Rules:
1. Fainting = Death
2. I can only catch the first encounter on every route
3. Nickname Pokémon
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leaders/E4s weakest pokemon (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on Set battle mode
7. No Ev Training
8. No Setup moves, swords dance ect ect.

Dang, changing the level cap from the next gym leader’s ace Pokémon to their weakest makes a big difference. Even if there are tight level caps in between gyms, having level equality or advantage against a gym leader’s weaker Pokémon can help a lot. Good on you for doing this challenge, and no matter what it was fun to watch you stream it and play it! Kudos to you.
Also, I lost my Ivysaur to a critical hit hyper fang from Blue’s Raticate on the SS Anne just like you did in A3, so I feel your pain there 😭

Oh damn I had this idea some time ago.
I have an idea for you to use.
Basically you're only allowed to use pokemon WEAK against the upcoming gym leaders main typing.
Basically you can't use a Bulbasaur or Squirtle for Brock but you can use a Charmander
Additionally, if pokemon's typing makes it NOT weak to the gym leaders main typing
( Like how Swellow is Normal/Flying and it's not weak to Fighting )
Then it's a no no!
If it's a normal type user then just don't use Fighting, Ghost, Rock or Steel
Currently trying to do this while playing Emerald.
Sounds challenging but a cool idea. How you finding it in emerald?

Bro big kudos going for the lowest Pokemon as the level cap. Many times someone will go with the highest level and it would make the game a lot easier to complete, nothing wrong with that of course as everyone has different levels of ability. Props for being different and adding that extra level of difficulty. Also super glad Nidoking was in this he's one of my favourite Pokemon.

The classic mess up on immediately evolving stone evolution Mons. Now you are forced to give TMs if you want more moves
I mean tbf, flamethrower was the best move for Growlithe anyway which I had as soon as I had the stones. Eevee is also the same, it's not like it would have learnt anything good by waiting. Same with Nidoking, and I needed it for the 3rd gym. Gen 3 level move sets are often so bad unless there's a certain move you want it's often not worth it
Gemma was super clutch towards the end, shame about the result but i'm sure you'll bounce back!! awesome video dude!

Could use the average level of the gym leader's pokemon. That would work better at Misty's gym where she only has 2 pokemon, or when the gym leader has 4 pokemon but 1 underlevelled pokemon.
