Really interesting to have a look at another experience of MEXT student daily expenses. I am a Mext Research Student at Keio University in Tokyo and my cost of living takes me much more than the scholarship is. Only the sharehouse room costs me half of the scholarship! By the way, I passed the master's entrance exams into Tohoku University next April, so maybe we will meet one day if you are studying at the Kawauchi Campus where my graduate school of Cultural Studies is located) Hope your channel will grow fast

Hey, thank you so much for this video! I am preparing for next year and wanted to ask again if public transportation is free for students bc of the student card?
In Germany we don’t have to pay for public transportation if we have a student card and I heard that it was the same in Japan.

      Hi,
No, public transportation is not free for students in Japan but perhaps some universities offer discounted cards for students. You can check with your department once you enroll:)

I heard that the amount of the scholarship varies slightly in different cities, can you tell me how much MEXT pays to students in Sendai? In Tokyo, Research Students have the biggest 146000¥ per month. Is it less in the Tohoku region?

I have heard that too. I get 146,000 yen per month as well.

      @@88866yyt Hi,
Yen vs rupees keeps changing. But in yen, you get about 120,000 for UG and 146,000 for PG. I think in both the cases, it is more than sufficient:)

Hi, Honestly I don't know if there is an easy way than just searching on google. Try to go to your desired universities home page and search the department you want to apply in. They have a list of different labs and their overview. This will help you narrow down. This is what I did. Hope this helps!
