At DCI Atlanta, my friends and i got a decibel reader in their circle and it was louder than if you were standing directly behind a jet engine. And it was glorious. I would give my first unborn child to have marched crown in 2012 and 2013
If it was that high then you would at least need to cover you ears or risk having hearing issues. No one would ever want to have zero hearing protection around jet engines. I know because I work on them.

And lets hope their staff stays with them forever, because that Crown brass sound NEVER gets old. I look forward to their first big brass hit every year.
Because it's beauty, style, perfection and exquisiteness are unparalleled and seldom EVER heard anywhere else on this planet. It affects me the same way...
But yet no one writes it out :D I've watched 30+ videos in a row, mostly looking for smth as good as the 2017 one, but will have to Google that DCI means :D
Somethings money can't buy... the triple hop at the end by the director simply says it all. Just watch 2:20 - 23. That's a feeling that can only be explain by directing such a sound..
Oh what I’d give to hear the hit at 2:17 in person. I can’t imagine how loud and gorgeous it must’ve sounded at finals. So well balanced, and you can hear every part of the ensemble working so well together. I love hearing the contras especially, as they don’t always seem to carry well over recordings, but their line is so powerful that you can still hear it over the recordings with such amazing clarity.
Every year this exercise gets better and better for some reason. Can't wait to see Crown grow and develop next year as a brass line, they are all ready the best. I want to see them get even better.
I never expected that at the end. HOLY BALLS MAN! Even their female horns must have balls because that may be the most impressive warmup I've ever heard in 20+ years of drum corps.
It's because they're sprinting the whole time. Moving makes playing another different beast. If you listen to their show, the sound will change a little when they are standing still and when they are moving. It's all tension.
i find it hilarious how parts 1-11 all have about 400 views each and this one has over 30,000. but this video does deserve at least this many views as a minimum
my high school does the exact same tuning/space chords/closer sequence, we have people from crown work with us and write our drill. :D of course we don't sound as good, but our first chair contra made crown's line, and I can see him in this video. :D
tfw your corp doesn't even need screamers cause they're so in tune that the overtones sound like real notes.
Hot take, this is the best brass hit of the decade, possibly of all time.
At DCI Atlanta, my friends and i got a decibel reader in their circle and it was louder than if you were standing directly behind a jet engine. And it was glorious. I would give my first unborn child to have marched crown in 2012 and 2013
how many decibels was it?
apparently more than 150db
If it was that high then you would at least need to cover you ears or risk having hearing issues. No one would ever want to have zero hearing protection around jet engines. I know because I work on them.
@@damienrodriguez94 this isn't a jet engine though. it's sole purpose is to be listened to. worth it
what Erica forgot to mention was that she meant 300 yards directly behind a jet engine
2012: the year Carolina Crown was well and truly screwed.
Ryan Boots Brass can’t carry an entire corps to a championship. Crown 2012 was dirty visually, and Percussion was very dirty. BD beat them fairly
Corbin Buckley but crown won visual tho what are you talking about
Visual, both bd and crown tied. It was colorguard and percussion. Colorguard got 3rd and percussion got 6th place!
Yes they both tied visual. BD bested Crown in GE, guard and drums. End of story
Corbin Buckley 22 > 5
The last 20 seconds has got to be the most powerful brass moment I've ever heard in Drum Corps history. It was amazing to get my face melted off live.
That chord at 2:15 gets me everytime
i need this chord bru 😩
Bbmaj7. Bb, D, F, A.
Cory Gates
U right 👌
Jordan Campos you weren’t wrong. Helps when you’re in the video. 😉
Cory Gates

And lets hope their staff stays with them forever, because that Crown brass sound NEVER gets old. I look forward to their first big brass hit every year.
Amazing. The only hornline that could ever pull off music as exposing as Fanfare for the Common Man. Simply amazing.
I wish every person on the planet could see this at least once in their life. Truly a unique experience listening to crown
That instant cut off is amazing!! So unexpected! Well done!
Why do I still tear up EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS
Because it's beauty, style, perfection and exquisiteness are unparalleled and seldom EVER heard anywhere else on this planet. It affects me the same way...
Amen!!
I have cried and I have had heart attacks, but never at the same time.
This is why i love dci, nothing else like it in the world
Just incredible. I wish more people knew about DCI!
But yet no one writes it out :D I've watched 30+ videos in a row, mostly looking for smth as good as the 2017 one, but will have to Google that DCI means :D
Still watching this. Still getting chills to this day. Deep ones.
His conducting is awesome
i can listen to 2:03 to the end for hours
Somethings money can't buy... the triple hop at the end by the director simply says it all. Just watch 2:20 - 23. That's a feeling that can only be explain by directing such a sound..

