I believe I watched a couple of videos you had done in the past when you lived somewhere else, and then life kind of pulled me out of the homesteader video genre until your videos started being recommended to me again. I'm finding that your vlogs are pleasant and informative and presented in a straightforward but low key way that I really appreciate. I learn different things from you, but your videos are like chatting with a friendly neighbor whose company you enjoy, and they offer a bit of a mental break as you bring us along while you walk or work your beautiful property or invite us into your kitchen for a quick chat and to see what's cooking. Y'all are so busy and doing a great job juggling many things. Jen is amazing! Anyway, I just wanted to voice my appreciation and also to let you know that I just absolutely love the way your videos open with the aerial trip up the driveway. I would love to come home to a place like that! I'm going to keep the visual of that trip up the driveway as a reference point in my mind, and Lord willing, I too will come home to an equally picturesque country home before too much time passes. Thank you again for sharing these bits of your life with random people like me that stumbled across your channel. You've blessed me. Everything before this was what I kind of wanted to say when I started watching this video today. But now I want to add that I hope whatever challenges you all are facing are things that will be managed more easily than you may expect, and that whatever is going on that's adding stress in your lives now gets turned into a blessing for all involved. Praying that all issues are resolved in your and/or your family's favor. 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
The gardens look great and there is always more to do in them, so you are doing outstanding! Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Stress does affect our health and you are wise to concentrate on the garden and keep that good wholesome food coming in. It sure seems like you have a strong family and will get through whatever you need to. God bless and keep you! 💕🙏
Good evening everyone, it's great to see you all your garden looks beautiful even with a few weeds,,, be careful from the snakes. Blessings to you all !!!!
Will you be doing a meat or poultry canning video? I've watched all your preservation videos for this season. You both do a good job explaining processes. Thank you!!
Zach and Jenn, I'm not sure what else you're going through, but just know that we love you and support you, and we're praying for you. I'm hoping for the best. Take care and God bless.
All I have left is Okra, it loves this Tx heat! I pickled a lot, dehydrated a lot and the last two days making okra, tomato and onion for winter soups.
@@TShirtAndReeboks hey fellow Texan, I did plant some sweet potatoes, never grown them before but the vines look healthy. When do you harvest them? I’m near Waco.
God bless you and your family. I pray whatever it is that God will help you all find a way through it and everything works out for the best. Such a lovely family!
Squash Lady Beetle Larvae! Great, another bad guy! 🤦♀️ I'm 5b, trying a late planting this year. Your garden looks great. I've never seen an okra plant before, wow!
Wishing you and your family a positive outcome. Thank you for continuing to share your gardening journey. I continue to learn and get inspired by your videos. Sending warm hugs your way.
I was scrolling my suggested watching list; your title struck me because I am doing the back and for on whether to take a college course....needless to say your title answered my question. Thank you and your family, have a blessed day.
If you use the Ajax degreaser dish soap from the dollar store in a squirt bottle with water and spray them, they die in less than one minute, won’t hurt the plant at all
Do you think it might be easier to grow the roselle hibiscus in a pot and move it inside in the winter? That way you would see the investment of your time and supplies pay off?
Luv zucchini bread wife fixed it all time in garden season also made butter nut pies and French fries in oven with butter and cin. And with sorghum or honey 350 degrees in oven for around 30 minutes kids luv them
I hear we are going to have some food shortages.. I am going to try to grow a garden and plant it in September because I am in SW Florida and that is the beginning of the growing season . Last garden I had was in NJ and it was work but I grew pole beans , tomatoes, and cabbage.. they did great.. the lettuce bolted, and the peppers grew like trees and didn't get peppers on them until very late in the season so that was a loss . The peppers were teeny tiny but had a hundred on them on one bush that was 4 foot or higher. Too much nitrogen is my guess..
I’ve always had to fight the squash bugs but this is the first time I had the beetle. My beetle was more of an orange than yellow. It is larger than a real ladybug with less black spots. Just discovered the bright yellow larvae two days ago. Been squishing those boogers as fast as I can.
I enjoy your channel soooooo much. You guys are very inspirational. I love how you guys are real. There is no pretenscious vibes I get from either one of you two. Your encouragement in all aspects of life are so appreciated. My wish for your homestead is pure health, contentment and much love within your family for many years to come. Thanks for keeping it real guys. Your hard workers and that is what it takes. Thank you for always delivering great videos. God Bless.
Hope all is good. I was on my way this year to having a great fort garden ever. Then a HUGE life change came our way and I lost the passion I was feeling for my garden. I was just so emotionally and physically exhausted I just couldn’t any more. Hope next year will be better. Love you and Jen your the best!!!!
Good advice about keeping the bugs distracted 😁 And please know that we are all believing for the best outcome for your difficult situation! Take care of yourselves
You got that many bugs you can see you should get one of those big shop vacs vacuums and go out there and try to vacuum them off the leaves I would try that I really would love your channel
What about using cardboard under the new compost you put in? Jess from Roots & Refuge does that. It makes sense to me what with it breaking down over time. I'm not a farmer, gardeer or grow anything, I just dream of doing it. I want to gather knowledge as much as I can, so one day, ill have my own garden.
I look so forward to your vlog updates! I always take a tidbit or two to spur me to action. Just searched for your method to can green beans with potatoes since that's a project on my list for this week. As for wrenches thrown into your life, you are on the right path so evil wants it's say. Praying ! The Lord knows your need.
I love the title of this video. It reminded me of the old expression, if you are handed a bunch of lemons in life, just squeeze them and make it into lemon aide.
If pests are out of control like that, why don't you cage off the area and drop some chickens and let them work at what they do best? They can peck, scratch and eat while turning your soil as well as fertilizing it.
We love yall and hope to pass through when i go see family soon. We are also homesteaders(starting out)...What is your advice to keep stinkbugs out we've tried sooo much and neem oil does alright but only for a couple days... were in zone 7. 7a specifically i believe.
If you don't have pests in your garden, it takes their predators longer to come help out than if you have some pests, because their predators are already in your garden. :)

Here's a great okra tip-dehydrated and cut in little wheels, sprinkled with seasonings, treat them like a snack.
