I don’t know I have a feeling it’s something different. I’m not a fan of arrow color and I shot cat labs arrow color earlier this year and it was OK. But jury still out.
@@BadFlashesAstrum resell/finish Kodak aerial films according to their website. Both Aerocon IV and Aerocolor III. I agree that the crushed shadows aren’t very Aerocolor-like. All very interesting and a nice retro vibe. The portrait of the dude in the red pants is banging.
@@BadFlashes It's probably Aerocolor III, which normally would be shot at 80 for still photography, or 125 for aerial photography. The high contrast, strong reds/browns, and the greeens man. That's Aerocolor all day. (Try a roll of Catlabs or Reflx Labs Pro 100 at 125EI instead of 100, it'll be close but Aerocolor IV is supposedly a little different somehow.)
I really loved the look of this film. I've shot the 35mm and I didn't even know they had the 120. Just ordered two rolls. Your choice of music on this episode was purrfect! It was ear delicious!
I've been shooting the 35mm version of this film for about 8 months now and I absolutely love it. The colors especially the reds and blues come through with a vibrancy that cannot be matched by any other current film stock. I can't wait to shoot this years fall foliage with it. I'll definitely be picking up some 120.
Good hair day, lets go! Boeing jokes. Protect this man. Colors on this film are so damn good. Great portrait and great pants. FPP killed it with this stock.
I like to try any new film I get a chance to shoot … I’ll try this if I can get it to Ireland without it costing 3 times its original price by the end of it. Your point about the shadows is noted, but often that doesn’t bother me and it does quite well with some pops of colour without being all washed out so that is attractive to me
I'll buy some if my local lab gets some just to support but really you can achieve the exact look woth portra 160 by cranking hue and luminance with a splash of contrast sliders for reds and oranges and reducing magenta and yellow hues
Svema is a great company! Despite the war, they are still producing and selling film. I've had film arrive faster from them than from the West coast to the East coast 👀.
@@BadFlashes yeah their web presence is pretty bad haha. For months I couldn't even figure out if they were still operating until I found their Instagram!
Hey Caleb, what's up with the Darkroom's prepaid envelopes not being OK to use for online orders??? Why would they send out the envelopes but then not want you to use them?
When you place an order online, the bottom of the order confirmation page says do not use the prepaid envelopes or your order will be delayed and you will be charged extra shipping. But on the order sheet that comes with the prepaid envelope, it has a checkbox for "online payment" and asks for your online order number. Just trying to make sure I do it right!
OK-Heard back from the Darkroom: Thank you for contacting The Darkroom. It is just advising that it is faster to print the label vs waiting for the mailer which comes standard USPS mail. It doesn't slow down processing the order. Good to know it shouldn't matter!
Yeah everyone basically jumps to Aerocolor IV for this stuff... idk, doesn't seem quite right to me from the examples I've seen, but I suppose it could be. There is some whispers of Astrum selling Agfa Aviphot Color film, which would be something unique. I choose to believe it is this, and not another Aerocolor IV respool, but there certainly is a good possibility it is.
@@BadFlashes ok i get it i think. it have to be a technical "FPR" (Film-patterned-retarder) film and it is probably a maskless film without orange mask. that is why the reds pop so much. im pretty sure it is the same stock washi film uses for theyr X film. or why would FPP claim that it is the first time its spooled on 120? that means the same film was used inan other format from someone else. otherwise FPP would claim that it is the first time this film was used in any format. maybe i am very wrong. why is it such a secret?
3 mins in … is it Aerocolor? The reds and browns have that vibe. If so, ReflxLabs also do aerocolor in 120 for those of us in Europe.

It’s clearly aerocolor iii … what the negative look like ? Is this an orange base film ?
I’m always impressed with your footage grading, matches the film, keep up the good work
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
thanks so much! :)
Thank you for the vid man! I miss shooting film. It became too expensive for me:( So my Mamiya 645 and my Pentax 6x7 is just gathering dust now:(
