Off the topic of irons but I've noticed you play at Formby ladies quite often...is it a better course than Formby hall? I've only been to Formby hall you see because my local is in Southport
I took a 10 year golf hiatus. In past was a 6 handicapper. Have played blades, forged and cast. Currently play with Maxfli Revolution Red dot mid-size. Nickel cast with chrome plating. Superb buttery feel when hit solid, just like a forged or blade. 2nd favorite behind these were Mizuno MP14 then Wilson Staff Progressive. Looking to go back to more traditional head size/player improvement clubs as mine ate traditional lofts(even a slight bit higher). Now at 51 i miss hitting the 170+ yard 7 iron. Down to 160 at moment but think after another winter of watching your awesome videos I will be cranking them back out there with you younger guys come spring. God Bless and keep up the great content. Sorry for long comment.
Just got my dream set the Mizuno jpx 919 forged, love them. I was using 14 year old Wilson di5 irons for the longest time. For my game I probably didn’t need mizunos but they feel amazing and I love the ball flight compared to my older clubs. I’m sure I’ll have these for many years to come
Wilson Staff FG Tour V6, fantastic iron. Would love to try the newest Wilson Staff Blades or the new Mizuno line...probably safe with the ones I have! Great vid Pete!
I like that you are telling people to not be afraid to look backwards and save some money. I bought Calaway XR OS irons from global golf and I love them. I never thought used irons were for me, but they are amazing and I saved $200.
For the past 15 years ive played mp-32 blades and have struggled. I just purchased my first set and i love my new mp-20 mmc's. So much more forgiving and it still gives me the same ability to shape the ball.
Just ordered the new Mizuno JPX 921 irons and had to have a long and arduous conversation with myself about whether I should use the forged vs HMP. It is wonderful that Mizuno gives you the ability to make comparisons across their models of clubs based on lofts, head length, sole width, offset, etc. Needless to say I went with the HMP in order to allow myself forgiveness which I think is more important for me to continue to have fun playing golf and not be beat down by miss strikes on the course. This video definitely resonates with me for sure!
I started playing with blades then fell away from golf came Back using cobra amp cell irons to the f7s then tried wilson c200 irons (too hard when hit) now I've got a set of cobra forged mb black in my bag love them
I spent 50 hours last winter taking lessons from a PGA pro, then got fitted for a set of Mavrik Pro irons. Absolutely love them. Dream set is hard to call, gonna have to take a couple more years of lessons before I decide that
Just upgraded to my dream irons Cobra forged tec and had a proper fitting by Cobra themselves. I can’t stress to people now how important getting fitted is. The amount of information the club fitters look into is incredible and they made changes to the set up for me I wouldn’t have considered. But when it was done I was very impressed with the end result.
baccattack they are fun. You won’t be disappointed. They are long to. Haven’t played seriously in a few years and even rusty I have added like 10 yards.
I'm currently playing Ping i200. I want to progress onto something more sleek, but have opted to get lessons first. I started as a 36 handicap 18 months ago and made myself a promise that I can get a new set of custom fit irons once I get below the 15 handicap range. I came down to about 24 pretty quickly, but plateaued there. I have am now getting lessons from a PGA coach and my handicap is down to 18. I shot a round of just 8 over par on the weekend, so those irons are looking closer and closer. Setting myself the goal of a lower handicap gave me the motivation to hold off spending money on a custom fit set until such time that I can look at myself in a mirror and say yes, I have done the hard work to deserve these. Love the content Peter.
I am 11 handicap and am gaming HOMNA 747V .. got fit for them from a HONMA fitting centre in Tokyo.I have had them for maybe 2.5 years .. and am totally in love with em.. am not even window shopping for any irons since i got em.
I currently play the 718MB from titleist , 5-PW , I got them from Golfbidder for about €700 and used the rest to buy Taylormade MG2 milled wedges. I've wanted to buy blades my whole life and my big points for irons were : 1) Stopping power & 2) distance control. Also bought a graphite shafted P790 4 iron. Honestly this is pretty much my dream set and im so happy I bought them
Had a bit of a break from golf, back to playing and joining a new club! My irons I used is TaylorMade Burner irons. Helped my drop my score by 10-15 shots, now I play off 13 ☺️
I am currently playing with Callaway Rouge Pro, XP 105 stiff shafts 5-A irons, Cleveland CBX wedges 56 and 60 degrees, Nike vapor fly 3 hybrid, Callaway XR speed 3 wood and Callaway XR speed driver. Its a great set for me at my current game. Light weight and pretty easy to swing
Last year I bought a set of Taylormade p760 irons and I love them. I'm a 3 handicapper and have noticed that the distance control with these clubs are much better than my previous set (Ping i10 irons).
