I served in the US military from 1987 to 1991. I entered voluntarily (of course) and I am proud of my service. I'm also proud of you guys for defying that totalitarian regime. @Johnston Steiner The wardroom is communal so everyone has to contribute an equal amount of funding for the whole officer echelon, and thus any single officer is unlikely to starve under that circumstance. However, I forgot the source but there seems like at least one incident occurred where the wardroom ran out of supplies (spent their money on overpriced ingredients before leaving port) at sea and the CO had to let the officers eat food from junior rates' galley.

If these guys speak English maybe they should join the US military and get stationed in South Korea. It is a lot of fun and gives you lifelong memories.
They should know basic English. I've heard from alot of defectors that north North Korea teaches English as a mandatory class in schools. Specifically British English because the US is at all times depicted as a monstrous dystopia
@@Aetius_of_Astora I heard one of the defectors say that he had learned some English and it was indeed British English. There are a lot of allied and enemy soldiers that comment that Americans fight like rich men. The US is the first major power to have a fully mechanized military, bring their own food from home to avoid relying on foraging, and weapons tend to spray a lot more bullets.

As an American, I love our South Korean friends and the People of Asia as our hearts have fought with them for Freedom over the past many years. The USA is a country of refugees. I have friends whose parents/ or themselves are refugees from Iran, Vietnam, Korea, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Iraq, and other places. Y'all forget to mention some things: 1.) veterans that are disabled from military service get monthly checks from the Government, and the amount of money you get depends on how disabled you are. Many vets get such high checks that they can live off them comfortably without needing a job, and they get them for the rest of their life. 2.) veterans are given special military discounts in several stores and restaurants that are exclusive to those who served. 3.) Depending on the state, the government will pay the college tuition for both you and your children after a certain amount of time living there. In Wisconsin, Veterans and their children who live there for 5 years are granted free collage so long as the collage they choose is in the state. 4.) on Veteran's Day, many restaurants will serve veterans free food all day.
So glad you two made it to South Korea! I think the people of North Korea are good, but the government is a mess. I served in the United Nations Command in Seoul, South Korea with the US Army and really enjoyed my service there. It's a wonderful country!
6:50 there is also housing expenses if u live on a house on or off base, tho that is if you are married because single soldiers live in the barracks. There is also more pay if you get deployed and you get even more if you are married to compensate being away from your spouse
In the U.S. military, after basic training enlisted service members go to advanced training. In the Army, this is called Advanced Individual Training (AIT). The length of your AIT depends on your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). The time ranges from 4 weeks to almost 2 years, depending on the complexity of the training. Only then does the soldier report to their unit - after they graduate and are qualified in their MOS. They do no not go from Basic to their unit without successfully attending their AIT school. Edit: Also, all enlisted soldiers are trained in repelling at Basic Combat Training - certain MOS's and Units get more extensive training on that skill set. In the U.S. officers pay for their own food at the chow hall and enlisted are provided free food. ....and rest assured - nobody in the military gets overtime pay 🤣

It's amazing that a country this small and this oppressive has any military at all.
Observing the ideology and ability of the state in question, it's not unrealistic that they would maintain a lax standard on safety in attempt to keep up with the rest of the world, specifically the US. No, it's not fair to anyone put in that situation, not the people being trained or the trainers themselves. It's not even fair to those orchestrating the maneuver. All of it is manufactured by the indoctrination of the ideology. The losses of life are also to be at the hands of that same indoctrination. None of it is okay.
Bruh have you even seen their military propaganda videos? The commanding officers point guns forward at all times while maintaining zero trigger discipline. Holy fuck LMAO.
@@thatperformer3879 they barely have enough food to fight off starvation in the military and the military is like the most imporatant sector of the society
man...I can't imagine having height requirements lower than 1.5 m...most 12 year olds in the west are taller than that.

