Don't worry, I share your pain. I was disappointed too.
KH's story has become too overloaded, focusing too much on the mystery (i.e., the dumb black box). Nomura keeps breaking lore and continuity, forgetting when he shouldn't, making everything a terrible, confused mess. There are no stakes anymore because people are just brought back from the dead, and if you do lose your Heart to the darkness, your Nobody will just grow a new Heart anyway, so who cares.
There is not enough focus on the characters who have now become mere chess pieces. There is also too much focus on characters we, as the audience, don't care too much for, Yozora and Xehanort. Also, he did not let characters shine when they could, like Kairi and the other characters in the trios, overall proving he is not good at focusing on multiple characters' stories in one setting.
So much so that I have to ask why he bothered creating so many when he can barely focus. Sadly, the series has just degraded over time rather than evolving, which is what we all hoped for.
Nomura just wants to resurrect FF VS XIII using Kingdom Hearts as its vessel, which could end up being the series' downfall.
Sorry for the overload, but I had to capture all the errors in the writing; otherwise, it just doesn't capture what has brought the franchise down as time has gone on. Let's hope we have brighter prospects as time goes! With lots of fingers crossed!

100% agree with you here. Let's hope things can get turned around in this next saga if we live long enough to see it end lol.
