  • Most birds have jaw muscles that are designed to close tightly around their food, like grabbing berries off a tree, or crushing seeds. But in blackbirds, or those in the icterid family, their muscles have the opposite strength.

    i watch grackles poking around in my yard all day, i never realized!! and i only recently learned they were in the icterediae family, and that oropendolas even existed omg - love their faces! thanks for this video :D
