  • Fog or condensation inside a double glazed unit.
    Is it repairable?
    Using a kit, from Condensation2clear.com I attempt to give it a go.
    It helps the Channel if you can hit the 'Thumbs up' icon, hit the 'notification bell' icon and select all.

    Great video, couple of questions, one of my windows is high up, could I drill it from the inside of the house? Is the window still as effective with regards to heat loss etc after drilling? Do the little drying out pellets disappear / dissolve?

    • @eddintheshed
      @eddintheshed  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thanks, yes drilling from the inside is recommended by the manufacturer for high windows. The little beads do dissolve & disappear. According to the manufacturer there should be no loss in performance. I did mine at the end of winter early spring so we will find out. 🤠🏚️

    WOW! Thank you sooooo much for making this excellent & informative video going to order a kit now!!

    Once you've got holes drilled it's easy to exchange the humid air inside the window using a hoover on one of the holes. Do it when the air is very low humidity.

    a great job and neatly done...now i do have to ask is why the unit failed in the first place?,,,perhaps the outer seal around the glass is letting moisture in? and will it soon happen again wonder what is the best way to fix the problem ....i now have several windows that i installed myself twenty years ago that are suffering from condensation ingress and

    Thank you, I learnt something new there and now have another option to offer clients (after trying my self of course).
    I would also loke to add that double glazing cavity comes sealed with an inert dense gas called Argon (sometimes Xenon,) as it is these are more dense than our atmosphere (air), it is a major part of the insulation protecting from the cold (or heat I guess :)

      Hey thanks, already know this & they give it a mention on their website. We're not noticing any issues. 🏚️🤠

    A hair dryer aimed at the glass will work easier and faster than humidity absorbent pellets.

    A window salesman were asking us for £6000 for window replacement in our bathroom.

      Sounds more like a thief than a salesman. This is one of the reasons I do what I do. I don't get how they think ordinary people can afford all this.

    Excellent video. Very informative and is going to save a lot of people a lot of money. One question..... I am see a lot of surface water marks/cloudiness on the inside of some windows, in areas that look dry. Does this kit remove those marks??

    • @eddintheshed
      @eddintheshed  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey thanks. It may not completely remove marks.

    Worth mentioning that these kits will only work on windows that are NOT stamped with a BS (British Standard) tempered glass.

      Yes, they provide all this information on their website & even do a kit for tempered glass 🏚️🤠

    Great video, I have one question, is this kit suitable for tempered safety glass? Every video on TH-cam shows people trying to drill into safety glass only for it to explode.
    After fitting a new door lock one of the panes of toughened glass exploded. I replaced that glass but now I have condensation….I want to drill a hole but I don’t want it to explode! Any advice would be appreciated.

      They do a different kit for that.
      Go to their website & you should see it there. 🏚️🤠

    A couple of questions if I can,So how long did it stay clear for after been fixed? Do you drill the inside glass?

    • @eddintheshed
      @eddintheshed  ปีที่แล้ว

      It occasionally mists a bit but always clears. You drill from the outside but if it's high up you can do it from the inside.
      Full instructions are on their website.

    Hi mate , just wondering, if the glass has breather plugs doesn’t that compromise the amount of cold affect your window?

  • @Mike-ot6lb
    @Mike-ot6lb 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Do you know if the manufacturer has dobe trsts on how this affects the U rating of a typical dg window? Just wondering as I'm dreading fuel bills again this winter

    • @eddintheshed
      @eddintheshed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The manufacturer of the kit has more detailed information on their website. We have not personally noticed any difference in the performance of the glazing unit or our heating costs

    The aluminium spacers already contain a dessicant. Better to try to get his out and dry it off somehow?

    • @eddintheshed
      @eddintheshed  ปีที่แล้ว

      But that's exactly what it does. It's not drying out with what is there. Over a year now & no problems.

    edd how his the window glazing repair holding up

    • @eddintheshed
      @eddintheshed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, I'm still happy with the result. The window does mist up occasionally when it's cold but always clears again.
      With the current price hikes I'm quite happy that it's good enough to negate the need to replace the window unit.
