Thanks for the shout out!! I’m going to do an inframe on my personal 6-71 in my bus this week. If you had any questions about anything in the process let me know and I’ll try to film it for you. I’m finally home off the road for two weeks so it’s going to be a father son project.
I’ve just been alerted that 13 hours Stu released a new clip and already 27k people have viewed it. WOW! I am not alone in the love of this project and the DangarStu delivery! Cheers Stu.
It was really nice of you guys to show us the kangaroos. I haven't been to Australia yet, so seeing such a beautiful animal is just so cool! The real star of the show in my opinion is Ed. He's just a good old mutt who loves his dad. I have one myself and she's my best friend. Thank you for the excellent content.
Saw a good trick on a sailing channel: On a shaft seal arrangement such as your rudder seal, one can "queue up" a couple of spare seals on the shaft, ready to go. If the seal leaks you gouge it out, cut it off the shaft, and simply slip the next one home. Potentially saves heaps of dismantling and reassembly.
I know nothing about steel hull boats beyond what I learned from your channel and a bit of Googling. Despite that, or maybe because of it, I love watching you work on your boat.
As an experiment, i gave the prop on my sailboat a layer of LANOLIN this year as protection against growth and barnacles. Time will tell if it works! Congratulations on 100k!
Having Eddie ride in the Land Rover was a definite boost. You keep that up you'll be at 200,000 subscribers before you know it. Keep up the great content I really appreciate it thank you
You may want to weld a keeper over the top of the connecting pin for your steering. If the cotter pin falls out the connecting pin could work itself out. A small piece of angle iron should do the trick. Just cut it off when you go to service the rudder next time. We used a forklift to push in our prop shafts. We also welded some padeyes onto the hull and shaft to attach winches or comealongs. :) Maybe a little late for that piece of advice :) When you go to connect the prop shaft to the gear make sure the shaft coupling is nice and square. Sometimes the keyway will slide towards the prop when you install the coupling. Couple the shaft and the gear and get it as tight as you can by hand. Spin the shaft around three times. It will find it's happy place on the bearings then give it the final torque on the coupling. Worked great for us up in the Arctic. :) I'll save the full safety lecture for another time but for crissakes put on your safety glasses when grinding.
Congratulations on hitting 100,000 subscribers! You are the only guy I know that can take a wire-wheel to the shin and still call it a win :) Oh...don't forget to by more gloves on Monday!

@@DangarMarine Its all good so far. Just a test launch and run on a fresh water canal. I like to do that before I launch it at coast. Congratulations on 100k. I am inspired to start a channel. Great episode! Not sure what was the better part....the dog going for a muck or the grinder shin hickey incident. 😝. Love the pup, love the boat, love the show! I just wish you were closer....I have a Merc 90 I want you to look at 😬.
Ouch! I know exactly how your going to feel tonight when your trying to get some sleep an "Oh, the pain!" Not through nerve induction but from damaged tissue! Heal well! Thanks, Tim
Eddie is a bit of a quiet achiever... what a legend. Great seeing your videos, I look forward to seeing them each week so thankyou for entertaining & educating us at the same time. Congrats on 100k subscribers but I've got a feeling you'll end up with a lot more yet... and watch out for those drop bears...
Another interesting vid, a tip my grandfather told me,when using linseed oil add some turps to thin it,makes it soak in better. keep up the good work, can't wait to see it back floating and running.
Moooore Eddie! That was hilarious after he walked through the mud and his legs were just little sticks. And congrats on a hundred thousand subscribers!
Great video again . Enjoying it from Florida here . Great to see fire in your eyes again too ! I feel you are about to go crazy on this build . Your puppy is too cool man too . I had a beagle named " Teeth And Fur " used to run the river and get all nasty . Worth it ? YES !!! Keep up the great work Brother !
Thanks mate. I feel like getting towards the end does lift my spirits and get me motivated to get this tub floating again. Lots to do still once it is back on the water but at least it will be usable.
Hey mate be careful with the dry ice. Don't put any inside the boat. Or on the deck of the boat it is heavier than air and it will seek the low spots. It will displace the oxygen with CO2 and can be deadly. Good show today. Congratulations on 100K!
First buy a faceshield ,I was a welder fabricator for most of my life and had to see other people suffer eye injuries ! I think I would fix the prop nut in case you ever hit something . Like the show , you are very good at repairing parts to make them serviceable !
I think replacing that whole prop shaft is going to be my only option unfortunately. At least that would also fix the problem with the end being worn narrower than the rest of the shaft too.
I wish I had started keeping a list of the things you are saving for "next year" when I first started watching your fascinating series. I hope the savings in hard stand fees once n the mooring adds up to the demurred costs. :)
About time someone showed those vizi vest health and safety lot how wrong they are. Lots done. Over here you can get a can of stuff that freezes pipes, plumbers use it. Congrats on the subs.
Holy s#it Stu!!! 100k subscribers!!!! Man, so many congratulations are in order. Couldn’t think of a channel or creator more deserving. Hard work pays off. Next stop 250!
OUCH! Greetings from Canada, eh! Close call with the wire brush! So glad your weren't hurt any worse. I look forward to watching your videos every week. Cheers!
Great vid again and congratulations on the 100k subscribers. One thing I used to do in the yard were I worked, was to use a coarse wet and dry paper with loads of water, even a slightly running hose ( or bucket of sea water ), this would clean a prop really quickly. I used that method on some fairly sizeable props, including the two local All Weather Lifeboats, down here in Kinsale southern Ireland. We used to haul, powerwash, antifoul, do the props and grounding plates ( same wet and dry paper ), and have them back in the water in about 2hrs 45mins. Those props never got antifouled, but were polished quite well and twice a year. You could also use an air sander with the wet and dry or use a scotch bright pad again plenty of water. Lovely bit of natural history content too.😎
Love those shades!! Man, that is looking so good...what a difference. you've got so much to be proud of, what a project and the progress! Oh, and keep tossing the odd tune of yours into the vids....love that one when you were wire wheeling the prop. Awesome job!
Hi Stu. Woohoo! 100k! Congrats! Good progress on the boat, it's coming together. Get that split pin in right away next week, and don't forget the gloves on Monday. Eddie's a really dangerous dog, draggin' all that mud around. You'll need to put a mudroom into the boat for him. Dodgy sunnies mate, reminds me of Max Headroom...your way too young to know him. Good to see you with your feet up for a change. Stay safe and keep up the good work. 🐕⚓👍
good progress! never got my leg with a wire wheel but I've had to dig broken off strands out of my face right next to my safety glasses. speaking of glasses i'd go with the square ones of the two given the choice.
Congratulations on the 100,000 Mate. I love your honest approach. When you stuff up you admit it and show it. Makes it a lot more real after all your human. That’s what I love about your channel. Just a humble genuine bloke. Keep up the awesome work. How do I buy one of your t shirts ?

