so let me get this straight, the TARDIS was so scared of Jack it went as far as the end of the universe just to shake him off......WOW! never thought I'd see that
Imagine if Jack vomited and his vomit formed David Tennant, Freema Agyeman and John Barrowman's names appearing on the screen as the theme tune rolled.
@@AndrewChapman awh fuck man you killed it. This was a funny comment, until your stupid reply about vomit. You should be ashamed. I know your family is.
The Torchwood clip implies that the Tardis lands inside Torchwood. Whereas the Doctor Who clip shows it landing outside. Like the comment if you notice.
It's funny how plans change. The 1st series finale hints at Jack's return to Who without a concrete plan for how it would go down. So the scene we got there (while deliberately ambiguous) made it appear that the TARDIS easily materialized inside TW HQ, and Jack gingerly stepped inside, and they vanished out of there, no muss no fuss. Then 'Utopia' picks up the thread and we find that what actually happened was...uh...a lot different.
I watched all of Torchwood before delving into Doctor Who - it was nice to see the connection! I was thinking it would have been funny (though distracting) to have put a little CGI Jack on the Tardis as it flew around in the opening credits. :)
Until now I've only seen the doctor side of things of this event and I got the impression that Jack just got unfortunately stuck there somehow. Not that he desperately flung himself at the TARDIS like a clingy ex-boyfriend. This is way funnier and I could not stop laughing.
In the audio commentary they said they only had the little shot of the "future kind" because it wouldn't make sense for Jack to be clinging to the TARDIS and then go into the intro without him. Russell T Davies joked that 10 years later they would release a special edition with him in the intro.
Wait a second. It has been nine years. Series 10 comes out next year, and everyone is hoping Jack will return. I wonder if this could happen. EDIT: Ah, shit!
Thank you for making this! I heard that there was a tie-in scene in Torchwood, but I don't watch it so I've never seen it. In a year or two, I'll get to it.
I love the Dr Who/Torchwood cross references and cross-over points. Reminds you of the exciting new life Russell T breathed into the show. This sequence only reinforces what we knew happened, but it's great edited together like that.
I find it interesting how when The Doctor says "I was a different man back then" and he is obviously refering to his Christopher Eccleston regeneration, he touches his ear. Christopher was quite well know for his large ears. LOL.
Yeah, later in that Dr Who episode it's revealed that the Doctor's Timelord instincts make even so much as LOOKING at Jack difficult due to him being a Fixed Point in Time (aka Immortal). To quote the Doctor, Jack is "Wrong".
Nice cutting... the mood is slightly different between the two shows, but apart from that it's a perfect mix! I especially love Jack clinging to the outside of the TARDIS in this, So Cool!
For 4 years, I was working at a charity shop. Then over a year ago, I got a job at a pier and left the charity shop. Whenever I go back and visit the charity shop on my days off from the pier, it reminds me of how Captain Jack returns to Doctor Who here for 3 episodes after Torchwood's first series. Cuz when I left the charity shop and started working at the pier, it did feel like leaving one TV series and going on to appear in a spin-off series. So visiting the charity shop now and again kind of feels like making crossover appearances between shows like Jack does here. And also when Sarah Jane Smith made crossover appearances from The Sarah Jane Adventures.
He had his reasons... Due to Jack's immortality, which pretty much defies time itself, the Doctor knew that having Jack coming along could be dangerous.
@redmir5 Jack found the hand after the Christmas Invasion. Jack took the hand with him when he joined the Doctor again in Utopia and left it on board the TARDIS when he went back to Torchwood. (Even though the Doctor didn't actually completely regenerate at this point) the hand later absorbed regeneration energy and grew into a second (David Tennant) Doctor, who now lives in a parallel universe with Rose Tyler.
As I said on another Torchwood video on here I was sat down Cardiff Bay the one day with my parents when I heard someone shouting ‘DOCTOR!’ Morbid curiosity got the better of me so I went to see what was happening, expecting an accident or emergency but no, there was John Barrowman running towards and jumping on the Tardis. The BBC were filming this episode that day and afterwards people were allowed to go and have their photos taken with the Tardis.
I want to believe that somewhere in holding on for dear life Jack managed to straddle the TARDIS Maj. King Kong straddling the bomb in Dr. Strangelove style. Just let that image of Jack on the outside of the TARDIS riding her bullrider style as she tries to shake him off. Let it form in its awesomeness.
he lost it in a sycorax fight right above cardiff but he was still regenerating so he could grow it back at the end of this episode he takes the the hand from jack and the hand energy was able to stop him from regenerating into matt smith until the end of time when the and grew a body and became a clone but with a bit of donnas personality. sorry about the writing i know alot about doctor who
"Every now and then I need to open up the engiines...." Notice the word Need in that saying because it becomes crucial when he meets the Tardis in human form.
he lost it in a sycorax fight right above cardiff so it dropped down to the cardiff centre but he was still regenerating so he could grow it back at the end of this episode. he takes the hand from jack and the hand energy was able to stop him from regenerating into matt smith until the end of time. when the hand grew a body and became a clone of the doctor but with a bit of donnas personality. sorry about the writing i know alot about doctor who
I think the opening sequence of the Utopia episode should have had Jack clinging on to the TARDIS, screaming his face off, and when it changes directions, his voice goes slow-mo xD
Dee Milly: When the title says "Captain Jack visits Doctor Who", I think it's referring to the show, not the Doctor himself. If it was the other way around, it'd be "The Doctor visits Torchwood" or "The Doctor visits the Sarah Jane Adventures"
"Doctor Who" is the name of the show, "The Doctor" is what he is known as. It's a title he chose. Yes they used Doctor Who in the old series credits to refer to the Doctor at that time but as time went on they changed it to The Doctor because nobody actually called him Doctor Who, it was simply "The Doctor" or "Doctor". Hope that clears that up.
First of all it's referring to the show. secondly, does it matter? the doctor used to be credited as "doctor who" and people used to just call him that.
Lol the Doctor sees Jack on the screen. Doctor: Oh hell no! Teleports away,
It would've been hilarious if they CGI'd Jack clinging onto the TARDIS for the intro in Utopia
I have always imagined that!!
Benny Potatoe I thought i was the only one who thought of that hahaha
And when the title of the episode comes up you see Jack flung off the TARDIS and smacking face first into the camera.
Same ahahaha
Don't even need CG. Just an action figure of Jack would do to make it funny.
So.....the TARDIS went to the end of the universe to shake Jack off but instead it found The Master.....poor girl, poor girl lol
They missed a fucking GOLDEN opportunity to have Jack grasping onto the TARDIS for dear life in the opening credits
Sombody made an edit of it on TH-cam

