I'll be honest here; I've been regularly scouring the web for performances by Federico Gad Crema since I first heard him (via TH-cam) at the Chopin Competition. How I never heard this before today is beyond me! What a beautiful piece, Mr. Earl, and a wonderful marriage of composition and pianist: your exquisite and poignant piece, complemented by Gad Crema's rich-tone and honest, sensitive interpretation, is inspiring and Heavenly indeed. What a pleasure to hear this!
Lovely. I don't know what the title refers to (if anything) but this is a tender, meditative piece that begins quietly, lulling you into a reflective mood, then swells into something full-throated, something that has a melody but evades it at the same time, giving it a slightly unsettling quality, and then the piece subsides into something uncertain, a falling away into near silence - leaving me at least feeling I'd been listening to a musical poem. Thank you David. And congratulations to Frederico for performing it with such sensitivity and feeling.
