Great tips. It’s taken me years to realize my biggest issue with cold feet on stand was due to overheating & sweating on the walk in. Definitely a great lesson learned.
When I started saddle hunting, I began using knee pads. It didn't take long to discover that even the limited coverage of a pad will limit exposure of the artery and veins to the cold. Pads or any of the knee wraps commercially available will make a HUGE difference. All of the blood entering the foot will maintain core temperature.
I have diabetes and that causes me to have poor circulation in my feet. Cold feet is an issue for sure with me. I wear Mt Hunter boots made by Hoffman boots as my ankles got wrecked playing high level soccer until I was 24yrs old. Luv that style of boot but they are made to fit super snug to provide crazy support but that cuts circulation not helping with warmth. Now poor circulation I have but my feet still sweat like crazy!!! Not good combo. I’ve found a boot with 200-400grams of thinsulate are best with a sock combo of poly moisture wicking sock liner and a light weight minus 33 Merino wool sock. Gonna buy some boot covers of some kind for long sits this yr. Thx for review!!
Side note for boot. My keen got my feet wet in grass. Keen let me keep them and sent me a $170 for a new pair and i only paid $70 for the ones I had. Keen definitely has awesome customer service.
@@masonoertli4099 my main complaint was how difficult it was to get over your boots, how bulky they were and how noisy they were. My feet did get cold in them as well, but that was before I dialed in this process.
@@ronaldols8975 they get toasty for sure, but for me would make my feet sweat and get uncomfortable and cold, plus it was one more thing for me to charge. 😂

Mukluk boots are crazy looking but unbelievably warm!
@@matthewlightner3160 I personally have realized I need breathable over warmth. The more I can prevent sweat the better

Replacing my 12 year old hunting boots this year with some insulated rubber for scent control. Guess I'm picking up a pair of muffs as well. Thanks!

@@jeremywynn7580 yes they do! The new targhee are the best they’ve made. So far no wet feet like the other targhee models!
Have you tried the Darn tough?
So the arctic shield boot covers didn’t keep your feet warm?

I don’t believe I have tried DT but I may have and forgot. I just know this is what has worked for me.

Wool will keep warm even when wet if wind chill is prevented.
