At the 4:25 mark when the top plate is set down on the table you can see it is extremely warped. This product featured in this video has not eliminated the warping issue as you will still need to buy plates. Yes it shows their plate not warping but you will still need to replace the top plate.
Hi Vicky. Thank you for your comment but we don't consider the clear pink Deck in this video as being "extremely warped". If you look at the 9:53 mark, you will see the same pink top cutting deck after 14 runs through the Big Shot machine. It doesn't have any scratches and is definitely not what most people would call "extremely warped". Then at the 14:07 mark, after an additional 11 mores passes through the high-pressure, Vagabond, the same pink cutting deck still does not have any scratches and is still not what would be considered "extremely warped". But we have three solutions if you want to extend the life of your clear cutting deck. 1. Flip and rotate the clear cutting deck after every few passes. 2. Make your sandwich with the clear deck next to the bottom platform, then place the die facing up, paper facing down and the PRO Deck on top. We stacked our sandwich with the PRO Deck next to the platform and the clear deck on top because most people like to see where to place the die on the paper before cutting. 3. Stack the sandwich with the platform at the bottom, clear cutting deck, die facing up, paper facing down and a MAGNETIC PRO Deck on top. The MAGNETIC PRO Deck would allow you to place the paper on the MAGNETIC PRO Deck then place your die where you want it before flipping the MAGNETIC PRO Deck and placing it on top of the clear deck and running it through your Big Shot standard die cutting machine.
This looks fabulous, I was just wondering is this a step up from the original clearish self healing mat you brought out. I have been using this and it's certainly saving my clear plates but it has warped considerably in the middle which is a shame

The Original i-Mend is our entry level self-mending die cutting surface but if you do a lot of die cutting then you definitely would enjoy our PRO or MAGNETIC PRO Deck. Not sure what I was supposed to notice. Was I to marvel at my plates not warping? I saw a magnetic plate being used numerous times within a 30 minute video. Different cutting machines were used. I have cutting plates(with or without magnetic plates) that I've used more times than you did during 30 minutes and they still work just fine. Now, if you come out with a cutting plate that removes ALL those tiny scrap pieces in an intricate die in one cut, the you've got a terrific tool.
Hi Bobbye. You didn't mention what die cutting machine you use but we do know that standard cutting plates tend to warp and scratch quickly with machines like the Gemini Jr. and Vagabond 1 machines. Many Gemini Jr. users often need to replace their cutting plates every month which can become very expensive. We invented the solution with a self-mending cutting deck that resists warping. We didn't think that anyone would want to watch a video showing the PRO Deck cutting close to 2,000 times but our test PRO Deck is still performing beautifully. We like your idea of something that removes all of those tiny scrap pieces from intricate dies.
I am happy to see a video about this. I would have been curious how it looked using big thick nesting dies. The top plastic shim that you used with the first machine did bend though. What alternative do you have for that? I am really so excited about this magnetic shim 🥰
We aren't clear as to what you are referring to when you say "big thick nesting dies". Regarding the "top plastic shim" we assume that you are referring to the Translucent Pink Cutting Deck that we used. It actually shows virtually no bending. Our recommendation is to flip and rotate the top hard cutting deck often if you start to see any bending. We ran it through the Big Shot and the Vagabond I and both the Translucent Pink Cutting Deck and MAGNETIC PRO Deck showed virtually no bending.
I asked that same question and was told to check with Anna Griffin (maker of Empress.) They said they could not guarantee it would safely cut, so I only use this with Gemini Jr. Hope this helps.
Hi Michelle. We have tested our PRO Decks with the Empress machine and have a recommended sandwich: Beginning from the bottom: 1 Plastic Shim, A Plate, Die facing up, Paper facing down, PRO Deck. Depending on how intricate the die design is and the thickness of the cardstock you may need to use an additional Shim. We also do not recommend the PRO Decks with very heavy cardstock such as glitter cardstock. I noticed that the dimensions are double that of a regular Sizzix Big Shot Clear plate - does that mean it won't be able to be used with the new style Big Shot platforms? (the ones without tabs)
Our PRO Decks will work with the Sizzix Big Shot Multipurpose Platform. If you are referencing their magnetic platform as the "new style Big Shot platform" then no, it will not work with their magnetic platform. Your Big Shot should have originally come with a Multipurpose Platform. Just flip away the top tab and either of our PRO Decks will work fine.