well jack shouldn't even be real so yeah she's scared of him
3:33 it would have been funny if we saw Jack hanging onto the Tardis during the theme songs
Really just a disappointing missed opportunity :(

I'm certain many people notice that. It's possible that the scripts for the two shows fluctuated and their original plans got messed up
@@seanmansfield4853 They're both written by Russel T Davies though
the TARDIS affected the Rift causng the mess inside Torchwood
You have to asume Jack left via the tourist entrance, but then he wouldn't have had to run that far
They should bring back Captain Jack one more time.
Hmmm... About that...
Well all I can say is Spoilers...
Uhhhh heyyy funny you mentioned
Yeah...heh...
I love how they're all serious like "Jack's gone" and all the viewers know that they're fussing over nothing

They really should have done a special opening for Utopia where when you see the tardis you see jack clinging to it lol

thats so funny

CAP. JACK: Mr Frobisher?
12TH DOCTOR: Who's Mr Frobisher?
Very good crossover. I was fascinated by both of these shows.
If Jack cant die, then what would happen if he looked into the Heart of the TARDIS? If the Time Vortex was in his mind?
Good question 😃😃😃
I guess that's one of the reasons why Doctor and TARDIS can't stand being even close to Jack
well the doctor did say that if a timelord had that power hed become a god, so maybe thats what would happen to jack
If you watch Torchwood, you see others.
Well it is that which gave him immortality in the first place (when used on him by Rose Tyler), so it could potentially take it away too.
I watched all of Torchwood before delving into Doctor Who - it was nice to see the connection! I was thinking it would have been funny (though distracting) to have put a little CGI Jack on the Tardis as it flew around in the opening credits. :)
The TARDIS is probably thinking 'Dear Rassilon, get him off me, get him off me!'
Until now I've only seen the doctor side of things of this event and I got the impression that Jack just got unfortunately stuck there somehow. Not that he desperately flung himself at the TARDIS like a clingy ex-boyfriend. This is way funnier and I could not stop laughing.
It was a bad moment for me when the doctor said he chose to leave jack behind
In the audio commentary they said they only had the little shot of the "future kind" because it wouldn't make sense for Jack to be clinging to the TARDIS and then go into the intro without him. Russell T Davies joked that 10 years later they would release a special edition with him in the intro.
