Shashank Subramanyam is well known as the legend of the Bamboo Flute who specializes in Indian Classical Music. At the age of 6, he started to perform in the general public for the first time in 1984. For over 3 decades, he has performed in a wide range of concerts in India and overseas. He has been awarded Sangeet Natak Akademi Senior Award by Govt of India for the year 2017 and was also nominated for Grammy awards 2009 for the album Floating Point with John McLaughlin. In this video, flutist Shashank opens up his views on the problems in the Carnatic Music Industry.
