Man that's a Young "Big O". This is so cool to watch these shows and see a Now World Renowned Professional in their respective career paths, Oscar, Bobby Fisher etc....
God blesses all His children with talent, and this show portrayed that fact with just a few of those in their teens. Mr. Moore was in good form as usual, and the panelists were also a delight.
Not so amazing for the time. Game shows were a much bigger deal in the 1950s and 1960s. IGAS in particular aired in prime time and was one of the most popular shows on television at this time.
@@rrgomes Indeed. This show had some MAJOR celebrities and noteworthy people as guests. I think the impressive thing about having Fischer is that he was still so young.
Gotta love it...a special on teenagers and the host, lights it up! Cultural difference between chess and singing. Bobby Vs Paul Anka. Both became icons.
Garry Moore was an avid smoker, but apparently he was contractually obligated to smoke on-camera on I’ve Got A Secret, because Winston cigarettes was a major sponsor. He also appears to hand out cartons of ciggies as parting gifts to some of the guests. By the way, he suffered from throat cancer, and then died of emphysema. Two of the four regular panelists (Bill Cullen and Henry Morgan) died of lung cancer.
Always wonder how it is for these then kids to see them selves now when they are in there later years. Must be interesting to watch oneself when they were younger
Oh-my-God!!! the actual young Bobby Fisher!! holy blank. The young pianist is incredible and from Julliard !! 🎹 and, i knew it, Paul Anka, with a song with tricky lyrics and rhythm. i was 12 when Diana was on A.M. radio. at the time, that’s all there was :) 😋 🌷

@qaz wiz 18% was actually more than the African-American share of the population in 1958. About 11% of Americans in 1960 were African-American (that population share was about 13% by 2010).
I believe that the advertisements were being prerecorded too ... not so sure about Lip syncing, i didn't notice although it does make sense that he would sing to a recording of the music, no need to hire a band just for 2 minutes of a song
could be later too, anytime until cigarette ads were banned from TV. All the tobacco companies advertised because really all cigarettes are the same like all coffee is same, only difference is what you add for flavor
+Tara Standifer He isn't waving at anyone that I can see. He is snapping his fingers to keep time and, I guess to look cool. You phrased your question so *nastily*.
Chess hero Bobby Fischer, by far the most talented of them all. At the end of the day, he was not crazy at all, if you understand what capitalism is and what kind of massonery is controlling your minds. First he fought against Russia and then against USA. That 180+ IQ chess Einstein needed much more respect.
+utvieweracct I am a chess player and Fischer is my fav all time player. But he left school early (to play chess) was generally uneducated and made absurd statements revealing his ignorance on many matters of the past and present. I love his art (chess) but not the man.

Garry Moore- This great- Anka Lynley and Fischer. Garry Moore was decent man gave many breaks in Show biz. He started on Radio w/ Jimmy Durante of whom a bad word has never been spoken. I must say, that our kids today in these years might take a lesson. The teens of yesteryear displayed themselves with such talent that they are still a model for those today. Unfortunately, we have constant profanity in everything we touch these days. Rap, video games, and people on line who desperately need an education or need to take it more seriously. I can not tell what cycled down first, but we better have a pick up soon. Our kids like those in trouble. They seem to feed on adversity versus reaching a goal of integrity. ( I can be rich by singing about crap or using profanity to acclaim fame!) What happened to real talent? Interviews are so incredibly unintelligent with some performers, that I wonder if they know what year it is? I can not watch some television interviews because I feel I might obtain that stupid genre. Well, let us face truths- we need to be more consistent in values of right and wrong. It starts with the next generation-OUR CHILDREN!

Recognizing accomplished teenagers (and a few pre-teens), is great, but I’m kind of creeped out by Winston’s sponsorship of the show. Get those kids smoking!
We need to do this again for the many talented teens today! Thank you Paul Anka, you did Canada proud.
You’d see pictures of dudes with strap ons. Society is dead
Great seeing the young Bobby Fischer. Thanks a lot for posting this!
Very impressive episode. Most of the teens who had a secret (Anka, Robertson, Fischer, Lynley) went on to considerable fame in later years.
That young, gifted, piano virtuoso! I wanted to hear nore from him! What an inspiring group of young people!

While Oscar Robertson was beaming on that stage, I was in my mother’s womb back in Oscar’s hometown of Indianapolis.
I was in utero then, too, but in Texas.
Suprised no one has said it yet, that that is Carol Lynley from Poseidon Adventure.
So young, an ingenue at the time RIP Carol Lynley
