Definitely in the top 5 of all hikes we have ever done. In case you missed it, here was another top 5 we did just two days earlier - th-cam.com/video/FUwyC7V_9r4/w-d-xo.html
Thanks! We were too. I think this section is shaded more often than other areas. We thought the park would all look the same, but we were glad to be wrong. Wait until you see the North Rim - may as well be a different park.
Wow! It’s great to see the trail during the day! The switchbacks are never ending switchbacks. The Indian garden is a cool place to have a lunch break and fill the water. You will never get bored of Grand Canyon even if you hike million times. Beautiful video!
Haha thanks! Isn’t it nice to not be hiking in the dark? You did quite the feat though. And you’re right, you can never get bored there. It’s incredible
Friends this was a beautiful video! I can see why it is a top five hike. We are for sure putting it on our bucket list hikes. This was amazing to watch on our living room television. Calls for a a big screen to enjoy the views you captured.
What a beautiful trail. Sadly I have a bad knee and I could never make that trail. At least not the way up. The Grand Canyon has always been one of my dream places to visit. To me it’s one of the natural wonders of the world. It’s amazing what the power of water can do. One of God’s tools.
Goonies never say die! I have a bad knee too, and while I’m not comparing our knees, the great part is that you can still descend somewhat and turn back and it’s still mind blowing. Any bit you get to go down you will love. And agreed - this place is so much more unbelievable than most stuff we’ve ever done. It’s such a special place.
Thanks! Yes, unlike most other hikes we’ve done where you know your mileage, but can’t see the whole hike, it’s rare to see your entire path both ways before you, and yes - daunting!
I went to the canyon years ago. I remember going down pretty far for half a day but I didn't recall where I had stopped until I saw this video. I have a photo of a girlfriend sitting on a ledge near some railings, and now I know its from Plateau Point. I was really suffering on the way back because I foolishly played a lot of racquetball the day before the hike and was sore in the legs. Well on the way back I was getting wicked cramps. From that trip I understood why every ounce in a pack makes a difference lol. Anybody doing this hike should plan careful. Don't take a big pack full of unnecessary things. Nice video
Thank you! Unless it's necessary food and water, extra weight sucks and we purposely put at least one rest day before a long hike haha. Glad to hear you figured out where you went to! This is a pretty great hike
I understand why this place is in your Top 5. What wonderful landscapes you have there, the colors of the terrain, the views ... everything is really beautiful. And at first the first morning light on the horizon creates a really special atmosphere. 😍👍
Between this and the South Kaibab trail, easily two of the best hikes we’ve ever done. Speechless honestly. Same camera the last 7-8 months. Just got better at shooting lol, although we got an upgrade that we’re about to use on our imminent vacation 😂
This by far is the most beautifully recorded video for Plateau Point. I loved the narration - pretty useful! I was lucky to have hiked to this very underrated yet magnificent point at the GC and I hope to go here again next month. BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what camera and lens (seems like a wide-angle one) did you use to record such beautiful footage? Thank you for sharing your work. I am subscribed!
Thank you so much, that is very nice of you to say! This was a phenomenal hike. We wish we could hike it again! I believe I was using a GoPro 8 during this trip, and mixed up the wide / super wide shots.
GoPro is really good for walking, but it is not that great in poorly lit or dark areas while moving. We use our phones too and have a Sony camera sometimes too, but almost all movement is with the GoPro.
This video is exactly what I needed, thank you, guys!❤ I have the intention to do that very path: Bright Angel to Plateau Point and back the very last of October. Excited! (And nervous) ✨✨✨
It's such a beautiful hike. I haven't been to Plateau point since I've done rim to rim, and that would have made for a really long day. Looks like you had a great day, and you absolutely earned your beer and cheese! 😆
It’s like we said, there’s not a lot of wiggle room to explore the side trails unless you get a campsite or the Phantom Ranch. Hopefully next time you can do this or the South Kaibab / Bright Angel route, or Tonto. They all look incredible
“Hey Buddy…not sharing snickers, Reese’s, or anything chocolate.” And then…wow. Wow. So many times I feel like pausing and screen shotting these views.
In all seriousness, that sheep came out of nowhere and spooked us. Definitely go when you can. There is no place like this! Hope all went well with your move.
@@stuntmanjohnny I think it was 6-7 hours. The trail to Plateau was closed when we just went recently from construction or something. Check the park service website to save yourself some grief if it’s still closed ☹️
Hi!! Can you help me with a question? I noticed in the Santa Monica video that your husband is very afraid of heights (like me). He did this trail with you? Is it very challenging? I think about just making the beginning of it. thank you 😍
No problem! Yes, it is challenging, but not for heights. He was fine with it. The trail is very very steep so just be careful how far you go down, because it’s tough back up.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Was surprised to see so much greenery along the way.

Awesome hike. It must be Very daunting looking up and seeing how far you have to climb to the top.
Thanks! Yes, unlike most other hikes we’ve done where you know your mileage, but can’t see the whole hike, it’s rare to see your entire path both ways before you, and yes - daunting!
that is sure a stunning landscape, i bet it is even more incredible in person
It was. No matter what equipment we film with, it never does it justice. Technology is amazing but not perfect.
Amazing hike guys! The water and restrooms along the way are a huge bonus! Can't wait to someday visit the Grand Canyon!
Thank you! Yes the restrooms are definitely nice on this one. The other major trail we did, there was nothing 😜
Wow!!!! Awesome👍👍👍
I can’t take my eyes off the video.
Thanks for your valuable video.
Best regards,
Thank you 😊

I did the plateau point side hike about a year ago… stunningly awesome 👏
It really was incredible! We liked it so much that one of us is doing it again this year. 😁
What can one say but...Absolutely Amazing!! One of those once-in-a-lifetime epic adventures! Just awe-inspiring! Bruce and Otis

You two know that cheese love is a real spiritual thing.
At what time did y’all start going down?
Likely around 6am. We took the first shuttle of the day, which was around sunrise. We didn’t want to get caught after 10am in 120° weather 😂
If indian Garden is at the bottom of the canyon, then going to Plateau Point will rise in elevation so that you can overlook to colorado ?
It does I believe but not meaningfully. It stays at almost the same elevation
@@MagellanandGreyhound thanks! I’m going to test out this route in October when I go.
