Beautiful ceremony! Love from Canada to Borje, his family and country. I couldn’t understand most of it, but I felt every second of this wonderful tribute. Last week we got to pay tribute to our Leaf hero here in Canada. So wonderful to witness Sweden doing the same! Bless him and his beautiful family. Long live The King!

exakt , sån otrolig tur att han hann o få åka dit och ta emot det han verkligen förtjänade av så OTROLIGT många , otroligt roligt o rörande för honom o hela hans familj . själv grät ja som en fontän o vattenfall när ja såg det , och då är jag inget hockeyfan .

@@bruce8321 they are talking of börjes years in his hockey team and how much that meant to him and the team itself , and how he created a path for coming generations in hockey , also how swedish hockey players left sweden in order to go outside sweden to play hockey , cuz at the time börje started play hockey outside sweden , swedish hockey players was seen as lame players by other countries , but börje showed that swedish hockey player was also something to take to account for , börje himself was not a player that liked fighting on the ice , but he stod his place and never backed down even tho other players hit him hard . thats what they talked aboute and praised him for .

I ate slept lived and breathed Leafs for over 50 years now and our ties to Sweden from Salming to Sundin and Beyond will never be broken. The love we have for Salming is immeasurable in Leafs World, and he will be forever remembered in Toronto.

Börjes wife is thanking for his behalf for the prize and that it’s a great honour. They hope that his love and passion for the sport can keep inspire the world of hockey and the younger generation. Börjes keyword have always been: “Always have fun and never give up.”
The family would like to thank for the love the Swedish people and Canada have given them trough this difficult time. Börje wants to say that he loves you all. ❤️
Met borje as a kid in 1976 outside of Maple Leaf Gardens. I asked him for his autograph. He took the time to give me his autograph and have a chat with me. I've always cherished that moment. I still have his signature 46 years later. What a legend not only in Sweden but Canada too.

Canada loves Borje like no other from Europe. He owned us and Sweden should have a statute for him in Stockholm. A hockey legend for Toronto and the world. We were so blessed to have him here.

The man is loved and admired by so many people and it says so much about him as a person. Borje Salming and Daryl Sittler were 2 of the first hockey players I ever heard of as a child. He is a living legend in Toronto and all across Canada, #21.

You know you're legendary when the entire audience won't stop cheering and applauding, half of them standing there with tears in their eyes.
Börje paved the way for, inspired and is a hero to so many in hockey. Then in business and his retirement and now he's a hero for everyone and anyone he's fighting one of the worst diseases known to man.
THE worst.
You can argue if dementia, Alzheimer etc are equal. But at least we know SOMETHING about those diseases.
We barely know anything about ALS. Mostly that it is a living hell for both the patient and the patients loved ones.
I think Börje fought through the weekend in Toronto and this to not only get a chance to say goodbye but to truly show the world why we must do all we can to learn about ALS

Borje Salming was my childhood hero. He'll always be The King in my eyes. All my thoughts, prayer, and love goes to you, Borje, and your family.
My hero. He made my beloved Maple Leafs as entertaining as possible. It was an honour to witness his greatness. No one should have had to endure what he did during the era of thugs but endure he did and in so doing revealed the steel woven through his body and spirit. His skill as a player was amazing. His skill as a human being was even more incredible.
Borje Salming made Toronto his second home. As he did this he made Toronto a great place if you loved hockey and heroics.

Sverige borde ha en "hall of fame" med alla sådana här legender/förebilder, fysiskt, på en (flera) plats(er) i Sverige; med statyer och ingraverade berättelser, som man gjorde förr i tiden.

Hopefully much of Sweden was able to see the tribute Borje got in Toronto a few weeks ago. It was truly special and was even more meaningful since Borje only had days to live afterwards. I live in Toronto and am a lifelong Leafs fan, Borje will always be a Leafs legend and an example of how to be a superstar player but have class and humility. That's why he is loved in Toronto just as much as he is in Stockholm and the rest of Sweden. Also, the Borje patch on Maple Leafs sweaters that the team is now wearing looks beautiful on the uniforms.

I played for one of the first amateur Canadian hockey teams to ever travel to Denmark & Sweden . A few of our parents learned that the Toronto Maple Leafs were trying to recruit a couple Swedish players. A short time later those players were Inge Hammarstrom & Borje Salming. I followed Salming and other Swedish players over the years (while being a lifetime Oiler fan). 😉 Borje Salming was a tremendous hockey player who played with courage and class. He never quit and gave maximum effort every game.

Never a leaf fan, but enjoyed watching him play.
Living in Winnipeg there's just something about the Swedes and Finn's we enjoy.
Would've loved to see Lars-Erik Sjoberg and Salming together on my team.
Borje was an integral part of my childhood... In my opinion he's the greatest European defenceman to play the game... He was an even better human being...

Ryser fortfarande när man tänker på den matchen i Toronto. Att han redan då var så hyllad i den staden. Svårt att fatta på den tid inga matcher från NHL visades här och inget internet.
Idag är han borta. Han var utan tvekan den som betytt mest för svenska hockeyspelare och att de respekterades i NHL. Chicken Swedes var ett minne blott efter BJ entre i Maple Leafs Garden.

From another Canadian who watched this incredible man from the first time he stepped on the ice for the Maple leafs to the end of his hockey career here...I cannot express my joy for the years he gave us all to now the sadness with his passing....a true legend as one of the best defensemen ever, to Borje the man. It is so sad to see his state at this gala and how he is crying over not being able to speak his own words. ALS is such a destructive disease, and it happens so fast to some people. My mom's cousin passed away far too early because of it. I wish Börje's family the best going forward, and I hope they can continue on without Börje even though it will forever hurt you for the rest of your life.

well , they short described as good as they could what has meant for the family and they hockey itself , and his wife told how he was as a husband and what he mean and has meant for her during his hockey years , and that she was happy he recived and got this prize for his accomplishment in the sport , thats aboute it , he was told he was HIGHLY conggratulated for his prize and how well he deserved it . they also said that they could not express in words nor with prizes how much he deserved what he got .
