    Still the number 1 service pistol. Has never failed to fire no matter what crap ammo I use, I always carry when hunting for that reason. You can't depend on many things in life, but the 226 is one of them. 👍👍

      They put suppressor height sights on the Legion Pro-cut slide. They don't do it here, because then they couldn't charge the non-Legion customers the additional $160 for the suppressor height sights. Oh... and the cost to take it to a smith to tap out the old and tap in the new. What a joke!

      actually, I kind of like that they dont. Suppressor height sights would be an upcharge and as someone who almost never likes the sights that come on firearms from the manufacture. I dont want to be upcharged for something Im probably going to change anyway.

    I like every option EXCEPT; the cut slide… I feel it’d allow to much dirt and debris to possibly get down into the action of the pistol. It’s nice if you’re just taking it back and forth to the range, but if I’m going to be paying that much for a pistol I want more then just a range toy. I’d like to see it pass some torture tests.

      @@rogermurtaugh4766 I have a 365 and I sure don't want slide cuts on a carry pistol or ports of any kind. Enough trash gets in guns already without the ports. If I was shooting matches with a pistol that is a dedicated range gun/race gun to shed weight or add weight depending then it might be different. That is the only reason for me. I would not want it for any other purpose. I know some just want the gun to look cool but a Gucci flash pistol attracts thieves. Flashy guns also put out unwanted glare. I want plain Jane guns. No frills, decorations, flash, or any other garbage that serves no purpose unless the gun is purposely made as a work of art.

    What you're missing in the marketing for this firearm is how the recoil impulse feels. I've always prefered the stamped slide P226 to the forged slide because it has a lighter slide. The lighter slide means less inertia in the recoil impulse and that means a lighter kicking pistol with faster follow-up shots. I'm skeptical of the cut nearest the muzzle. I want lots of bearing surface where the slide locks to the barrel. A pistol ought to survive thousands of rounds and less bearing surface is going to mean the barrel to slide fit is going to loosen up sooner. It's not just about looking cool boys, it has to shoot and keep shooting.

  • @ChadHargis
    @ChadHargis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Kudos to Sig for bringing new items to the market. Yes, us hardcore gun guys know it's just a P226 with a different slide, but it looks different and the optics cut gives you more options than the RXP does.
    I'm sure there are going to be haters. But what can you do? I love my P226, P229, and my P320s. I EDC carry my P229 and compete with my P320 (also slap it in a compact frame and put on a compact slide for great EDC as well).

    I wish my hands were big enough for a Sig 226 but I held one a few years ago and they're just too big. I had given up on finding a full sized, hammer fired, staggered stack magazine 9 x 19 handgun that fits my hands, until I discovered the CZ Shadow 2. Now it's my most prized possession.
    I think the X5 Legion looks pretty cool, especially considering that I already have a Leupold Deltapoint Pro optic and I'm pretty sure that can directly mount to the X5 Legion. I have it on my Canik TP9SFX now that I just bought from my friend because it was cheap and I could finally mount my optic to something. Now I'm realizing that my astigmatism is way worse than I thought, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna bother getting my CZ machined for my red dot or just use the iron sights and sell my Canik and red dot sight. So many decisions...

    I have this slide and I can tell you definitively... YOU CAN NOT put an RMR "directly onto this slide". First off... neither Sig, Holosun or Trijicon has documentation saying that the slide is tapped for a non-standard 6-40 screw. Industry standard is 6-32, and you can pick these up anywhere. Why Sig did this is beyond my comprehension, because some unwitting person will inevitably try to attach a Trijicon or Holosun (both come with 6-32 screws) to this, and strip out a $430 slide. This seems like another case of Sig being different just to be different. Do they ever play nice with others? Secondly... Sig, Trijicon and Holosun don't sell the required adapter for mounting an RMR to this slide. You have to scour the internet forums to find out that C&H Precision makes them, and they cost $65. So... add this cost to your overall purchase price, and your RMR red dot just got that much more expensive. It's inexcusable to leave all of this info out of the conversation, and the 2 customer service reps that I talked to at Sig, had no clue that you can't direct mount an RMR and require a plate. Come on! I swear to God... I don't think the left hand knows what the right hand is doing over at Sig. I used to love them, but they've soured me so bad through this cluster, that I don't think I'll ever buy another Sig.

      I have a Sig -P226 (West Germany ), a Sig P-228 (West Germany ), and a Sig P226 Stainless model. I was thinking of buying the pro slide for my Sig P226 Stainless, but your comment changed my mind. So instead, I will have optic cuts made into my Glock slides and steer far away from the Sig Pro slide. You saved me money and lots of cursing too. Thank you, brother Drums.

    • @footnotedrummer
      @footnotedrummer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thedetective8150 ... glad I could help, brother! A a mechanical engineer... I can now tell you that the reasoning (though they don't know it themselves) for adding 6-40 attachment screws, was to save money in not having to provide their customers with a mounting plate that holds your RMR more securely. They upped the thread count to make up for the fact that you don't have the two little bumps at the front of the RMR site to lock your RMR into. The additional threads from a 6-40 screw (again the one they don't tell you about) is to increase the clamp force holding the RMR to the slide. This doesn't change the fact that they #1: Don't know the thread pitch is different than the screws that come with ALL optics, and #2: They have no clue that they even sell them as a separate item for ~$10.00 on their own damned site. Sure... marketing and the engineers know this, but customer service has no freakin clue, and are useless. God forbid they include the screws with increased thread count or even an Allen wrench to take the optics plate off of their $400+ slide!!!! Because we all know... Sig doesn't make enough money to provide these small details. This is an idiotic move on their part to save money, and it has driven me into turning my head away from Sig for firearm options out of pure spite. Good luck, my friend.

If I were to buy a P226/229 I’d buy either the legion series or the MK 25/M11 just for the finish on them. From what I’ve read, its supposed to be really impervious to the environments/rough handling. My idea of pro-cut slides would be those manufactured by Killer Innovations. The vast majority of companies with high speed milling machines are doing the plain, lightening cuts. Nothing special.

    This might be sacrilege to the P226 purists but if you want to breathe some new life into this model I’d really like to see a 4” slide with optic cut.

    You dropped the ball not releasing a BUNCH of slide options for the 226 during the 40th anniversary.
    Yall should have dropped x5 and comp slides and standalone options.
    Its not too late. Do it.

    I purchased the pro cut slide for a 226 Elite. The slide works flawlessly, but the sighting system is drastically different than the original 226/228/229.
    How?
    The 226/228/229 all have front and rear #8 sights which allow a “center hold” sight picture. The pro cut slide comes with a 6 front and 8 rear. Now there is only a .010” difference in a 6 & 8 front sight, but that alone doesn’t change the FACT that using a pro cut slide on a 226, one must cover the target with the front sight while splitting the top of the rear sight with the x-ray front sight dot. Yes, that is correct, and it literally makes me sick. I own multiple Sig pistols and absolutely none of them require this ignorant and inefficient sight picture. I know many morons will reply to this comment with lame and stupid suggestions about my inability to shoot accurately; but I have been competitively shooting for 31 years and you haters can try bulls-eye shooting with a modified combat hold and see where it gets you when the target is hidden by the front sight.