I don't know about any other subscribers, but I'm getting very excited now. Each part that you re-assemble is adding fuel to my anticipation of the back in the water stage of work. Sure happy you found those pesky seals. Really feel for your trouble with that prop shaft. Your idea to ice it down seems to be working. Fingers are crossed for your success with that! Hahahaa! Oh, and I just couldn't get enough of your visit with Damian and Jess. They both are so precious and I never miss a thing they do on their rig. I know you really enjoyed that visit. That visit has been a high point in both of your channels. Here's waiting for the next great visit with them. Until the next video!
Cleaning structural steel with a 6`` cupbrush on a heavy duty grinder it went through 3 pieces of clothing and left his mark on my belly..... know the feeling.....Congrats on your 100k
Great story on the sunnies mate - very few could wear either with style or a straight face, you manage both lol. They double as drop-bear protection, they hate sunlight reflection . . . Congrats on 100k subs!
Great videos! I used to sell Perkins engines to boat builders in Florida...was also a service manager and knew a lot of the guys (and girls) in the boating industries. Takes me back. Good job! Wish I could have been there too. Cheers.

Someone already mentioned it but wear some safety glasses when using those wire wheels, I was on a job where a guy got a piece of wire embedded in his eye. Love your dry sense of humour and the way you always have a beer while you work!, Keep em coming, cheers
I feel your pain! Had to put a new cutlass bearing in a 55 foot boat I was working on. That meant pulling the 22 foot long 2 1/2 inch tempaloy shaft. While we had it out the owner paid to have the shaft inspected and built up in worn areas and turned down and then smoothed. (Glad I wasn't paying the bill). Had to do the same as you and pound the new bearing in place though he did have an Allen Key to lock in as well. The shaft was real pain to get in and out due to its length and flexing. Always nice to start going the other way on a boat project!
Congrats on reaching 100k subscribers ! Nice to see that people in Australia have pet troubles, too. Can we surmise that you chucked Ed into the deep water for a short swim prior to heading home that day ?
No worries about getting the Detroit running once you get into it you find out how easy rebuilding the engine is. We use to do in frame overhauls in the field on 471 Detroits on terex earth scraping pans all the time. We would piston rod assemble loaded in liners and drop them in block.
Oh boy you have a happy muddy dog. I had an Alaskan Malamute that would find either water or mud to play in, want to come over and get in your lap. Things are moving right along for you nicely. Those setup tools for the Detroit are worth their weight in gold. With the manual and those tools setting the rack is pretty easy. But then again you still have to run the rack with it running to make sure the injectors are all not working properly.
Stu, you mentioned overhauling gate valves. The problem with gate valves (even bronze valves) is that salt water eventually corrodes the screw threads that control the gate and you can screw the handle forever and the gate never moves. I strongly suggest you replace them with ball valves. Also, please wear eye protection, I am 76 and three times in my life time glasses have saved my sight. Once from a flame front as I was lighting a water heater, once from errupting hot lead in a mold that came in contact with water and turned to steam (lead completely covered one lens), and once a piece of wire from a wire wheel. The blood on your leg though painful is trivial compared to losing sight in one eye. Keep up the good work, I check every day and look forward to every vlog.
I looked at new ball valves but they were over $1000 each and I need three. Will be interesting to see what condition these are in when they come apart.
Lanolin spray is a good anti-rust spray & lubricant, leaves an oily film on surfaces that you coat, would be good for that flywheel etc, you can get it in pressure pack cans, handy to have a few around & onboard, good to see Eddy.
Great progress this week, Stu. Eddie definitely tried to upstage you this time. Congrats on reaching the 100k subs, too. Also, thanks for thinking about us here in the States with some great video of the local kangaroos. I thought I might suggest you get some extra batteries for the cameras when you order the new charger. Take care and have a good one!
