I had a go of a singing bowl today, I held it in the flat of my hand, and felt the energy vibrate through my arm, not to mention the beautiful sound that came from it, otherworldly. Yesterday a lady brought a large bowl, made of some kind of frosted glass, the hum from that resonated right through the shop and into the supermarket my friend was coming out of at the time, amazing, what can I say.
By the way, you are playing it too fast. You will get the proper sound by slowing down when the mallet starts 'jumping' against the edge and the bowl begins to produce a rattling noise. V interesting video :)
TheRealDerfMan get an app on another device that will monitor the frequency and give you a readout. There are those music tuning apps you can get on your phone, they give you the note as well as the pitch or frequency too. Should be able to hold it near the speaker when you play this video.
No no, there's with all probability just a little problem with your mallet - try buying a different one! I am going tomorrow to a special shop with the bowls and mallets and will buy myself also new one :) I am pretty sure it's because of it.