Makes me proud to be an American right now. Flexing our military and how advanced it is oh yeahhhhh 💪 lol
@ Thanks for pointing this out, lot of misinformation about this shit lmao.
America is basically the “pay to win” of war. Pays to have a massive economy.
Freedoms baby.. allows people to live their life, low taxes allows for more disposable income which fuels business and heyyy that means more tax $. Taxes could be lower though, and less restrictions for businesses (especially small businesses)
Warfare is, and has always been pay to win. One of the reasons centralised countries emerged in the first place is taxation for warfare.
Well, that is how reality tends to work.
Yes, when it comes to life and death nature of warfare, you always want to have the upper hand. War isn't fair.
Pays to give everyone a chance to make a decent living and take risks to start their own businesses :) no BS especially with TRUMP :D :D
That guy on the right definitely went straight to the nearest US military base and asked if it's true about naturalization.
Man I love these two! Please keep making videos with them. :)
"If you apply with your own will, I'm sure you would have a love for your workplace..." Every US enlisted right now: LOLLLLLLLLLLLL
I can just feel bad for them lol
(And happy they are doing well now btw)
I had to laugh at that too! LOL As a US Army vet, it broke my heart to hear these guys aren't even given proper food, or any food at all. WTF?
Show them aircraft carriers
Hell, man!! You want them to pass out?? HAHA!
The SEALs / SWCC too .
That be like us looking at an alien battlecruiser.
show em the A-10 Warthog. "We built a plane around a gun"
Thanks again, hope you keep them coming.
US Army veteran here, much love guys but thank you for the laugh at the extra pay for longer days comment 😂
Jon, my sentiments exactly, it’s been awhile since I was on active duty but never heard anything about overtime pay 💰 There were reenlistment bonuses though. Also I lost 50 pounds in 16 weeks at Fort McClellan where the drill sergeants would start screaming at us to leave the mess hall because we had been in there too long. I generally hadn’t even sit down at a table yet 😉
As an ex US Navy person, I would be curious to hear what DPRK ex-navy have to say on these topics.
@@thegoathimself9023 ex navy person🤔🤔🤔🤔😄😄😄😄
They mentioned in one of their previous videos that the DPRK Navy has a better life than the Army. The Navy had better gear and they're more nourished since they can fish at sea.

Dude , have you seen the video they did on this channel about the story of when they defected , definitely an incredible video and makes you respect them even more
Great videos, guys! Very informative.
Was hoping they'd be shown some on of our better military toys. Like an abrams or an a10. Maybe a test firing video.
No rush, they must adapt to our life step by step :)

You two are some of the coolest people I've ever met. I loved the video!
It may not look like it, but these two are actually the heroes that fought the Metal Slug war.
To answer the question about shooting while wearing glasses, military issued glasses carry the lens at a different angle than the ones you get from a civilian doctor. You can look straight ahead through the gun sights without folding your neck like a pretzel, because the glasses aren't angled down for reading.
Thank you for the video! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️
I served in the US military from 1987 to 1991. I entered voluntarily (of course) and I am proud of my service. I'm also proud of you guys for defying that totalitarian regime. What kind of military can you have when most of your soldiers are there unwillingly? You are correct that we have a superior force. Not because we have better training, but because we have soldiers who are passionate about their training. Congratulations to you men for finding a better country to defend. I pray for your friends and family left behind, but I don't condemn you for escaping. Best of luck to you, and peace and love.
Edit: After watching the rest of the video, yeah, we have better training. I believe. I went through decades ago.
Since they are reacting to things in America, is it weird that I want to see how North Koreans would react to the 9/11 attack? Can we make that a thing?
North Korean people know all about it. It is used to try to make the US look vunerable and weak.
Nathan N2 oh that’s interesting, but I mean the whole point is the reactions right? And now that they know the truth, don’t you think it would be cool?🤷🏼♀️
It's so neat to hear others opinions about the difference of their country to another. These man are so humble. I just can't get enough of this man. He is so cute and humble
You should have them react to U.S. Army and Marine Corps Basic Training Videos and to "The first Medal of Honor ever recorded" video.
Saying all that I do want you to guys to know that I do appreciate you I enjoy your shows and I wish to see more in the future
Navy officers don't get free food, they have to pay their own toll for eating in the wardroom.
Pretty much the opposite from the DPRK military.
These guys are so wholesome and curious God bless em
Lol they should've told them that we allocate billions every year to military funding
Even then, its only like 13% of our entire countries budget. Its 54% of federal budget but compared to the amount of money the states spend aswell its almost 13%.
Love this channel so much! Thank you for giving this insight. Also, it’s crazy looking at North Korean soldiers training. It looks like they are still fighting the Korean War from the 50’s! Insane.
Guys I love your videos but your English captions are super quick at times. Too quick to read sometimes. Maybe slow down a lil but love the videos keep them coming 🙏
They are both very humble people.
Have them react to some of our "super weapons" like the AC-130 and Warthog
In case any Koreans are watching there's Boot camp/ Basic Training for recruits THEN when you complete that you are sent to advanced training regarding your MOS. Basically the job you are assigned, whether it's Infantry, Artillery, Engineers, Logistics, etc. THEN you are sent to your unit.
When did they talk about technology
I have nothing but the utmost respect for both of you for your courage. I couldn't imagine how hard it was to leave everything you know. I salute you.
Wait until they see the US Special Forces!
Green Berets are top notch compared to seals in some cases😏
Weasel Wolf maybe tier 2 seals
@@Ungovernable_Schizo Not maybe. You hear more about SEALs then you do Green Berets.
Always love these videos, but they always leave me wanting so much more. I wish this was long form interviews. Like imagine this subject for like 2-3 hours with Joe Rogan, and watching real combat footage and longer training videos
@@Aetius_of_Astora
I heard one of the defectors say that he had learned some English and it was indeed British English. He also said that not everyone learned English, some people learned different languages so they could possibly utilized in other regions of the world or as interpreters in North Korea. It's all very interesting either way. Thanks for the info.
Glad you made it !
Bro these are literally North Korean defectors like it ain't a big deal
Balls of steel lol
There are a lot of allied and enemy soldiers that comment that Americans fight like rich men. The US is the first major power to have a fully mechanized military, bring their own food from home to avoid relying on foraging, and weapons tend to spray a lot more bullets.
Y'all talk way to fast! I can't read the subtitles as fast as you run them! Rather slow down or translate to English in person!
Slow down the video speed or learn to read faster...

