Honestly this scene is very well written. Actually Sirius even feels like a decent person in the beginning of her talk with Subaru. This chapter is called “Theatre of Malice” just like the episode title so you were right about her performing like an artist. I'll share the *peak* moment of this scene like some people did during season 2. Sirius had given the flying Lusbel the best possible stage. Watching the young boy soaring through the sky, as if flying into the sun, Subaru took the initiative of leading the crowd into a round of applause. Roaring thunderous applause, a heavenly blessing to Lusbel, who skated through that sky. That little body spun and spun, but as soon as it reached the top of its trajectory, it began to arc downward. Lusbel headed straight to the ground. The crowd vacated where he was about to fall in a hurry. That was the triumph of a hero. Endless applause, praise for the falling boy. ???: [MMMMMM!!] Lifting his head and seeing the ground rushing toward him, Lusbel moaned. He desperately wriggled his small body that should have been exhausted, wanting to do anything he could to avoid that rock solid ground, tirelessly fighting to his last moment. Everyone shed tears at seeing the unwavering tenacity of humankind. Then, Sirius: [--Ah, the world is so gentle!] Before the fierce collision, Sirius let out a shout. The applause of the crowd, who heard that voice, became louder and louder-- Crowd: [----] As if eggshells had fallen to the ground, the sound of something breaking echoed, and everyone’s field of vision was dyed red. The whole body was crushed by the hard ground head-first, and what was once Lusbel’s body, which had once contained the breath of life, became a splatter of flesh in the square-- the courageous boy was scattered. --And just after seeing that scene. Crack. The sound of eggshells breaking echoed like a round of applause. The square became a pool of bright red. That, was an ending.
1:52:30 first time I watched I wasn't even thinking that what was most horrifying was the fact did Subaru did infact remember how he felt during that whole part after return by death, I just though about the fact that he felt sick after dying after a lot of time..and sure that's part of it..but I think there's more the guilt and disgust about him having feelings that felt real during that whole speech literally we're so back such a good scene My theory is that either just as you said her gestures are related to her ability but one thing I'm sure that first time she clapped her hands the crown was probably already cooked
yes 100% the hand clap is when it started. I thought that specifically while editing. It's very scary how fast that ability seemed to work over such a long distance. Girl is SCARY
As someone who hasn't read the original material, this episode felt AMAZING. I'm really glad they decided to make this 90-minute special start, it really (re-)established a lot of things that are definitely going to be important in this arc, which also served as a very nice refresher of things from the first and second seasons. It also set up a lot of pieces for the mystery of what might happen later on, such as that whole story with the city, the Reinhard family situation, whatever's happening with Garfiel and also Liliana (Honestly, she's insanely sus to me with that whole timing to send Subaru to get snacks at the end there). And then, of course, the scenes at the end with the archbishop that basically screamed "Okay, enough exposition and world-building, it's time to get the show on the road". Really strong start to the season.
When Priscilla started talking about the entire world being her garden i immediately thought about Gilgamesh and now can't stop thinking that she's a female version of Gil
In the light novel, he’s called “The Moppet Mage,” the fan translation calls him “The Lolimancer,” but now, thanks to the anime, Subaru has gotten the most cursed-sounding translation yet: “The Little Girl User.” Poor Subaru 🤣
Liliana actually said, "Youjo tsukai," which would properly translate to "little girl user." If she said lolimancer, we'd hear, "Rorimansaa," like how earlier when Subaru called Beako a loli, we heard him say, "Rori."
If you rewatch and listen you'll hear the moment Sirius used her authority with the clap. Bro didn't have a chance to realize anything and I didn't even notice despite having read the novel but her performance is a literal magic show. She draws your attention elsewhere and you don't even notice.