This is what will sound when Jesus comes back to Earth
2:16 the sound that the hornline gets at that point is just unreal... It still gets me every time I watch this video.
I've watched this over a dozen times and still hasn't gotten old!
Perfection. Just.... WOW, that never gets old.
It's on my bucket list to sit in the middle of this and experience it in person
5 years later and this is still beautiful.
10 years later and this is still beautiful.
That moment...made my life.
Every year this exercise gets better and better for some reason. Can't wait to see Crown grow and develop next year as a brass line, they are all ready the best. I want to see them get even better.
Well, if you won't say it, I will lol. This hornline is the best hornline Crown has fielded in its history. No doubt about it.
If I was there, I'd pass out from the awesomeness!
good god.
This always makes me smile and almost cry.
I feel so proud and honored that I got to be in the band that year
I never expected that at the end. HOLY BALLS MAN! Even their female horns must have balls because that may be the most impressive warmup I've ever heard in 20+ years of drum corps.
Ill be honest, I am not too big of a Carolina Crown fan, but this..this is amazing.
Tears. That hit is just so godly epic it is unreal....
So much power displayed. Definitely deserved first place finish.
Every time I hear it I get goosebumps!
I'm not even a Brass player, i'm a Snare Drummer. But god damn, this video gives me chills at the end every time.
This is my favorite one by far
It's because they're sprinting the whole time. Moving makes playing another different beast. If you listen to their show, the sound will change a little when they are standing still and when they are moving. It's all tension.
wtf this seriously brings tears to my ears after seeing it a year later
2:16 by definition is musical catharsis
I haven’t touched my trumpet since I aged out in 2015. I feel shame. I’m going to play again tomorrow.
Love the warm up freakin off the charts and Brass 03 your freakin out there love it great instructor
I think I'll watch this about a thousand more times
How is this not the most viewed video on TH-cam ever?
Just got chills watching this
I love the grin on Corey's face.
This is just perfection. I love this corp!
absolute pipe organ.....overtones in ever chord change. wow
Literally no words.
Bruh at 2:07 it gives me chills everytime
Still gives me goosebumps
OMG. Sounded like an f-ing synthesizer it was so perfect.
Wow..I am totally blown away by that warm up....:->
Yeah he did. This is our tuning sequence so everyone plays it.
I'm the trumpet that's usually being stood in front of by Matt. AKA, the one right in the middle of the video :) Crown 2012 :D
"what's drum corps" *shows them this video
Oh my god thats breathtaking. I'd love to be standing where he is and hear that
So much emotion, the guy in the middle reminds me of a pastor at a black church.
One POWERFUL hornline...Love it
Their sound is...just...OMG!!
You also have to realize that they've been doing that same sequence for many months, and that over time they get better and better.
oh my god words cannot describe....
i find it hilarious how parts 1-11 all have about 400 views each and this one has over 30,000. but this video does deserve at least this many views as a minimum
Only the brass staff has those. The number is the year they started teaching at Crown.
I think this might be the best hornline in dci... Ever.
That mello part :O.......
@bill5187 you can due hat only if you are a crown age out or on the brass staff..
That chord at 2:15... It gets me every time...
my high school does the exact same tuning/space chords/closer sequence, we have people from crown work with us and write our drill. :D
of course we don't sound as good, but our first chair contra made crown's line, and I can see him in this video. :D
2:15 was the greatest brass moment of all season
Correction, we have a correction, we have a correction.
@celesteogletree Do you by chance go to Avon High School in Indiana?
Chills.. Every time
Oh gosh, that was beautiful
@ShaMan54321
Sadly not. I go to a little high school in Florida.
Their center of pitch is unbelievable
lmaaaooo their band director was getting all into it toward the end xD
Saxologic yoo whats good
that’s the brass caption
Would you name them? Because several judges and other DCI affiliates disagree with that, namely one who's been around since DCI was founded.
Do not stop recording!!
I love Matt Harloff❤️
Holy smokes!
Beautiful... Enough said
That cutoff makes me cry.
i wonder if the guy balancing the cube plays with them during warm ups so he can feel awesome playing those chords too
Dat Brass!
So this is a mature warm up i might say... FAVRITE SHOW SO FAR!!!
Carolina Crown high brass- the angriest swarm of bees in history.
Have you seen the 2011 version?
dat release...OMG!
Fucking chills run down my back every time.
How do you make this a ringtone?

Welcome to the Brass Cathedral...
It is glorious
