  • Heading into Barrow I followed the signs for Furness Abbey. It is not easy to find. Traffic was very busy. It was mid afternoon and it was chucking out time for the schools. The Abbey is managed by English Heritage, it was £8 to get in. I'm glad I made the effort to stop and have a look around. It was amazing.

It is amazing how grass was planted
Within and without the crumbling structure. To me , it’s beauty in the imperfect. You have such beautiful historical buildings in England. I have been enjoying . Where to next ??!! Can’t wait !

Thanks for the tours. Too bad it's in ruin. It must have been a magnificent Abby in it's day. Loved it!

Furness Abbey is just down the road from me. I've passed it hundreds of times but haven't been inside the grounds since I was a child. Thanks for the tour.

@@bethel1019 😮! Are you going to go personally? What a place! I would. Here in New Zealand there aren’t really any historical buildings and I love them so much. The sense of history, the skill, and a peek at how our ancestors lived is so special. All the best 🙂

@@firequeen7872 The problem with living near a place like this for most of your life is that you kind of take it for granted. You can see all the buildings from the road, but you have to pay to go inside the grounds unless you're a local resident (I think). It's about a 40 minute walk from my house or a 5 minute drive. I don't have a car so have usually gone there with other people who weren't bothered about going inside. The one time we did decide to go in it was closed. 🙄

Thank you Ilona. Morecambe bay is worth a visit. Plenty of overnight parking on the seafront near to the Midland Hotel. 🙏🤗