I have a set of Wilson Ultra. A cheap set that would just get me on the golf course. I just started playing May this year (my quarantine activity). Using them, and learning from you and other TH-cam channels, I've been able to get an average of 112. My goal now is to keep practicing, get a couple of lessons and next year get a fitting and new set.
G'day Peter. I've been playing golf for almost 2 years now, and I'm a 16 handicapper. In the bag I currently have the Cobra King Forged CB/MB Flowset 4i - GW... these basically are my dream set, stealth, black, sexy, sound and feel great. I've started getting lessons recently and (to state the obvious) I think it's just repetitions and practice that will help me get around in less shots, as opposed to a different set of irons. So whilst these irons might be "too good for me" at the moment, I love them, i feel comfortable when set over the ball.
I picked up my titleist 690mb set in 2002 - was my dream set, I got them half price a month old - some guy bought them and didn’t like them, still love these clubs !
1:15 I dunno about 20-30 shots off my game, Pete, but I did recently shoot under 90 for the first time following advice I’ve picked up from your channel (and Rick’s, but we don’t have to tell him that 😂) so I can confirm watching your videos does indeed help create better golfers.
Grew up playing Titleist blades. Decided new clubs were i order after 20 plus years. Tried several different types before settling on Mizuno MP20 MB. I'm not a great golfer, but I hit these better than anything else. Maybe I'm more comfortable over a small blade or the turf interaction that I don't get with a wide sole, but I'll gladly give up a little distance to make a clean strike.
Earlier this year I treated myself to my first ever new set of irons rather than hand me downs, I got a set of Wilson D7 forged irons and I am absolutely in love with them!
I had fitting last week. Currently got the ping G series in the bag a forgiving cavity back. After trying all the newest clubs the callaway apex pros came out on top I didn’t think I would be good enough to hit these clubs but the numbers didn’t lie. A fitting session is the way to go 👍
I love the feel of a forged iron, but I’m a 15 handicap. So in 2018, I bought a 2 year old set of Mizuno EZ Forged irons with the KBS C-Taper Lite shaft. I “looked back”. Still got a great set of irons.
I have Ping i210 irons, except my 5i is a Cleveland Launcher HB turbo 6i. I have 2 6 irons. My dream set are, regardless of looks, the one that suits my swing the best and makes me have the most fun.
Got fitted recently for some Cobra airspeed irons. Getting back into the sport after last playing as a junior 10 years ago. Part of me felt almost embarrassed bc how specifically designed they are to lower-skill players, but knowing that they're perfect for my level made me feel comfortable and hungry to get better
Md golf superstrong irons from early 2000s. Just getting back into golf after 10 years without playing. These are great and cost a fraction of the premium brands. Look lovely as well!
Started out as a new golfer 2yrs ago with a set of mp60 irons. I have always been athletic and was a natural at finding the middle of them. After playing quite a few round with friends and there newer, longer, and more forgiving irons I convinced myself that I should try some out myself. So I sold my mp60s and moved on to a set of F8s from Cobra. Distance and forgiveness with them were good, but I could never get over the thinker looking top line of them and didn’t care for the feel. Also, my distances always seemed to vary with the same club like some shots came off the face way hotter than others at different times. I have recently started trying to shape my shots and found them very unpredictable when doing so. I missed the thinner top line and Forged feel of my mp60s, but couldn’t find a set in decent shape that weren’t too expensive. I decided to find something similar and came up with a set of TaylorMade 300 Forged irons from 2001 and I love them. I understand that ability and ball striking capability play an important part to which clubs people should play, but for me it goes back to what I learned with, liked to looked at. F8s are out the door for me! Love your channel, I am a long time fan! My new dream set of irons would be the new TaylorMade P7 MC Irons.
i'm using a set of callaway epic pro irons. Before anyone starts flaming me over the price. Since I'm a lefty I got these new 3 months ago for 33% of the original price. These clubs will last me for some time. I'm in love with these irons every time I hit them
Just bought my first proper set this year, taylormade R11s irons and driver, 3wood and 5wood. Love the look ov them and really nice to play with even though I have only played 4 rounds with them.
