I'm kinda old school and not much into "core" bands but I really like Lorna Shore and Will is pretty awesome. The fact that they do have those Death, Black and symphonic elements, as well as good production is probably exactly why I like them.... And I do like my sad tunes too 😂
Between Lorna Shore, DarkoUS, Fit For An Autopsy, Spite, and Shadow of Intent, the deathcore scene has been churning out more interesting and unique sounding bands than most other subgenres these days. It's like a deathcore renaissance right now.

Very grounded and thoughtful person. Knowing a band is sincere makes being their fan more special. I love the fact that he is aware of subgenre labels, but states that in the end, it's metal and this is how they do it. Brilliant.
The pain remains trilogy was the soundtrack to the last month of my deployment, it means a lot to me and it truly does grasp everything that it feels like and how it feels to just have that pain and loss in your life. It was super helpful on my hardest days. So I appreciate Lorna shore so much for that
He had me at “In Flames”. My favorite in metal too. I need to actually dig in and listen to these guys’ deeper stuff and not just videos on TH-cam. They are pretty good with what I’ve caught. And this seems like a cool dude, sells his band really well. I hope they continue to see more of the success they’ve seen. Best of luck to Lorna Shore.
similar to other metal icons, the genre-bending is so so crucial in my opinion.. the usage of symphonic, blackened and death tropes all in one album, one song in some cases, is what makes this band stand out. you can tell every decision each musician makes is purposeful, love lorna

I love deathcore, but it’s not fresh or interesting. It’s changed slightly since 2006, barely. Like they just added a ton of downbeat and breakdowns and subtracted the solos, and everyone started making false chord guttural animal noises. That’s about it.

I fucking hated Deathcore. I was in NYC with my family and Lorna Shore was playing. My buddy was telling me Lorna Shore was good and I was on the fence. Broke and bought a ticket to have a night to myself. One of the best shows of the year. If you get a chance, see these guys.

Got hear them play Pain Remains I through III at the Theater of Living Arts in Philadelphia this year. Absolutely unreal. Any metal fan that hates on deathcore needs to see Lorna Shore in a live setting, and they will go home with their tails between their legs.

Adam has said in the past that in his opinion the job of the vocalist is to write the lyrics and then sing them. He writes the music, and in the case of the Pain Remains Trilogy, wrote the screenplays for all three videos. Will writes the lyrics. Austin has said that Will gets feedback from Adam and others about the lyrics but does the heavy lifting of the lyric writing.

Not to say I ‘despised death metal’ or whatever, I listened to metal since I was 7, I know what it’s like, death metal was just too much to be my thing when I was a teenager (and obviously no one liked it that I knew, so that was a factor). But since I’ve rediscovered my love for metal, found a bunch of bands, and found an appreciation for Will’s unparalleled talent (imo), I regularly listen to some Lorna Shore. Mostly Hellfire, Nothingness, Suneater, and Pain Remains, but I’m into it a decent amount, thanks to this guy and his passion.
I'm 50 yrs old and I've seen and been into a lot of metal bands that have come and go. And I see some of them that are still active (some should hang it up) and I'm still stuck in those eras. But after hearing Will's interviews, I pulled myself out of that a little. I actually heard Will's interviews before I even started to listen to Lorna Shore lol. I had heard of the band prior and started checking out their live shows first and was like meh. Death metal was apart of my listening to arsenal and other metal bands but never really cared for any 'core' bands. I tried and was like, this stuff is horrible. Gojira is one of my favorite bands and they had Lorna as one of their openers. So I checked out the To The Hellfire video and then I was hooked. I also got into some of these other 'core' bands. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks. Will and Adam are awesome dudes and wish them all the best in the world.
My issue is Deathcore is mainly that a lot of breakdowns ruin the flow of really good songs. Dancing in Flames is an amazing song because its melodic/has great pacing/flows really well/great lyrics ect ect. It could be argued its a blackened melodic death metal track. I think they're a great band, but I much prefer their tracks without breakdowns.. Panteras breakdowns/slams whatever you want to call it work really well for me.. so perhaps its the heavier style with them that doesn't work.. Not sure.. but loving hearing each of their new tracks.
I'm gen x and the tribalism was strong in my day. I'm sure we pushed this ideas on millennial. It is a new time! The blending of genres and breaking down of boundaries and younger generation being open minded is damn amazing! I'll always love my old school black and death metal but I'm loving bands like lorna shore, deafheaven, & zeal and ardor. Just make great music!

Yup. I'm just like you pretty much. I listen to old school death and black metal. Around 2008/2009 deathcore came out. It was new but hit hard. Job for a Cowboy or Suicide Silence. I could hear the guitars and individual instruments. This new deathcore is very feminine, overproduced, and soft. Too much going on all at once.
@@morbidcorpse5954 I had the opposite problem,when it first came out it sounded to me like a bunch of guys who didn't know how to play. I do think the production today is overproduced but that is everybody from every genre. All these engineers think louder is better.
I love the openness to include elements from other genres, but not pop please. That would destroy the genre and the band and everything. We already have too much bass sampling and I've even seen Deathcore bands playing without a bassist altogether. Other than that, I'm all in for the inclusion of elements from other Metal genres: get a thrashy solo, black metal double bass/tremolo picking, etc. Also, I'd love to see the symphonic bits played live with either an orchestra or at least a keyboardist.
I don't think he meant pop PER SE, he was trying to express the focus on rounded production that fills in all frequencies in metal that has been a staple of pop music for generations. My take anyway

Will's clean vocals are pretty good too. I like his cover of Hypnosis by Sleep Token. I prefer it over the original.
Whether you like deathcore or not it's becoming huge for a reason .. it's actually interesting and fresh which is something old metal genres lack .

@@morbidcorpse5954 I had the opposite problem,when it first came out it sounded to me like a bunch of guys who didn't know how to play. I do think the production today is overproduced but that is everybody from every genre. All these engineers think louder is better.

I love the openness to include elements from other genres, but not pop please. That would destroy the genre and the band and everything.
We already have too much bass sampling and I've even seen Deathcore bands playing without a bassist altogether.
Other than that, I'm all in for the inclusion of elements from other Metal genres: get a thrashy solo, black metal double bass/tremolo picking, etc.
Also, I'd love to see the symphonic bits played live with either an orchestra or at least a keyboardist.
I don't think he meant pop PER SE, he was trying to express the focus on rounded production that fills in all frequencies in metal that has been a staple of pop music for generations. My take anyway

The hate with feathcore for me is all the sound effects and keyboard stuff not your singing
I absolutely love the album but imo the trilogy is a bit over-rated
