I remember I didn't quite understand the significance of it, but I was like, "holy shit that's awesome". And the game got delayed over and over and over again, and when it finally came out in 2007 I was like, "holy shit that's awesome". A year later my girlfriend bought me Clear Sky, and I was like, "holy shit, that's one buggy ass game - but it's awesome". And now, 35 hours into STALKER 2 I can safely say, holy shit that's awesome.

This is impressive by today's standards. Flashlight with dynamic shadows. Stalker 2 doesn't even have that yet. And the physics. Also no to the level that we see in this tech demo from 2003. I love the new game but since I saw that tech demo 20 years ago, it's always what I imagined the stalker game to be. Sadly 2024, delilvered a good stalker game but still not what was being imagined in this tech demo. I'll keep waiting. Maybe in another 20 years.
Its amazing how well most of this holds up even to todays games. I mean hell, 20 years later and stalker 2 does have dynamic shadows on the flashlight. The lighting just doesnt hit as hard in stalker 2. And those physics were what my little video game brain dreamed of. I mean come on, that guy falling on the car the car springs depressing to show the weight of the body was just muah, chefs kiss. We didnt get that back in the day and 20 years on we still dont get it haha
в свое время ожидания от этого проекта были большие, поражала графика, большие открытые пространства, атмосфера постсоветского города и сел, да и многое другое ожидали от игры в то время.
Сейчас 2023 и возможно выйдет и 2 сталкер. И сейчас я смотрю это видео и спрашиваю, что было-бы если бы игра вышла бы такой как нам показывают тут? Были бы другие части как чистое небо или зов Припяти, да и трейлеры того же самого сталкер 2.
I have seen it back in 2005, back that time people still widely used USB-sticks to share some funny videos, ads, movies, cartoons etc. One programmer shared with me his USB-stick to copy videos on my PC. This trailer was among them, it was something outstanding back that time

imagine we kept that gameplay complexity in stalker 2 and actually got vehicles and such.