Awesome Stu...I am still celebrating your 100k subscribers from Saturday..I still remember having a blocked carbie in 2015 and searching youtube...and there you were under your house cleaning a carbie and showing me how to do it properly.. my boat was running the next day. Welcome back mate and sorry to see you had to "dance to the music" with the runaway grinder. Beers soon to celebrate for sure :) Cheers
100K! Excellent, and well deserved. Starting to think people will watch anybody work on stuff, as long as they're Australian! I can't give you too much grief about the grinder mishap, I had a 7" Makita grab my shirt and give me a bloody stripe, right across my midsection. Hurts like hell, looks awful, but not very deep. Just deep enough to make a fellow remember...And the glasses definitely up your game, mate!
"Need to get that pin in straight away....so I'll get it next week." Haha!

Use an air chisel with a bolt and socket on the end to move that prop shaft in, Works great for bearings and ujoints as well....
Eddy and the angle grinder were the hero’s of this video. Hope your legs ok :)

Always nice to start going the other way on a boat project!
I'm kinda wishing I had the worn areas built up again now as it would have allowed the bearing to be larger and make it easier to get in. Next time...
Great job on the shaft looks great Danger.
Congrats on the 100k can't wait to see it back in the water looking great
So glad that Eddy added some excitement to your day.. nice legs Eddy.. congrats on the 100k subs.. really enjoying the vids
Congrats on reaching 100k subscribers ! Nice to see that people in Australia have pet troubles, too. Can we surmise that you chucked Ed into the deep water for a short swim prior to heading home that day ?
Thanks Stan. Ed is actually Dave's dog so I just gave him back and said sorry. ;)
No worries about getting the Detroit running once you get into it you find out how easy rebuilding the engine is.
We use to do in frame overhauls in the field on 471 Detroits on terex earth scraping pans all the time. We would piston rod assemble loaded in liners and drop them in block.
It's funny, people often complain about the Detroits being too complex but in many ways they are very simple engines to work on. Thanks again mate!
Congrats stu! Love the board bending apparatus. :) Best wishes from Ohio USA.
I'm glad you're back.
Always exciting see progress made when putting the parts back in. You are doing great work, man!
Thanks mate. Putting things back in is feeling so much better than taking them out!
I would like more video of Eddie. He seems like a wonderful dawg
Lanolin spray is a good anti-rust spray & lubricant, leaves an oily film on surfaces that you coat, would be good for that flywheel etc, you can get it in pressure pack cans, handy to have a few around & onboard, good to see Eddy.
Yes, have a few cans of Lanox around. Can't beat the fleece grease!
Congrats from Thailand!
Dearly enjoyed your last video and this one as well. Thank you for introducing us to Damien and Jess. Cool people and a cool project.
I look forward to your videos every week, keep on going it will be nice to see it done
Congrats on 100k , I can see why , very interesting channel , calm and laid back. Cheers Stu.
My favorite part of my day when u post
Great progress this week, Stu. Eddie definitely tried to upstage you this time. Congrats on reaching the 100k subs, too. Also, thanks for thinking about us here in the States with some great video of the local kangaroos. I thought I might suggest you get some extra batteries for the cameras when you order the new charger. Take care and have a good one!
Yeah, you cant have enough charged batteries and memory cards in this game.
Thanks Mark, looking forward to the BBQ!
100,000 What an achievement. Congratulations Stu.
Thanks Richard!
Nice work Stu, loved the roos
thanks from an overseas viewer for the Roo's, well done on 100k
Congrats Stu on the 100k. Big respect from Birmingham, England
It's always good to have something to remind you. ;)
good to hear stu 100k subscribers and probably more to come another great vid stu
Great vid as always!
Inspiration for shade-tree mechanics everywhere. In spite of (or because of) the mud and the blood and the beer, we know it's gonna get done.