Sirius moment was peak, yes yes, BUT LIKE, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE ENTIRE REST OF THIS BEAUTIFUL EPISODE?! I loved seeing how close Beako is with Subaru now, we left off at just the beginning of their relationship and you can tell they've really gotten closer over the past year. Same thing with Otto Garfiel and Subaru, it's less pressed on in the anime, but they really are best buddies now, a close gang of friends. And speaking of that Garfiel arc. I knew this episode was peak from the Elsa moment onward, the directing in that scene was so cool and Garfiel's arc intrigues me so much more now, than it did in the light novel. He is just a 16 year old and I love that detail of his character, because for once a character being underage isn't just a weird anime tendency, but also actually actively makes the character more engaging and I feel for his struggles so much more. AND JULIUS!!! First of all, I think him and Subaru should bang, but besides that, Julius is such an intriguing character at this moment, with how his treatment and respect for Subaru has changed and his own heart of steal thing, I can't wait to see more of him. Which is btw another thing I'm loving about this season. Season 2 was REALLY good, yes, it was nice zooming in on the characters we know and developing them further, but this is the first time we'll actually get to spend time with all of this FASCINATING side cast, even just this episode, they're ALL BRIMMING with character, from Priscilla's approach to Liliana to Anastasia's weird motive. And that's all without mentioning the Astrea family, who, YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE DONE WITH AFTER THE WHALE FIGHT?? Hahaha how foolish, it's crazy that it seems like they got so much more in them and we only just scratched the surface. AND THEN THERE IS SUBARU! You kinda skipped over that, but A LOT of his interactions in this episode are in direct parallel to arc 3, and it's so satisfying to see how much he's grown. First when Julius's brother shows up, he introduces himself properly as Emilia's knight, paralleling his butchered attempt at that during the royal selection, then after the mana crystal fiasco, even tho he was kinda in the right that it wasn't his fault, he isn't being a child about it and apologizes, then when Anastasia mentions how she has intel about the archbishop of gluttony and will only tell it to the Crusch's camp, despite how angered he is, he controls himself, saying "You're acting like a merchant, I shouldn't expect anything else" or smth like that which Julius even verbally commands, noting "You've grown a lot". He is also ACTUALLY famous now, as we learn through Liliana's reaction to his name and he's actually a respectable person, as Wilhelm notes and yet, he's so much less prideful than he was in arc 3, he notices his flaws and isn't afraid to admit them, like we see after the Hainkel interaction, where he righteously blew up at him, in a very similar way as he did during arc 3 at the racist nobles, however this time he contains himself, he lets Emilia defend her honor and afterwards reflects on his behavior, which makes Julius, instead of beating him up, like how arc 3 encounter ended, bow to him and thank him. Speaking of Emilia btw, her arc from season 2 ALSO goes crazy, although we've only had one scene to take note of that so far, when Hainkel calls her a half devil, she doesn't hide away or get embarrassed, but faces him head on, which is what ultimately throws him off his game in that scene.
Sirius is a very different brand of evil compared to the other bishops We’ve seen. It’s interesting she looks terrifying as you said but the way she speaks in this way where she sounds unsure of herself and lacking confidence . Makes her seem less intimidating. Compared to the arrogant talker greed, and the love obsessed dutiful sloth Betelgeuse but Sirius is just her own brand of crazed and demented. The archbishops always surprise me.
Don’t know if you saw, but there were several big translation issues in the episode. And Crunchyroll just recently fixed them! Would you like to know the changes?
PINKS COOKING IS SO REFINED, HE COOKS WITH EVEN THE MOST MID OF SERIES. (I AM KIDDING, RE:ZERO FANS. PLEASE DON'T MURDER MY FAMILY. RE:ZERO IS ACTUALLY GREAT)
It'll be said later on why Wilhelm blamed Reinhard for Theresia's death, yeah. They were being literal with the accusation, but not that he directly murdered her with like a weapon or anything- moreso indirectly killed her. Wilhelm also blamed Heinkel, because Heinkel refused to join the expedition to kill the White Whale, making Theresia join in his stead, and of course that's where she met her end. Funny non-spoiler trivia about Heinkel: He is fairly strong, but not anywhere near someone like Julius. As a kid he'd say he'd take over from Theresia as the Sword Saint, and Theresia would indulge him, but with the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint she could see that he had no talent. The gentle lie of a loving mother...
