I own the same model only with a maple fretboard and dot inlays. Nice review but there is no coil splitting in our instruments. The toggle works like this: Tone pot pushed - neck humbucker / both / bridge humbucker. Tone pot pulled - just the same but with the middle pickup activated in every position. Because of the difference in resistance of the middle humbucker - it creates a "coil split" chime. The middle pickup doesn't work on it own if you have the 3 way "Gibson" toggle switch + push-pull tone knob on this model.

I also have this guitar with maple fingerboard and dot inlays, but I’m under the impression that the tone knob does split the coils on the neck and bridge humbuckers when pulled out. I have a 5-way blade switch pickup selector, not a Gibson-type toggle switch. I find that when I pull the tone knob out and have some overdrive going, there’s a lot of buzz (like a single coil guitar). The middle position on the 5-way blade switch is definitely the middle rail pickup, and is unaffected by pulling out the tone knob.

You can see at the very end that this guitar also has a blade switch.

The neck sounds great, with or without the coil split and blended or not with the middle. ..the unsplit bridge is a bit honky for my tastes, at least on rhythm, except when split...can you blend the neck with the bridge in any way? I like more of the low-mids or mid-mids and highs for most things and les hi-mids. Maybe a diff pick for the bridge?

I own this model with a Quilter Aviator Mach 3.... I think I have pretty much all the sounds I want in the blues department !!! I just wish PRS would come with a little bit more innovations in their neck : still no rosted mapple neck nor carbon reinforcement .....

Did this have the 5 way switch or 3 way toggle?

What? You made the tone demo with reverb effect? That's cheating!!! No one can tell how the swamp ash really sounds so there's no reason to buy it. Maybe, *the reverb effect is there to HIDE its flaws*
