What I don't understand: She had met the family in Balmoral before. And they say she passed 'with flying colors" there due to her manners and her easy way to mingle with the royal family. Why then does the first scene of this video raise the impression they meet for the first time and she has to be told how to greet whom. She and Philip had already crawled in the grass together when stalking the stag. So this is definitely not their first meeting or greeting.

Exactly. Other scenes have errors but not as obvious. In the JFK death, HM is outdoors clearing overgrown brush land at Sandringham (?) and is summoned back to the house. In broad daylight. JFK was shot at 1pm Texas time which would have been 7pm Sandringham time, in November, so it would have been pitch dark outside instead. But overall an informative scene.

Yes I wondered the same when watching. They like her, then suddenly they dislike her, no explanation of the change. She would have had those manners.

This is fiction, not an accurate depiction of every single event. This scene is obviously not based on actual facts as she was raised to know how to behave in those circles. Maybe created for dramatic effect to show she was entering a new world where she was never fully accepted for what she was and make her feel insecure.

As has been pointed out many times before, this is a fictionalized drama based on real people and events, but always feeling free to sacrifice historical accuracy for the sake of the story.

0:56- Although the scene portrays Lady Diana Spencer having made a bad impression on Princess Margaret re the timing of her entrance, in fact, they got along quite well for many years. Alas, after the 'Panorama' interview, it seems Princess Margaret was livid that Princess Diana had publicly dissed her nephew (and to some degree her sister) and evidently did all she could to avoid the Princess of Wales from that point on.

Her nephew who gaslighted her? Kept the ex around and yelled at her for confronting Camilla? Thisis according to the Diana recordings.

@@lordalessan Margaret was someone who often chafed at the bit and wasn't above calling out Charles herself. However, she couldn't abide anyone not related to her publicly dissing her nearest of kin- no matter how kin may not have always been nice to Margaret herself!

In this scene, Margaret is rude, IMO--to Diana and to the butler.

@lordalessen Diana was no angel.with her affairs either. At the end of the day, she has known and loved her nephew and sister for many years, as well as having her own children in the system and knew her role in supporting the sovereign.

I think it was Oscar Wilde who once said "there are two things that are wrong with our lives one is not getting what we want and the other is getting what we want".
Diana got Charles ----- to make her the Princess of Wales. Diana did not get Charles for a husband. Obviously the two do not go hand in hand or maybe that was reserved for Camilla. Yes, I know Camilla was never Princess of Wales she was a duchess however Diana KNEW what Diana was getting into and to say that Diana was only 19 is correct but also wrong because Diana knew that both her mother and her grandmother saw that Diana was unfit for such a heavy role but maybe their warnings just weren't enough for Diana. I understand that Diana was hurt and embarrassed when Charles answered "whatever in love means" but at 19 most teenagers don't know real love ( or real maturity ). To be able to go back in time and say to her "If you know Charles STILL has Camilla then see if you could walk away from all those wonderful material things that royal life has to offer you Diana...." It makes me wonder if Charles was a butcher or a baker or a candle stick maker would Diana have married him?

The first scene nost certainly never happened like that. Diana was a member of one of the oldest noble families in Britain and had been around royalty before. There's no way she wouldn't have known protocol, which means there's also no way of her getting bullied like that.

This show is so utterly ridiculous in its over the top fantasy ideas of how royals interact in such a “cold” manner - like yeah, i imagine there is formality in a monarchy but that circle was more like a high school mean girl horror movie. Diana had already met his family before this. And that interview was such a twisted interpretation of the actual interview. Diana was not that weird, snaking her head about, and Charles came off more harmlessly clumsy in the real one than heartless in this scene. This is why i will never watch the crown. It says it’s a fiction but then reenacts history to a tee but through a warped lens, that people forget the actual events and come to believe the fictional story.

Queen Elizabeth was Diana Frances Espencer ..
    God Mother...
Their family's were neighbors and friends....for many years
Diana was no't extranger for the Royal Family.
Charles was too old for the
beautiful , naive, inocente and romantic Diana.

They were definitely no strangers. And they had already spent a very relaxed weekend together at Balmoral where Diana and Philip shot the stag and they all played games together at night and laughed a lot. Why now this strange scene implying that they have never met before?

    • @JoanMorrison-vq2jc
      @JoanMorrison-vq2jc 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Queen Elizabeth was NOT Diana's godmother. The queen was godmother to Diana's younger brother, Charles Spencer in 1964. Diana was NOT beautiful. She was saddled with that long crocked nose, too tall and horsey in appearance and no cheek bones and greenish hair and no lips. Eeeww! Diana was never never naive! If Charles was a butcher or a baker or a candle stick maker Diana would never have looked at him! Devious Diana knew she just wanted to be Princess of Wales and eventually queen. Yes, Diana was very romantic when she took her married boyfriends to Kensington Palace though....

I'm very very proud of being an American so first I must disagree with you - I think there is no such thing as a low class American!! Like every other country I suppose we do have our share of oddballs. Secondly, have more self love and respect . Thirdly, I don't think Charles, and the queen and Philip and Diana 's grandmother Lady Fermoy would all just stand there allowing Margaret to be this "cruel". The Crown as you know is for drama - this is not a documentary and there are some inaccuracies along the way. Enjoy the Crown. Be happy 😊. Have fun with it...
