  • This is the story of the silent killer of New York City in the early 1900s. Mary Mallon was the first known healthy carrier of salmonella typhi in the United States, and was responsible for a few thousand cases of Typhoid Fever in the city over the course of a few years.

    A question I have always had: How were they able to identify the bacteria or other creatures back in 1907? And perform blood/urine examinations?