I find it funny that you're just so against Anastasia and her group for no reason despite the fact that she's arguably been the nicest and most helpful out of all the other candidates. If you think about it, when Subaru was being a dick in arc 3 and had already been turned away by Crusch and Pricilla, Anastasia just came up to him and gave him a free carriage and really helpful advice on how to negotiate and turn his situation around in exchange for weaseling some info out of him about Russell Fellow meeting with Crusch which she probably could have gotten from any number of other sources. Then she also helps him to secure his alliance with Crusch in the successful loop, lends both her mercenaries and knight to aid in the white whale fight and fight with Petelegeuse, and now she's treating them to free sushi. Sure she's probably trying to put them all in her debt, but she's still been really nice the whole time when she doesn't need to be. I just find it funny. That's all.
She's interest driven and you don't want a ruler to be interest driven, because making life good for the people is not always within their personal, best interest
Subjects exist for the king, but not the other way around. And as for capitalism, we live in a time when consumers are nothing more than a resource, deprived of any significant power and capital. It's funny that someone denies the pattern, hoping for a ruler in a system where the heralds of power are nothing more than tools for imposing the will of the wealthy. The average viewer, reasoning in childish terms of good and evil, is usually not very good with logic, and the fact that Anastasia spoke unflatteringly about Emilia at a meeting in the kingdom was enough for them to dislike it.
2:10:59 this one is kinda hard to put on the rewatch list since almost every scene in s1 that talked about other people being isekaid was cut from the anime
But like you said, the 3 known isekaid characters are AL, Flügel and Hoshin. Al was summoned around 18 years before subaru and almost immediately after was enslaved and lost his arm. He doesn't know why he was summoned and gave up trying to understand the reason. This was supposed to be told to us on s1e12, when him and Priscilla gave Subaru a ride to the castle. Flügel planted that tree and wrote "Flügel was here" in Japanese on it (should be around 18:13 from s1e19)(it's barely legible imo). In s2e18 Geuse apologized to him before taking the Sloth Witch Factor. Hoshin basically built Kararagi from scratch, being responsible almost entirely for its culture, architecture, clothes, accent etc. Almost everything we know about him was told by Anastasia this episode and, if it wasn't cut, s1e16.
Fun Fact: In the light novel Liliana and Subaru already knew each other and are happy to meet again. After arc 2 she stays in the mansion for a while because according to her someone is stalking her. But since that happened in a side story that wasn't adapted in S1, I guess it would be weird if they were already friends here without more context. Something interesting is that Liliana wants to tell her own song about a new hero and Subaru promises her that if he becomes one he will let Liliana be the first to create a song about his legend. Here in Priestella she tells him that after all he has been through he is already a hero and wants to start creating the song but Subaru replies that he is still half way there and has many things left to accomplish (In the manga there is an image of Rem when he says this). Wilhelm has a song about his story that is popular in that world and in the same way it is probable that this story closes with the song that Liliana creates about Subaru and the others.
We're SO BACK that kid was part of the group of kids Garfield saved I could be wrong but I remember him being there, I didn't even rewatch but I think I remember that the other name Tina was infact refering to what would be Garfield's little sister..I'm anime only btw I got this from the scene on the bridge..that cut of someone letting go of a rope..it was just a weird scene

this new season about to be fire ngl.....................
Welcome to the Dark knight Rises of anime
wow, nice amount of likes you got there on your pinned comment LOSER
fun fact: the author said that if subaru wasn’t the main character, he would want to write Heinkel as the main character instead

Every amazing series has that ONE character with the Gilgamesh archetype. They even have blonde hair and beautiful red eyes!
