We are in a quite Republican area in a safe Blue state. Out of all the people I know of who they are voting for is 4 Kamala and 1 not Harris or Trump. 4 of them were Republicans pre 2016.(unknown about the 5th)

@@nycp1969 it makes for a good day trip, maybe a weekend, but that's pretty much it lol, if you want to do some eco tourism then maybe 3 days but like a fair bit of day 3 will be driving lol.
Now in a few decades it might be somewhere, especially if the high speed rail line gets extended up to here since we are also on the marine highway system amd a freight hub, so we have the connectivity to be a population center, but we have got to fix public transport out here and a future high-speed would be just the kick we needed.
NE-2 could be a bellweather for this election, the Omaha metro & western suburbs are not exactly a liberal haven(excepting North O)...
If Pott Co./Council Bluffs goes for Harris/Walz, then it really will be a blue wave!
The suburbs are definitely how Joe Biden won Pennsylvania. In 2020 Trump actually strengthened his position in Philadelphia by a little bit, and many of the rural counties saw a similarly small increase for Biden. But the suburbs swung hard.
Just like how the Republicans did post 1896. In the 4th party system :)

Don Bacon openly saying that Omaha shouldn’t have an electoral vote and that Nebraska should be winner takes all was probably not the best career strategy for him.
He's down in polls to Tony Vargas as well.
I hope Tony's ads hammer home the fact that although Mr Bacon pretends to be moderate, he's no different from any other Repub.

The Nebraska Senate race is important to watch for Senate control. The independent candidate is beating the Republican. This district will turn out for the Senate election.
If we can just win two senators and get to 52 to 48, and give Harris the house of representatives, she can start to fix the enormous damage done by Republicans since 2000.
But who will he caucus with? Independents usually betray the people who think they are represented by...

AZ will take split-ticket voting to new levels. Loads of ballots will be marked for Gallego-Trump-in favor of the abortion initiative.
I also liked her yesterday, next to Zelensky how she stands on Ukraine and foreign policy, and compare that to Trump today.
And i also watched that speech, i agree it was good. She has plans (Not concepts).
Just one thing, about immigrants. Florida is hit by a hurricane, and DeSantis has some immigrant laws/policies that makes it unsafe to work there(construction), this will hurt rebuilding.

I've driven through Rocky River, Cleveland, Lakewood, Kent, among other places. I'm seeing Harris signs 10-1 vs Trump. I've seen one or two Trump flags, but no yard signs.

I’m skeptical of all the polling tbh. I suspect this is going to be a year where pollsters feel really stupid. Waiting for the mail in data to compile before I am sure but this feels like an odd election.

SInce 2016, people were skeptical of polls and statistics. But have been Polls have been very accurate in every election since 1936. ALmost every single one of them has been in the margin of error. They were wrong only in 1948, 2000 (they had Bush winning the popular vote), and 2016. In 1948 they choose to not poll in November because Truman was so far behind they thought it was a waste of money. In 2000, many of the polls used outdated models from 1998-1996. And in 2016 : the polls were 100% right about Clinton winning the popular vote. The problem was polling in swing states. Those polls were ignored and the clinton campaign didn't invest anything into their own internal research.

Maybe not tomorrow, or the day after, the week after, or the next few years after, but as a 2nd Congressional Nebraskan I see there's more of a seeming chance in the future for NE 1. If one district already did it, then the door is open for others.

Republicans in Nebraska waited until now to try this as it meant Maine's Democrat Legislature couldn't follow suit with their one conservative district just as they had threatened because Maine had a 60 day waiting period before any law is implemented, meaning it wouldn't have been active at time of election.

The threat of Nebraska changing to a winner-take-all state is larger than I think you realize, because they were trying to change it after the deadline for Maine to change its law before this election. So they could have affected this election.

You are 100% correct, the deadline date was december the 17th?, the date the EC votes must be delivered. It's every law in maine that takes at least 90 days.
Which is why they decided to try for Nebraska now. Because then Maine couldn't change theirs.
@@BenoHourglass They wouldn't have anything to gain by doing that. Maine is a blue state on a statewide level, so switching to winner take all would be -1 for GOP. It shows the hypocrisy plainly when they try this in Nebraska only.
Vote blue in the presidential election and vote blue for every down ballot office especially school boards, city, and county level officials.
They control the messaging and socialization that our children receive in school.

Just a note. Per Maine law, it is too late for Maine to change its electoral process if Nebraska were to switch back to a winner-take-all-system. All Maine laws go into effect 60 days after they are approved by the legislature. That's why Trump and his Republican henchmen took up this campaign to change the Nebraska system at this time, because it was too late for Maine to fight back. Thank God, there was one Republican legislator in Nebraska who refused to go along with this nefarious plan, or else it would have been voted in and we would have been stuck with that 269-269 electoral vote deadlock (rather than 270-268 Harris advantage) if certain scenarios would have occurred.

Why is Long Island shifting towards the GOP and embracing Trumpy Republicans like Lee Zeldin unlike most of suburban America? In other words, why don’t Nassau and Suffolk County vote more in line with Westchester and Fairfield County or even Orange County CA?

The outlier in 2016 is that a lot of people voted third party because the republican and democrat nominees were sooo disliked nationally.

I agree with Republicans that California and New York shouldn't dictate who should win the presidency....and the same goes with Nebrasks. So i'm glad Harris has the ability to gain electoral points there.
So you agree that half a dozen states should get to dictate who should win the presidency then. “California and New York” wouldn’t dictate who wins the presidency. Every citizen gets an equal vote to determine the president. The EC disenfranchises millions of Republicans too.
Texas has more electoral votes than NY
CA + NY population *combined* is under 18 percent of the US.

@@antieatingactivist Hi! So up until a few days ago, I was against the electoral college. I studied up on it and and learned that when the union was coming together, it made no sense for smaller states to join and give all the power to the larger states. So the electoral college was created to give smaller states more power, therefore encouraging them to join the union. If we got rid of the electoral college.....what reason is there for the smaller states to stay in the union since their votes don't matter.
I personally believe that America should divide into 2 countries: blue and red...so I don't care about the electoral college.
However, if you want the US to be one country, then you have to support the Electoral College.

It’s not all about Kamala and Trump. It has to do with the fact of population relocation. People from California and many liberals in the Midwest move to southern states like AZ, Colorado. It’s not a Trump issue (although he influenced it)

I find comparing the 2016 Utah shift to the left, when the whole country was going right, and now, Utah shifting right (hard) while the whole country is going left, interesting, and not sure I can put a good reason behind it (I’ve been there a lot, but I don’t live there and I’m not LDS). Thoughts?

Important to note that Omaha primaried for Bernie over Hillary, as well. I think Omaha might have had a lot of voter dissatisfaction on the Dem side, which I was part of. I voted Hillary anyway though I wanted Bernie. So many people sat that election out.
Why, when the rest of the world uses red to describe movements that are left wing (Red China, Reds under the bed etc.) and blue to describe right wing (conservatives, Christian Democrats etc.) does the United States have these colours backwards? 🤷🏻♂️

What polls are you looking at where Trump has the lead in AZ, NV, GA, and NC? Every poll I see has her ahead in almost every state with some polls having her tied in AZ and others are tied in GA.
Why does Trump keep on trying to mess with the election results and no one is doing anything??? They keep making it harder for people to vote in close states like georgia.
