      I do have a question about something in the video, in the circular room there are some awesome torches. How did you get that image? Ive figured out how to get the light effect but want the torch image. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @roberttrifts2737
      @roberttrifts2737 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

       @Brent Eudy Those are animated effects onto which a light has been placed. You can add them using an animated tile showing a burning flame in .webm format. You r eye sees a guttering flame move, glowing like fire. It's not emitting any light in the scene - the light in Foundry is doing that with a torch flicker animation. But once you add THAT on to an animated "fire" .webm tile and it appears to synch with it -- the effect is cool. I have read that due to how Foundry VTT deals with animation, however, it is currently a continuous streamed video effect which is not locally cached, so its bandwidth heavy over time.

      @@roberttrifts2737 is there a module that allows for that add?

    Oh btw, just to give you a little background on me and your channel: I'm a brand new DM, DM-ing for a group of brand new players, playing remotely. Early on, I came across Foundry, then this channel, and have since gobbled up pretty much every video. We've since run 2 sessions in the Phandelver campaign, and everything is going quite smoothly! Well, in terms of the interface anyway, can't say the same for my DM-ing yet, haha!
    But thanks a ton for all the help getting started. I definitely couldn't have done it with the help of Encounter Library!

    • @EncounterLibrary
      @EncounterLibrary  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's great knowing people's backgrounds! I've been hopeful that for people very new to D&D (or at least DMing) that the videos are still useful and not overwhelming. So it's great to hear from someone who actually used them and found them helpful! I'm sure that you're DMing is great as well :D. The fact you're going through so much effort for it is certainly a good indication anyway.

    I would love it if you had a session or two specifically for players. We've just switched over from d20 Pro and I'm struggling a bit. We have the basics down, but troubleshooting and customization is a bit overwhelming. There seem to be a few great tidbits found in the videos for game masters, but something for us players would be great!

    • @EncounterLibrary

      The magical orb is coming from JackKerouac's module (It's the Fire Rotating Sphere webm)! The torch effects and what's going on around the portal is from the base Dynamic Dungeons animated map but I believe Jinker's module has some animated torch and fire webms that you can place around your map :D.

      @EncounterLibrary  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Vanessa, sorry to just be getting back to you. Which room interior? And do you mean how was it made as a map or are you referring to walling, lighting, or some of the animations? The maps were all made by Dynamic Dungeons who uses 3D software to make/animate their maps. Some of the animated bits like the big swirling orb are from the animated asset packs that I mentioned in the video. Hopefully that answers some of the questions but if I missed what you were getting at please let me know!

    Great video. I am brand new to Foundry. I had been using Fantasy Grounds Unity to run my solo adventures, but I just bought Foundry today. Now, my question is this. When you turn on a macro, how do you turn it off? I experimented with the Macros, and I placed a "fire" macro on my characters token, which was really neat, but if I want the macro to end, how do I turn it off? In this case, I could not figure out how to turn the fire macro off, so my characters token is just sitting there on fire.

    • @EncounterLibrary
      @EncounterLibrary  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There won't be a button that you can press to disable any/all macros unless that functionality is part of the macro (or another one). What I normally do is set some variable as a flag like "macroFired = false;" that I'll set to "true" once it's been fired. Then in the macro's code I'll set it up so that if it's false it will set up everything I want and if it's true it will deactivate it. So in your example it would delete or make invisible the tile you (or other effect) were using for the fire animation.
      I hope that makes a bit more sense. If it doesn't please hop into the #macro-polo channel in the Foundry Discord and you can get some great help with things like this!
