    Living in Texas, I appreciate a long distance cruiser, and I hope VW's American version lives up to that. In addition, our best charger network is the Tesla Supercharger network. So compatibility with it and the NACS standard is essential for sales.
    Great review, as always. I liked seeing the big rear space that seems suitable for tall passengers.

    I really like this car but it's out of our budget. I'm just hoping they sell in decent numbers so there are some used examples for good prices in a couple of years. Nice review.
    It's longer than the standard Buzz by the way. I have a feeling it's the same length as the LWB Buzz that hasn't arrived yet.

    Nice looking car. Huge boot space with a pass through and workable driving range. It is a large car, which is not a bad thing. The back seat legroom is limousine level. All I need is somewhere to park it.

    Have yet to see a pair of aero wheels I like and these are no exception to that rule. Still waiting for the GTX.
    @11:00I also feel the new infotainment is far too large. It interferes with the line of the dash giving it an extra off-the-shelf look. The width is fine, but its way too tall. I'd definitely choose the smaller display.
    One more thing, its really needs a power steering wheel. At this point, its already so close to luxury, it seems odd not to have it. If VW wants to set it apart from the others in its class, then give the center arm rest a storage box and iPad clamp (w/usb) on the rear of the front seats. Its those subtle touches that give reviewer something unexpected to talk about and make the car stand out.
    On the bright side, I prefer the seats with the separate head rests even though these are the most classy.
    @9:30 DCC = Dynamic Chassis Control. Aids in making the ride more compliant at Comfort setting. Yet firmer and more stable when set to Sport.

    I tried an ID4 and an Enyaq a couple of years ago, but thought they were too expensive for what you got (company car so I just look at monthly cost). Looks like the same will apply for this car. I’d love a big tourer EV but it’s just likely to be way too much to lease.
    Saying that, there were some spectacular deals on the ID Buzz on our scheme a few months ago, so if these get the same might be possible. The sad reality though is if they do have great deals it means the car isn’t selling and they are giving massive discounts to fleets to shift them.

    • @mattb4721
      @mattb4721 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Putting in something as standard would make the car cost more even for those who don't need or want the thing they put in. More options is surely better.
      What all manufacturers are doing instead these days, unfortunately, is packaging the options in expensive option bundles, forcing you to buy a lot of things you DON'T want, just to get the one thing you DO want.
      Not so with this heatpump, fortunately, which (if I understand correctly) can always be bought separately.

    One thing nobody talks about is how much power is lost during charging which I believe can vary significantly from car to car , what I mean is that your electric meter says for instance 10kw has gone in but your car only has 9kw with the rest bring lost in the charging process , some manufacturers are saying up to 12% gets lost , please include this in the reviews and the fact that from the minute they are manufactured batteries are degrading and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it , this is another reason they do not want electric cars standing around , they are literally decomposing

    You said it is very dark in the back seats. I found it interesting that you and AutoEV are the first reviewers I have seen sitting in an ID.7 without the optional panoramic glass roof. In all the reviews from the Continent I've seen, the reviewers were given a model with the glass roof - which makes sense, because that roof is an absolute showpiece for VW (and I say that as someone who would never buy a car with a glass roof).
    Which makes me wonder why you were given a car without the glass roof? Which in turn makes me wonder if the glass roof is at all available with RHD cars at the moment? 🤔

    Right off the bat: the dimensions. I do love the overally profile of this car. It's got that extra width at the front, and the length is what you would expect from an "executive car." I am impressed with it's range, and that's what EVs are all about: going the distance! Now for the negatives. Firstly in terms of style, it looks like any other VW product and it doesn't separate itself from its engine counterparts. For example if you look at the Hyundai Ioniq 6, that streamline design completely separated it from any other car in its lineup, and it's way more aerodynamic looking. Secondly, a prop rod at this price point is unacceptable. Give me some hydraulic hood struts. Thirdly, this car only comes in two colours: blue and white. I'd like some more options please, thank you. Lastly the interior. While impressive in its own right, it's still a bit lacking when compared to the competition. Both the Ioniq 6 and the Mercedes EQE put the VW to shame, especially with their LED lighting and luxury. So it begs the question: is this car's superior range the competitive edge that needs to beat its rivals, or is it smarter to just buy one of the other Germans and/or the Ioniq 6? Great review. Two thumbs up.

      I just don’t get the screen thing…why do they need to be huge? You only need to be able to see your immediate say nav map, rear view camera and Spotify etc. Such a cheap addition for car manufacturers - but instantly adds a premium price…

      @@genepatrick4232 The distraction is there whatever size if you are turning your head/gaze away from directly in front of you. HUD is the best option. The point being made though is that aside from EV , car manufacturing is not really improving the ‘drive’ of vehicles and the actual functionality of the tech has not significantly progressed in the last 15 years. However a premium is attached for screens- but they are cheaper for manufacturers to produce (bolted on) rather than a designed cluster and supporting physical buttons (which are safer to use) integrated into the dashboard.

    Great review thanks but you haven't mentioned the negatives with this car. As with all VW's everything is an additional add on. They are still using those haptic buttons on the steering wheel and slider controls on the screen for the heating and ventilation. I also noticed that they are usuing a simple strut to prop the bonnet up, come on VW even the Dacia Duster has gas struts.
    The drag coefficient isn't that wonderful, my 2020 Ioniq has a lower value.
    Why, in this day and age do you have to buy a heat pump, I think VW need to up their game,
    Looks OK interior but the styling is bland.

      There was quite a lot I wish I could have elaborated on but I didn’t have ages with the car. They are using haptic buttons on the steering wheel for now, but I promise you I’ve gotten really used to them. The climate control is also now back lit. All ID.7’s come with an electric boot. I do agree, however that many things should be standard and it’s not perfect. I do think it feels more Premium than the Ioniq 6.

    • @simondehaas8784
      @simondehaas8784 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Some people are over obsessed with heat pumps. They only make a small difference, at the cost of extra complexity. You have always been able to option them on ID cars but the vast majority of people in the UK don't because they don't get close to earning back the upfront cost. They are only worthwhile for edge cases where having 5-10% extra range in winter is really important.
      Battery Life (youtube) has bought an ID7 without a heat pump and tested it against at Model Y and Ioniq 6 with heat pump. For efficiency it actually beat the Model Y and was on par with the Ioniq 6, both in cold weather.

And the statement "the ev thing is dead" is nonsense. In the UK alone, between 2016 and 2023, ev sales have increased from 0.4% of cars on the road to 16.5%. In the US, 1.2 million evs were sold last year and world wide this year, the electric car market is estimated to be heading for a net worth of over 600 billion dollars.
