Yeah, but she's forcing her vocal cords rather than pushing her diaphram. I know cuz I'm a singer as well, and she lacks confidence in this video. That's why she also pushes her earbud inside her ear. All those things I do when I feel my voice is not warmed up properly, so I gotta save the sound by sacrificing my throat a little bit. Of course, It's not good and that's why when she tries to sing the endings or the parts that require air release, she sounds out of tune, because her throat is sore after the chorus
Actually you can see she is singing live here. There are a few places where you can see plenty of differences from the album version. I'm not a Hilary Duff fan really but I think from watching some of her live performances, her problem is that her voice sounds too much like the studio version (No heavy studio re-editing on her vocals), she also sings over playback so someone tunes her live vocal out when she gets "pitchy".

Im not commenting this to get a reaction out of fans, im just commenting this for people like me who know about being an artist and what its like to LEARN how to sing. It's clearly evident (at least to me anyway) that the music industry/record label was forcing her to transition from acting to singing. (I HAVE BEEN A HILARY DUFF FAN SINCE BEFORE LIZZIE MCGUIRE FYI!!) I genuinely feel like she should have practice singing from her diaphragm and have more practice singing these songs. You can definitely see it in her eyes that she was slightly embarrassed and really frustrated that she couldn't reach those notes. You guys (the fans) have no idea how difficult it is for an artist to reach those notes when they're freshly introduced into music. I love Metamorphosis and was the first album i bought of hers and I know every song on the album. Its easy to notice as her voice sounds very different live. Parcial lipsync is something sooo used in the industry, even Mariah does it.
