemistry" of composer Cesar Franck and organ builder Aristide Cavaille-Coll.
Bravo!!!
Bravo!
Bravissimo!
20 people need to get their ears sorted out. This is an awesome rendition of this piece of music.
Awesome!
Excellent

I'm a bit confused, how the manuals are layed out: Is it Positif III-Recit II-G.O. I or is there a Copula Positif au Recit?
I-GO, II-Pos, III-Rec, and cop II/III

Some pipes untuned
Not really so - just French seasoning!
