Amazingly good timing. My cousin has been doing IVF unsuccessfully for years. Lockdown happened and IVF stopped. Loe and behold they have conceived naturally. They are both mad on Lego, so a tumbling blocks baby blanket will be the PERFECT gift for a baby due in January. Thank you for sharing your pattern. You're awesome. 😍

Love the finger row counter your using here. I've never seen anything like that before. I've always had to write my rows down, keeping track on a piece of paper. Wonderful thing to have! :)
Hello, I just finished this pattern. It is my very first knitted project! I still need to block it, as the edges are rolled, but it turned out nice. Some mistakes in the beginning but I learned so much during the process. Like tinking and fixing stitches several rows down. I even had to fix the last to rows on the edge, several rows down. Thank you for this pattern and tutorial. I am looking forward to my next project.

If anyone is interested in a No 4 weight yarn, I knitted up a swatch using Caron One Pound in the Lace colorway. I cast on 30 stitches (3 repeats). 4 rows knit at bottom (garder) and one 20 row repeat - no left/right borders. This gave me about 7 inches in width. So from there you can get an approximate blanket width. I am going to do a cast on of 182. 170 for the body (multiples of 10) and 6 + 6 for left/right border. This should give me about 41 inches. 7 / 3 (nbr of repeats) = 2.34 inches per 10 stitches, 17 repeats (170) x 2.34 = 39.8 inches, 12 stitches for borders is about 1.5 inches, Using US 8 (5.0mm) needles. The height/length I got for the swatch was a bit under 4 inches including the 4 garder rows. Of course, this is using my tension, your mileage may vary :)

For the first row of the tumbling blocks, if you do the lapghan nr of stiches, would your first row of repeats be K6 (p1k1) ×9.. i e used 18 stiches and then the k6 again repeat this till the end of stiches or is it K6 (p1k1) until you reach the end if the border and do the last k6... . hope this makes sense! The number of balls depends on the amount of yarn in each ball, there's supposed to be the length of yarn you're getting in each ball on the lable, divide the yardage given for the size you're Knitting by the yards in the ball you're looking to purchase and that's the amount of balls you need. If you get a fraction, go up a whole number (eg, 1.2 balls = buy 2 balls)

Hi there, I’m starting this pattern in a slightly different size to those you’ve included in the guide. I just got to the end of a row and didn’t get to finish the pattern before I had reached 6 stchs left and needed to do the knit edging. I’m worried that when I flip and go on with the pattern for the next row, it won’t line up correctly to make the blocks pattern- is that right? I hope that makes sense!

I'm trying to knit this but it isn't coming out in blocks at all. When knitting flat on circular needles, are you meant to turn it around or not? I'm wondering whether that's my problem and the video doesn't include what you do after each row.

Nemo, it is really not a style... I have seen it done several times, particularly when lace knitting and/or regular stockinette... I know that those excelling in knitting lace shawls do it, explaining that the border edge stitches need this turn to be kept nicely regular, straight and neat... I have also seen one or two knitters where they pass 2, even 3 stitches for the same reason... Some times I think I am looking at something akin to a very fine I-Cord... You know where to look for more info...? Look up Leslie Friend and Knitting with Suzanne Bryan... Hope this helps... Love you...!!!

@@chocolatecious i think the k6 is for the rim. So, k6, then p1, k1 until 6 stitches before the end, then k6 the last 6 stitches.

Cheryl Thompson just slip the last stitch onto the other needle and continue in the pattern like normal

Yes, knitting flat, you flip your work to knit in the wrong side, since you don’t want to join this in the round.