Thanks for sharing about yourselves
God, I'm only second!! 😣😣
Love these guys
couple of VERY brave guys. i commend you with your courage and determination!
Hello guys; I just started watching your videos this weekend! I love them. One about aircraft carriers mentioned military exercise one was called “Team Spirit.” I am a former US Marine & spent 3 years in the Pacific. I took part in Team Spirit ‘85 in the year 1985 of course. 2 weeks at the DMZ training with ROK Marines. A little before your time. I will all the best for both of you!
Great video
It was interesting learning a little about life in NoKo. Glad you guys are safe. Military, anywhere, is a test of medal. Blessings for all you guys across the globe. 💖
This is my new favorite thing to watch now
As an American, I love our South Korean friends and the People of Asia as our hearts have fought with them for Freedom over the past many years. My extended family member dies at Palawani and my mother knew people that came back from the Bataan Death March.
Americans are fighting a soft war of ideology and the only tools are to show the real America to those such as yourself to react. I hope you get an opportunity to watch some of the great stories of sacrifice Americans had made in past wars such as WW2, Bosnia ETC because I think those people show how much extra my people are willing to give. The USA is a country of refugees.
I have friends whose parents/ or themselves are refugees from Iran, Vietnam, Korea, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Iraq, and other places. If the world knew more about what we really share and you can react I think it shows how much alike we are really. Thank you I enjoy your commentary very much, You guys make me smile because your so well grounded and honest :)
I love these 2 guys, they are so optimistic and happy.
It's nice to meet you guys too, it's fun to learn this stuff about other people's country's😃
God bless these two brave men..they gave up everything to be free...if only Americans could see what these guys went through....May their families be kept safe..
These Korea versus u.s. military Series has become my favorite TH-cam series!
I have friends who came from other countries, joined our military, and became US citizens in lightning time!
Annyeonghaseyo! Ex US military soldier here who served in South Korea. Great video guys. I'm glad you were able to share your point of view. I've been able to look at North Korea through the DMZ and that's about it. I know from my unit that nobody thought the North Korean's were enemies, just the leadership. I hope the best for you.
You should do a video about the joint excercises between the US and SK
Well since they are in the South Korean Army now I am sure they know about it.
4:27 yep you can keep some of your gear after you serve like the Uniforms
A few corrections. Only the Marines has a 3 month boot camp. the chow hall is only free if you are single and live on base in the barracks if you live off base or in family housing on base you have to pay if you want to eat at the chow hall.
Hey I would like to ask are you guys now in the south Korean military? I am new to the channel so I don't know also I am in the Marine Corps in the United States! So I wanted to stop by and say hi!
I love these dudes
Actually rappelling is done by all US Army recruits both male and female. I did it back in 1992 as part of basic training..
I was an US Army Soldier assigned to the U.N Security BN, Joint Security Area (JSA) Panmunjom from 99'-00' and am fascinated by these videos. I always really wanted to just reach across the border and introduce myself, shake their hands and sit down and enjoy some soju and kimchi together. These videos really drive home the point that we're really not all that different.
Great video, it's really important to hear from the "other side". I hope you guys are acclimating well to being in the South, and that you're able to take advantage of the many opportunities being in the "free world" can give you. We're all really on the same side, the side of progress and freedom. Best wishes from the USA.
Cool Vid, God Bless You !
8:31 I respect a man who can put politics aside and accept defeat. We've all been there.
I really want to see these two meet american veterans, I just feel like they would get along pretty well
This video is very cool! Plus that guy has suave hair.
Y'all forget to mention some things:
1.) veterans that are disabled from military service get monthly checks from the Government, and the amount of money you get depends on how disabled you are.
4.) on Veteran's Day, many restaurants will serve veterans free food all day.
food is literally free here look up "food pantry" and thats like the last resort yet its 2 miles away in every town
This channel is growing fast
Happy to have y’all enjoy peace and freedom, welcome to the rest of the world❤️
In the U.S. military, after basic training enlisted service members go to advanced training.