Currently rocking the wilson model blades, was a dream until last week when they arrived in the “post”! I get better consistency and same distance as my rougue irons i have before hand! It is literally my putting thats messing me up now. Shot an 85 today with at least 6 3 putts and 2 birdies!!
I think currently my perfect set of irons would be the Sim Max irons. I am a fairly new golfer and my biggest struggle currently is not striking the ball solid. I have great shots but also a lot of total shank jobs. I don't really struggle with distance so I believe that the forgiveness of the Sim Max would be great.
Bought myself some Honma TW747P irons just after lock down was lifted and I must say I'm delighted with them! They were pretty much half price because the TR20's were due out so that was even better 😁
I’ve been a introduced to golf 3 weeks ago now. I have in the bag Powerbilt levelume bladed irons (bought second hand, from the 80s if my research on em was any good). My dream irons currently would be the callaway edge 10 piece set + cutter wedge 56 or 58 degrees. Granted the cutter wedge is ugly, but looks fun to hit. On the other hand, the callaway edge itons are stunning and look more forgiving than the irons i’m rocking, which i’m struggling to hit center since i just began playing.
Top advice Peter as always, I'm using 18 year old mitsushiba irons that were a Callaway x-14 rip off from sport soccer. If they don't perform it's 100% down to me!
Love your videos my duu! Started taking golf more serious 6 months ago. Starting w/ a 25 HCP and now to a 15. Hope to get to 12 by the end of the season. Current Irons: Callaway Steelhead XR Dream Irons: Callaway Apex
Just tried golf about two weeks ago on a date and I'm immediately hooked. Found some Titleist 695cbs, no idea if they are any good but I'm really enjoying learning to use them
Rocking a set 0f 2011 Cobra S3 irons, really like the Orka RS10 CB Irons maybe next year I'll be big enough!! :-) Played 2 comps this year and I have got my handicap down From 54 to 37 (European) Happy days. great work Peter always funny to watch!
I currently play off of 6 and use the taylormade RSI1’s! I’ve been playing for 6 years and these are the only irons I’ve ever bought (first set were my dads)! But my dream set would be the new taylormade MB’s
Gaming irons are Sirxon Z585 And driver is a Cobra F9 only just bought them about a month ago Before the sirxon s in was playing Callaway Rogue and I love those clubs I’m a 18hcp and play about 3 times a week and have a lesson Every Wednesday night My game is improving every time I go out for a round
Hi Pete, love the videos, they are really inspiring me to become a better player and giving me the motivation to keep my drive to be better at golf. What you said in this video about choose irons and your comparison to the shirt really rung true to me as im currently wanting to upgrade to the new JPX range from the MP52 set. Being honest with myself is something i try to do a lot, but with some aspects i feel like it holds be back as i sometimes lack the confidence. There is nothing i want more to be able to control my shots like you do and have the skill and ability to hit those amazing shots and everytime i see your videos they push me to do that! So thank you for that! Keep up the amazing content and come back St Albans way and play at my club Old Fold Manor!
In the past 3 years I’ve gone through 6 sets of used irons. Opted for the diy approach, price range spent about $80 to $350 per set. Different lie angles, grip sizes, shaft flexes, head styles etc. I’ve learned a lot on what works and what doesn’t. However, for the time, money, and anguish I went through I could of easily just went and got fitted for new top shelf set. I will say though, experiment with different types of grips, once you find “the one” it’s a total game changer.
In the Marines, there was a form we reserved for specific functions. We called it the ID-10-T, with ST-1 request form. You needed to fill it out for blinker fluid, flight line, or grid squares.
I have the Callaway Big Berta 2002 with graphite shafts. And a set of beautiful Ping Rapture from 2008 with steel shafts. Both sets bought second hand and both set plays my game. I have not found any newer clubs that feels better for me so happy bogey player I am.
Using the Callaway Steelhead X-16's. Not sure what my dream set would be yet... Something as forgiving as what I currently use I guess. Started playing again after 21 years and and hooked again!
Dream set of irons is going to be the new Taylormade P7MB PW-5 and Tayloymade P7MC 3 & 4. Beautiful irons and they offer a lefty blade so I'm smitten. I've been playing the same lefty Mizuno MP 68's I bought used for 10 years now. Maybe one day I'll be able to drop the $1500 price tag that new irons are now. It's crazy how much they've gone up over the last couple years and it's hard because golf is already so expensive to play. Every time I save up some money I just use it to play more instead of getting the new sticks.
