  • In this video we share with you our process for the terrazzo flooring we did at our project in Korle Gonno. The process is quite simple and we also let you understand why we chose terrazzo over regular tiles.

    I used to lay Torrazo, and we always grind wet, maybe to prevent dust in people's houses. Great video!

    Very informative video on this process! I’m building a 55’ X 60” shop and this finish is exactly what I want. Where do you source the diamond grinding pads and what grits do you use?

    I didn't hear you say anything about applying a sealer to the surface after finishing the grinding process. Isn't that a normal practice and important step to help prevent staining and make the floor easier to clean?

    Water molecules don't expand... They move more and get further from eachother (they become ever so slightly more gas-like if that makes sense)

      It is relative. In some instances, tiles may be more expensive and in others terrazzo. Also the cost of the tiles you choose will also affect the cost. We will be doing a video on this in the coming days with a more comprehensive breakdown of the two.

    I’m confused. I though moisture was the number one enemy for terrazzo flooring. Also those measuring lines in my opinion are unsightly. One uneven surface / finish would have been great. Apart from that great job and presentation. Thanks

    nice work. But doesnt all that water flooded before pouring the terrazzo make the mix weak?

      i does this job,the mix gets dry quickly if you dont pour enough water.that means it will be difficult for you to level up when rolling since the cast will be dried up or can cost you alot of time

      Cement actually dries harder when it’s very wet. The water cures the mix.

      @@TimKollat the water is needed for the cement to make a proper bond...it also aids in the curing process ...water pulls it together as it evaporates..

      @@alexmontego3115 Hi Alex.. after flooding the floor we always make a slurry with cement then pour the Terrazzo...
      This reduces color loss.. too much water will weaken the pigment when using just water...food for thought...

    My terrazzo was done and it was not a good job. My question is can it be completely redone?

      Yes, the work can be redone. The only issue would be to break the floor to remove the old terrazzo work and then redo it. The terrazzo is quite hard so cutting it is a job in itself.

      The cost will vary depending on the area and the quality of finish. In some cases, terrazzo will be more expensive and in others, tiles.
