- He refers to Christian Lacroix as his godchild...Lagerfeld is Karl to him. François Lesage is something of a granddaddy in the world of Parisian Haut Couture. The 80 year old is responsible for the embroidery of the big fashion designers,a position he has held for 60 years. His ideas are transferred to cloth by some 50 embroiderers who work for him in a small studio in Paris Montmartre. Seven years ago he sold his company to Chanel. But he works independently for all the big names in Paris. Lesage is one of the last in his trade, and he is convinced that if the last big suppliers go bust,Parisian Haut Couture will also die.
RIP. AN ICON. A TRUE ICON.
Merveilleux Lesage.
RIP Lesage.
A man like no other.
His creativity and visual sensitivity is eternal.
Such beautiful things. An inspiration, a maestro!
Thank you for your creative vision...
Elegant!!
Es lebe das Kunsthandwerk !!!!
Das sind die wahren Künstler!!!!
so sad none of his children wanted to pursue the business and carry on the Legacy that is Lesage... I pray the couture stays strong forever
Would have loved to have met him!!!!
That's good to know but I only made the comment I did because that's what dude said in the video not something I made up... If his son is in India continuing the business/artistry there -- Great! But that's not what was revealed in the video. Maybe Papa doesn't want to publicize his son's workshop so that more big name designers don't all go their directly? Who knows... Again Glad to know... Thnx!
This guy is amazing...but cming from india seeing embroidery is such a normal thing...n way more elaborate then wats shown in the video...
That is not true. One of Lesage's son, Jean Francois Lesage is an also an embroiderer. He moved to India 20 years ago and set up his workshop in Chennai.. brought French discipline to Indian embroidery .. all his staff are Indian and thier products decorate palaces all over. jr Lesage keeps tradition alive
It is a shame his children don't want to carry on his family (and France's) legacy especially since it's what's allowed them to live a life of privilege, luxury and beauty. I be none of them had to have jobs while in school & were able to attend any school they wanted and have traveled the world of their father's little embroidery studio. It's the same for Anna Wintour, her daughter thinks fashion is silly and a wierd but she's also never wanted for anything bcuz of her mother's silly job. Uhmm!
@marky8418 i've read his son runs an embroidery house in India under Francois Lesage. They business does more home furnishing that haute couture. I pretty sure what the Senior Francois does it could be replace. I bet he has Paris Haute COuture Broderie down to a science. No?