Currently playing the only set I’ve ever played the TaylorMade Burner Oversize Bubble set, 1995. Looking for a new set currently, looking to get a fitting done and hoping/probably going to stick with TaylorMades as they have kept me shooting around a 90-95 for life. Dream set is anything to get me into the 80’s with more distance and forgiveness. The P790, sim, p7mc or p7mb currently have my eyes. Great review!
Currently rocking a used split set! Mizuno’s, MP-60’s for 3-5, MP-33’s 6-PW. I got them super cheap, faces in fantastic condition. Totally love playing with them. Have a set of Titleist 710CB’s I keep at my dads place on the east coast, which is what I learned to play on. Helped make me a better ball striker.
I am using the MP15 Mizunos. Really bladed and my handicap is high. But I believe that if I hit a good shot is because I made solid contact, regardless of the club.
Love the video. I was playing the P790 like them a lot but to many hot spots. Now I’m playing the Hogan Icon irons. I love them and more consistent with spin and distance.
I'm playing Cobra F7 irons that progress from a blade style gap wedge to open cavity 9 and 8 irons, to enclosed half hollow 7 and 6 irons, to fully enclosed hollow 5 and 4 irons. They're a little fugly, but the price was right and they work pretty well.
Current irons: Wilson Staff D200 (chunky cavity backs) Dream irons: Some of those new Cobra 3d printed beasts.. just waiting for a few second hand sets to pop up haha
Great video informative and fun as always 👍🏻 I game the mizuno mp62 not the easiest most forgiving iron but I love the luck and feel when hit in the middle, dream irons would be to be fitted into a half set tigers irons 7-PW and p770 4-6 iron 🏌🏻♂️
Just picked up a set of Cobra Fmax irons and I love them. Super easy to hit. Kind of weird to swing since they are so light, but they allow me to slow down and focus. Handicap 28
Everyone knew there’s a silent r in TR20 right? 😬 ah well I’m an idiot, but you lot are amazing for watching. Thank you ❤️
Off the topic of irons but I've noticed you play at Formby ladies quite often...is it a better course than Formby hall? I've only been to Formby hall you see because my local is in Southport
You are no idiot, just a user of the IDIOT guide to buying irons.
Good video with sensible advice cheers 👍🏼
I have a question.... What putter was that? Is that like a training aid?

My eyes say MP20 my ability says JPX900 which I currently play.
I started golfing just after lockdown. Watched loads of videos. Got my first handicap of 21.0. Now I have played in 4 comps and been cut down to a 6.0
Wilson Staff FG Tour V6, fantastic iron.
Anyone else notice that’s Pete was using the hammer putter 😂
For the past 15 years ive played mp-32 blades and have struggled. I just purchased my first set and i love my new mp-20 mmc's. So much more forgiving and it still gives me the same ability to shape the ball.
Dream clubs, some Wilson Staff Model Blades
Just ordered 921 forged irons. First time I've ever been fit and the difference was incredible. Can't wait to hit them. Great video Pete!
wilson staff blades as i learnt to play with a old set of these
That's what I'm playing with now. My first set. They're vintage 1995
@Flashy Paws Oh you lucky dog! My first 60* wedge was a Wilson Staff JP II It was such a sweet wedge! Enjoy those sweet clubs and wedges!
@Flashy Paws - What happened to the MDCs?
Wilson profile irons (13 hcp) any suggestions on a new iron set?
@Flashy Paws Oooh, sounds nice. Mine is just an old set of Midsize irons I found on Facebook for 60 bucks.
Just ordered the new Mizuno JPX 921 irons and had to have a long and arduous conversation with myself about whether I should use the forged vs HMP. i use old callaway x-14, but my dream iron is taylormade p790.
I have the p790 2019 from around 2 months ago. They are amazing mate I love them
They are a beautiful club and the strikes are so pure
I started playing with blades then fell away from golf came Back using cobra amp cell irons to the f7s then tried wilson c200 irons (too hard when hit) now I've got a set of cobra forged mb black in my bag love them
Using mizuno 919 forged, would love to use blades, more chance of catching Covid than striking blades
I spent 50 hours last winter taking lessons from a PGA pro, then got fitted for a set of Mavrik Pro irons. Absolutely love them. Dream set is hard to call, gonna have to take a couple more years of lessons before I decide that

baccattack they are fun. You won’t be disappointed. They are long to. Haven’t played seriously in a few years and even rusty I have added like 10 yards.
