Let's go, reveal all the Maruyama's true secrets!
I freaking love how Maruyama put his free leg against the back of the opponent to prevent him from spinning out of it. Although if it was in Chadi's video, he'd call it fundamental basic technique form.
I'm stunned that Khyar started acting inmiddle of the fight about his nose or something and as Maruyama threw him, retaliated after matte. I don't have a single good thing to say about Khyar the more and more I have seen him.

This is how I throw yoko tomoenage by using my other leg to rotate their body across my own. I literally only learned how to do the traditional style (where uke stays on the same side of your body) a few months ago and I struggle with it. My standard tomoenage often gets this direction change with my other leg getting involved to rotate them to the side because a lot of guys can turn out of a traditional tomoenage. It also helps complete the throw if they stay standing almost more like a "sweep" in BJJ. I love it it works really well for me. I also have long legs for my height so I generally target the "wrong" hip for yoko tomoenage because it is difficult for me to get my leg compressed and positioned as I drop.
I have a similar story. Never really looked into it or got taught it. Just tried to do it one day. Turns out I was using the wrong leg!
Great research man!!! Thanks a bunch.
I see Maruyama, I click like.
3:05 he farted
Kohara also throws in the same direction as maruyama but he mostly sets it up with kosoto gari and tricep grip
Yeah that’s another good one!
Amazing, alwais good to watch and learn from this absolute killer
Thank you for your videos. As always great content. Still living in Japan?
Still here!
It reminds me a bit of Karen Briggs’ Tomoe from way back. The shape is that of Yoko Tomoe, but the direction is typically similar to the more classical Tomoe.
I love Maruyama. But I found when I tried to emulate his tomoe majority of the time no score happens because he mixes yoko o toshi with his tomoe. The problem with that is supporting hand is free to post and help spin out. Catching the arm with the other foot helps but usually isn’t enough.

*am I a joke to you*
