    We just got told we have forever chemicals in my town & they're giving out free filters and bottled water now. It's become so bad they can't keep up with the demand of the free items and turns out, they knew about this for quite awhile now and only recently decided to start doing something about it. I’ve never trusted the Gov so I’ve never drank or cooked with tap water since i became an adult i’m 44. Cause deep down I’ve always known if something went wrong with the water. They probably wouldn’t tell the public until they had to plus my apt is old so I know the pipes are old, but im tired of carrying heavy waters every week. I’ve been for some years looking for an alternative and was gonna buy the berkey. Cause systems like this post are so expensive to buy and keep up with. The berkey the military uses but now they are saying it’s bad so there’s that. All my family and friends have made fun of me and given me shit for not using tap water at all. When they would see me only use filter water to cook they always would say you are so wasteful. I bet if they found out how bad the water is they would not look at me weird anymore. I want to also filter the shower water wish I could have afforded all this years ago but is what it is. It’s sad that poor ppl don’t have access to good medical, dental or water and food. How sad that only ppl with money can afford the basics of life that keep a person in good health. I’m narrowing down what I’m going to buy for the kitchen and to filter my shower.

    Your drinking water quality depends on the geology of where you live, the treatment steps your area takes (if public), and pollutant inputs into your environment/groundwater/surface waters - while many people do have concerning levels of life-altering contaminants such as lead in their water many do not. Most drinking water treatment facilities release contaminant reports publicly and you’ll find most of the time that the plain tap water is very safe to drink and does not require this expensive extra step that may not actually do a whole lot

Get your blood tested for heavy metals and you’ll see that they are within a very safe level. Since everything has trace heavy metals that naturally occur in some amount in soils, they show up in our food too. Our bodies can naturally get rid of most of these. But, you do you.

    Actually tap water is very safe because it’s highly regulated. Yes, some of the limits for metals and pollutants haven’t been updated in a while which need to be updated to modern standards but tap water overall is very safe for most people

    • @johnjohng668
      @johnjohng668 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true, kiddo. Not highly regulated. If this were so, you wouldn’t have the Flint Michigan and other cities in the news recently with high levels of (lead) & other toxic chemicals found in their tap water. This doesn’t sound like highly regulated to me. Each municipality is different. There are high levels of chlorine and chloramines in our water here in Florida. Drinking chlorine destroys gut health and leads to unhealthy gut microbiome. There are unsafe levels of toxic chemicals in our local water. My sister in Illinois has toxic water for her town. No one drinks the water there. You might do more research. Kindly, j.

My tap water quality here in upstate NY is some of the best in the country. And places like flint Michigan are not due to poor water quality from the source but rather old lead pipes that need replacing. Once they were replaced, tap quality is massively better. Tap water is fine, but a brita filter works great but I KNOW for a fact the water in at least OK and FL water is fine, my Dad worked in waste water and water treatment. This guy doesn't mention the amount of (ppm) heavy metals that's in the water... so you don't have a baseline. Also if you look at heavy metals are in water you might think it's bad but even if it's 100 ppm it's literally so low that you have to use a super sensitive tester to read it. (Ppm is parts per million). If you live in the USA you have the cleanest treated water in the world. I see a lot of this, this specific excuse being made that foods like these are too expensive, despite it being a very black and white statement. Not a good conclusion or insight on the problem this guy is trying to fix/aid. Just instead perpetuating this excuse and allowing people an easy out. My family struggled heavily with money my whole upbringing and we made it work, so I know the reality is just conscious budgeting and strategizing ways of saving money by buying these foods in bulk or from a discount grocer store. Also just avoiding food waste and buying nutrtious foods that keep you satiated. The reality is, our system makes it unnecessarily difficult to access these foods, so that we are stuck with conventional options that they choose for us. But it is still possible to choose for yourself, just takes being conscious and thoughtful. Thinking people will never change is helping absolutely nothing and isn't really grounded in reality, as people do have the power to change. The system is built to put us against each other so we argue about smaller insignificant differences, rather than staying hopeful and working together. We as a society have formed a clinical distrust for each other because of media, that is generally unwarranted, as we have more in common than you think.

    • @silentxguru6343
      @silentxguru6343 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSwissCheese87the Berkey System is “just a carbon filter”…
      The elements are composed of a formulation of more than a half dozen different media types constructed into a very fine matrix creating millions of micro-fine pores. The pores are so small that pathogenic bacteria, cysts, parasites, sediment and sedimentary minerals are not able to pass through them. The media formulation both “absorbs” some contaminates and “adsorbs” other contaminates. Next, heavy metals ions (mineral molecules) are extracted through an Ion exchange process where they are essentially electrically bonded to the media. Finally, our filter elements are designed such that each water molecule can take several minutes to pass through the filter elements whereas these molecules passing through other filtration systems pass through those filters in literally microseconds. The longer the water molecules are in contact with any media, the greater the removal of the various contaminates.
      Black Berkey Purification Elements are more powerful than any other gravity filter element currently available. The micro-pores within the cleanable Black Berkey purification elements are so small that pathogenic bacteria are simply not able to pass through them.
      Black Berkey purification elements are so powerful, they can remove red food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other filtration element can duplicate this performance.
      The powerful Black Berkey purification elements also remove or reduce viruses, pathogenic cysts, parasites, harmful or unwanted chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, VOCs, detergents, organic solvents, cloudiness, trihalomethanes, silt, sediment, heavy metals, foul tastes and odors, yet they leave in the healthful and beneficial minerals that your body needs and….
      Because Black Berkey purification elements fit most gravity flters, existing gravity filtration systems can be upgraded. This vastly improves their ability to remove unwanted contaminates.

    This is an ad, guys, he’s trying to make you feel fear, and then presenting you with the “solution” to that fear.
    The vast majority of tap water in the US is perfectly safe to drink. Your municipal water utility tests the water constantly for all kinds of bad stuff. Stories like Flint, MI break headlines because of how rare it is.
    Don’t buy a water filter just because someone on the internet made a claim without backing it up. Reach out to your town’s water utility if you have questions about water quality, stay safe, use your head!

    • @mai6553
      @mai6553 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not rare, ignorance is bliss tho :-) micro plastics, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals… people are getting sick everywhere from water, obviously in diff. rates due to location, environment, money/resources… Flint Michigan is a big name but the truth is that if we all knew/ cared about what we’re putting in our organs they wouldn’t be alone in their crisis. If it’s not for you, fine. And yea his job is to sell products, but it’s clear his motivation is to promote health-promoting products specifically. If it’s not concerning to you, that’s fine! But “fear marketing”? Nah. It’s just actually frightful if you know what’s in your water and how it affects your organs over time. Check out your area: www.ewg.org/tapwater/
