Hi, great information., subscribed! Question: What is the first groundcover you mention "check out the "Dudlia's" or something like that? (you were speaking of fire landscaping)
Salvia Bees Bliss is growing wild on our hillsides!
Dudleya
I love that you mentioned the water needs of a tree in discussing the ground cover. I have a stunning Birch in area code 93446 and would love a ground cover that does not attract bees as clover does. The water needs have to be the same. Thank you for any suggestion. Best wishes
Native Juncus species (rushes), native Sedges. If you don’t mind going non-native, dwarf Cyperus. These will withstand the copious amounts of water that your birches demand.
Great video with a lot of wonderful information. I watched this video because I'm looking for ground covers that would work great for my garden and I thought I should look for California natives first.
Thanks!
Oh a ground cover Mahonia. Wow. I love Emerald Carpet and Bees Bliss.
You have good taste 🙂 thank you for watching!
This is very informative! Thank you so much for this resource!! I can’t wait to begin.
🥳
Very helpful. Thank you
Do any of these die off and need to be replanted seasonally ?
Does it grow well with a lawn of thyme ? Is a lawn of thyme possible in California ?
Hi! Frank says, "No, these are all perennials and do not need to be replanted if cared for properly. The groundcover woolythyme is partially deciduous in the winter. You can grow it, but unlike on the east coast or in the Midwest, its ugly winter visage will not be conveniently covered by snow."
@@laarboretum greatly appreciated
