“Hello” really hits different knowing that Chen posted a handwritten letter for his fans announcing his marriage. I was literally sobbing the first time I watched the MV knowing that he must be scared that his words would come off as “empty” or insincere. It was heartbreaking watching the behind the scenes as you can really tell how sad and tired he was. My only wish was for him to be happy for the rest of his life with his family
I watched Hello 4 times. First time, I was emotionless as a stick. 2nd time, I cried a little at the end. My 3d and 4th, I was literally sobbing throughout the whole song and the tears wouldn't stop so now I don't watch it anymore lmao

I can't stop being emotional whenever I listen to Hello.(i'm literally crying while writing this) "안녕" in Korean can be both mean Hello and Goodbye. He release this song after his hiatus from his marriage announcement and also his Goodbye song because he is Enlisting. It's heartbreaking because what Jongdae literally saying is he couldn't say anything aside from Hello/Goodbye because he's scared that if he says everything that's in his mind, it might cause more pain to EXOLs instead of comforting us. We need to protect him at all cost. 😭

Hanbyul(onestar) is one of EXO's vocal director. He said that when recording May we bye, he got really competitive after hearing Chen's adlibs in the recordings and have to rerecord his parts and add more adlibs because he recorded it before Chen. He didn't mean to be competitive, but he said he got triggered little🤣.

Chen is not only a high notes singer , he’s the king of the vocalists from the whole world. Talented and hardworking with amazingly insanely techniques from low to high 🤍
Chen sings live during the mv filming for beautiful goodbye to get the emotions when usually ppl are lip syncing during filming, staffs were on the verge of tears cause he sings so well plus you can listen to it too that his voice is full with emotions 😭 his ability to pierce your heart with his voice without even understand what he's saying 💔 makes you feel as if you lost your love when you re actually single to begin with..
Hello really felt like a gut punch after witnessing all the abuse Chen was getting for just progressing with his life ... the most beautiful words that he shouldn't have had to utter for being in love and welcoming such a beautiful gift to the world

Anyway, Chen is truly the best vocalist of his generation - Baekhyun has a great tone and versatility and Kyungsoo's agility is unmatched but Jongdae ... he's like the full package vocally; strength, delicacy, range, versatility, flawless technique - truly a legend, we don't deserve

I literally made enemies of everyone who was bitter when Chen’s announcement about his baby came out. I blocked people who reacted negatively indiscriminately on Twitter 😂 I am a full fledged adult but I just can’t take any of the bullshit the man had to go through just because he’s living his private life. Some fans are so stupid and they kept making excuses as to why Chen should be out of EXO (other than the fact that he was going to be a father, because that’d make them look like idiots haha). I’m just glad that EXO didn’t make a big deal out of fans’ reaction and protected Chen, keeping him as their precious member, I would have left the fandom had they reacted differently. EXO is not a group that really shows off their extremely close bond but this is a proof enough for me. Some groups would just abandon a member if this happened to one of their members. EXO and Chen just set a excellent precedence for the entire K-Pop community and I find this very important.
(I’m saying this because a member of one of my fave groups got married (years before Chen) and the group kinda….. they’re just listening to entitled fans too much and that what made me drift apart from the group 😂)
You can praise Jongdaes vocals without mentioning Baekhyuna nd Kyungsoo- they are equally great vocals in their own ways
@@lily8892 it's just kpop ... people are allowed to have different opinions. High notes =/= good vocalization, and if that's all you think is impressive about Baekhyun's singing then you're selling him short
I never said "Baekhyun isn't like him", I just said that Chen is the most balanced and technically skilled vocalist in EXO, and by extension the 3rd Gen
I did point out that Baekhyun has the most versatile voice, which acknowledges his extraordinary ability to control his voice - all I was really saying is that *to me* Chen's vocal technique is the most complete among 3rd gen vocalists

When I heard Chen was getting married and having a baby I only had two thoughts. First was that I was so glad he had found love and wished him all the happiness in the world. The second was that his child was going to have the best lullabies sung to her. If you turn your back on an idol because they have found happiness in a significant other and/or started a family you were never in it for the music and you were never supporting them as artists to begin with. We are FANS and that is all. We have no right to dictate how they live their lives.

“Hello” is a really private song dedicated to his listeners and has a huge story behind it. For months i was avoiding any reactions to THIS PARTICULAR song, although i’m obsessed with reactions and literally watch them everyday, bcz i was scared of being hurt from the words of reactors, who might not be familiar with the whole situation going on. This song is too emotional, too personal, and too precious for me to listen how others will “evaluate” it. And today i wanted to give it a try as it was from u. At first I actually didn’t ecpect Chen to go with a ballad solo knowing how he’s such an energetic person (he’s part of beagle line along with baek and chanyeol the 3 of them are unstoppable chaos) but i realized it really is his sound and his vocals & emotions shines through. probably also why he’s most sought after ost singer.
Btw 16:28 onestar(Hanbyul) is actually one of exo’s vocal directors and vocal coach😆 he wanted to do a collab of this song with Chen after he recorded it and said he wanted to add more adlibs lmao i can really see that a lot exo despite already being amazing vocalist when they started training, a reason for their vocal improvements is because they also have an amazing teachers.

Your reaction took me back a few months ago when I was still discovering each member's solo stuff and stories. The shock, the heart gripping moments when listening to Chen, and that excitement the moment Chen starts to sing a hype song was all on point 👌
As for Chen's songs, what always gets me is how his voice can make me go speechless in a snap. Honestly, Hello is that one song that I can't finish without feeling really emotional, some exo-ls and soondingies speculated that Hello was made as a reply for the Letters for Chen fan project for his birthday last year since the color palette of the posters as well as the mv matches the covers of the books.
As for Onestar, he's an established soloist in Korea and also known as Exo's vocal coach which explains why they were both attacking us with those crazy vocals. And ofc rockerdae which always wrecks us all, even when watching their videos from their past concerts the party section where we see rockerdae really brings the whole crowd to a freaking party.
