Milan is often the last stop for migrants trying to get out of Italy and into other parts of Europe. Milan’s central station, with its daily trains bound for the other side of the border, is a key strategic gateway out of the country.
European Union immigration law prevents asylum seekers from being able to simply buy a ticket and hop on a train. The Dublin Regulation stipulates that migrants have to stay in the country where they first claimed asylum. As a result, Italy is filling up with migrants who came by boat and don't want to stay there, as the country is notoriously bad at integrating immigrants into society.

It's freaking ridiculous how people expect Italy to hand out citizenship for free.
Many people work hard to get a citizenship in Italy after immigrating legally, and somehow people who made the wrong call to take the path of dangerous illegal entry is to be awarded citizenship because they came unsafely?
How is that ever fair for the people who abide law and work hard?

As a legal immigrant myself, the more I watch Vice the more I start to understand the far right.
A thing that pisses me off is the fact that illegal immigrants hate the conditions they're living in their new country but then don't tell family back home that there is no point in illegally crossing the border.
Additionally to this, I hate the attitude of 'I ran from somewhere so I deserve this.'
No one deserves anything, you work for it.
Let's be honest, entering a country without legal documentation, health records or employment/criminal history - do you really expect an employer to employe you?
People need to start realising that controlling borders isn't 'racist' but beneficial to society as a whole.
Do we really need more and more illegal immigrants sitting around doing nothing or legal immigrants who understand that nothing is given to them and integrate well into our society?
Far left, take a moment to understand the far right. They might be too extreme and lack proper control but have good arguments at hand.
I am disappointed to see how my country in Africa is fucking up and the people are fleeing instead of trying to fix things. Once I can, I will dedicate my life in helping this development.
I'm tired of seeing my people having a victim mentality and treating western countries like 'gods'.

People who have 'liberal tendancies' hide their fascism better than anyone else. People should come down hard on the U.S.A. and the U.K., who have military adventures that cause multiplying outcomes. The 'liberal economics' of the 1980s was a criminal undertaking. But, is just called Liberal economics.
So many of the crimes today have 'wash it off of your hands' names. 'Liberal economics' was a name for 'favourable tax letting-away-with'.

If my country were caught up in civil war, violence, genocide making my life hell I'd get the fuck out as well, so I can't blame them for wanting to come over to Europe. That said there are several things to consider.
    1. Italy can't continue to deal with this situation all on its own, it should receive aid from the rest of the EU.
    2. Having all people from unstable African countries move to Europe is not sustainable in the long term.
    3. Many European countries are experiencing economic crises, and unemployment rates are extremely high. Shouldn't their countries act in the interest of their citizens as well?
Also, although some of the immigrants' attitudes might come off as "ungrateful" it is in their own interest to protest their conditions. Being quiet and thankful for the little that is given might seem more polite, but it's not going to change the way they're living.

What if the civil war is between religious groups who want to wipe each other out? Why would I want to die for either side? To kill for either side? Should I just stay there and be caught in the crossfire, in the looting, raping and murdering that takes place when there's a war? Just because I was born there? No thanks. I'd rather be a coward. The compassionate thing to do is to prevent illegal immigrants from making the trip in the first place. The agenda of people who want more illegals to enter their country are often founded on the idea that they can derive more political power. Somehow in their brains they think it can be justified as compassionate when they are the source of the lies that bring these illegals to the country in the first place. Quit promising them jobs, welfare, sanctuary, free education, free healthcare, free everything.

It is not that Japan does not accept refugees or migrants via proper channels. It is just that Japan is not that attractive to migrants as compared to Europe and North America. Migrants also take into consideration the language of their destination. European languages such as English, French and Spanish have more speakers ( from former colonies/protectorates) outside their linguistic origin country, while Japanese language has few speakers outside Japan. Due to language barrier, integrating into Western societies is easier than integrating into Japan. On top of that, Japan is so far away from so many places. It is at the eastern edge of the Eurasian landmass.

The problem in a nutshell is that these people are in an overwhelming majority going to take from productive society. And in Europe, there is already a scary ratio of people who take vs people who produce. And it only gets dramatically worse with migration. Some of them work, sure. But as a whole it is a big minus to the real productivity. They will not change their culture, but if they ever get the right to vote they vote socialist, thus increasing the problem even more. Its a vicious circle because the number of productive people is decreasing....

I can’t understand why the Italian Government is to blame for this tragedy?!?! Fleeing your own country on a boat built for half of the amount of people who were on board, is not the fault of Italy, they knew it was a huge risk and yet they all got on the boat. My heart goes out to immigrants in these situations but these people chose to gamble with their lives and unfortunately 300+ lost that gamble. This is a one sided story, never telling the other side of the immigration crisis. It’s a very unfair story. Tragically these people died but it’s so unfair that the blame falls on Italian hands!!!

Europeans have been doing their best, and look at how they are treated back. Have you got better solutions to house these millions of people ? 2 things come to mind after watching this.
1: The refugess are grossly mislead by the smugglers, by the somewhat truth that you get free education, free hospitals, jobs, money if you are unemployed. Overall a better life. Comparing that to the living standards of the most of Asia and Africa countries, it is much more desireable, of course. But all of this is only achieveable if you are a citizen of EU, which is hard to obtain these days.
2: A genuine, and somewhat justified fear from the EU countries that is if immigration isn´t controlled, as to a level where public offices can keep up, refugess will just roam around never contributing to society in any way. Sorting to the only means left to survive, crime. I also believe the reason why people are reluctant to accept these refugees into their way of life, is the massive culture gap, and the masses of uneducated potential workforce. It is a fact that manual and/or uneducated labor demands is decreasing, meaning they would have to offered extensive education, but firstly after the language barrier is overcome.
It is a massive task, that is upon the Eu, and i am not sure EU is up to it. Only time will tell.

My partner had to spend around €4000 for the language school and for the student visa so I could stay here legally while I was waiting for the Visa. We also had to (and have to) pay for the place to stay, food, bills and the lawyer. They don't deserve to be in this beautiful and welcoming country if they can't appreciate what they get for FREE. And Vice, I don't like fairly tales, I like documentaries. I'm very disappointed.

Time has passed and yesterday, October 7th 2016, over 7 thousand invaders flopped into the sea near Libya and were promptly picked up by the Spanish, French and Portuguese navies who then tried to dump them off at Sardinia in Italy. They were told sorry, no room we are already at over capacity here so they all ended up sleeping on the ships that rescued them. All this while Italians are in a desperate struggle to find work for themselves, feed their own families and educate their children, this lot arrive and demand, demand mind you, whatever is on tap and think it's theirs for the taking? In time they will be required to comprehend Italy is no dumping ground for the those who cannot figure it out for themselves, not a country to illegally crash into and certainly no nation where they can arrive like beggars and tell those who have put this country together what they want and when they want it. Also, why are these girlie men romping through the streets of Italy, how come they didn't stay and fight the tin pot dictators in their own country, were they having their period? Basta!

Anyone that knows farmers knows that they don't make very much money, especially in a country that is mostly urban with relatively high taxes.

Maeur Nah thats not correct, a citizen was a citizen under the law yes but the ethnic romans distinguished between themselves and foreigners, they where very racist towards "barbarians" and dark skinned people. The only other people they ever really liked was the greeks.
And why in hell should we modern europeans tolerate that complete strangers come in here expecting us to just give up our land to them?