@@amitch2553 ha, I hadn't hit a ball in close to 20 years until lockdown. When the local driving range reopened it was the perfect excuse to get out.
I’ve had a set for a couple month now of sim max and they are one of the best clubs I’ve used
No one cares.

Hammer putter keeping its place in your bag Peter?! 😜
😂
Lol
Concerning behaviour for sure 😂
Hey.... it is a hammer you can putt with. I see no problem here.
Honestly this is pretty much my dream set and im so happy I bought them
I still like my Cleveland launchers. They are a bit strange to look at but get the job done. Bit like me!!
Hey... if she don't find ya handsome, at least she'll find you're handy!
Made me chuckle. Sorry dude.
Andrew Roberts. got them, use them, love them

alot of people started on blades, helps you learn the importance of striking it in the middle of the face
Genuinely shocked at the putter usage! I seen the previous vid, but still surprised you stuck with it! Keep it up Pete. Love all the videos

My new dream set of irons would be the new TaylorMade P7 MC Irons.
just got fitted for my dream set of irons. The P790's. Still waiting for them to arrive. Great video Pete.
I'm currently using second-hand Mizuno JPX 800 irons. They are an absolutely thing of beauties and a real pleasure to play with.
I have Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal. These are my ideal set. Got fitted just before lockdown and taken 5 shots off my handicap. Now at 15
Just got a set of Wilson D7 irons (lefty) and broke 80 for the first time 2 weeks later loving those irons!
i'm using a set of callaway epic pro irons.
Upgraded my irons last year to Taylormade P790’s and love everything about them, love the new line of P770’s as well though
Currently rocking the wilson model blades, was a dream until last week when they arrived in the “post”! I get better consistency and same distance as my rougue irons i have before hand! It is literally my putting thats messing me up now. Shot an 85 today with at least 6 3 putts and 2 birdies!!
Just upgraded to Ping i500 irons, good combination of distance, forgiveness, and enough feel for me. I really have enjoyed playing with them so far.
I have Wilson staff D7 forged irons. Best irons I ever had. I highly recommend them. Wilson staff irons are totally underated.
Currently on Ping G410s driver, 3 Wood, 2 hybrid and irons
Had lessons then got fitting
This time last year handicap was 23 currently on 18 🏌️♂️⛳
Love your videos my duu!
Started taking golf more serious 6 months ago. Starting w/ a 25 HCP and now to a 15. Hope to get to 12 by the end of the season.
Current Irons: Callaway Steelhead XR
Dream Irons: Callaway Apex
Just tried golf about two weeks ago on a date and I'm immediately hooked. Found some Titleist 695cbs, no idea if they are any good but I'm really enjoying learning to use them
one of your best shows you have put together.
Currently rocking an ancient set of dunlop clubs, get the job done and are easy to hit. Dream set is the MP20's without doubt.
I play off 20 and currently play the srixon z585s and love them feel and looks are spot on
Just picked up second hand P760s! At the moment, the Ben Hogan Icons look beautiful and might be my dream clubs.
Gaming irons are Sirxon Z585
And driver is a Cobra F9 only just bought them about a month ago
Before the sirxon s in was playing Callaway Rogue and I love those clubs
I’m a 18hcp and play about 3 times a week and have a lesson
Every Wednesday night
My game is improving every time I go out for a round
Good to see you back so soon Pete. Its gonna be great watching the refreshed game!
Just bought a lightly used set of P750s (I'd guess 10 rounds) for 40% of rrp, absolutely love them.
MP20 MB 7-P & MP 20 HMB 4-6 LUV EM👍
I’m a high handicap and just went to my first iron fitting session the other day. Now, I’m waiting for my delivery of my new Big Bertha B21’s.
Current irons: Wilson Staff D200 (chunky cavity backs)
Dream irons: Some of those new Cobra 3d printed beasts.. just waiting for a few second hand sets to pop up haha
Great video Pete , nice to see you back doing a fun carefree vlog . My dream irons are the ones I have Epon AF tour 😉🏌️♂️⛳️🍻
Just picked up a set of Cobra Fmax irons and I love them. Super easy to hit. Kind of weird to swing since they are so light, but they allow me to slow down and focus.
Handicap 28
