"What better way to make someone a henchman than to make them think they are the good guy" that's.... surprisingly deep. like for real, you can get people to do anything if they think its for a good reason.
I don't know what the effect is called, but when a shape blends in with the background from some angles... maybe you could cleverly design the room and outfit and have a setup similar to this video, but instead of going up, Niko will just stand in the middle of the room and not be visible from the doorframe. Might be a little too hard to pull this off with human eyeballs and not a carefully selected camera angle.

In the vein of "Superhero Sleight of Hand"...maybe the next thing you guys could test would be instead of going through a doorway (as you would expect), going through a wall Superman-style and getting the jump on a criminal. Awesome to see you put it to the test. In the case of Spider-Man, you’re considering active and passive observation- people don’t look up much passively (I’ve chilled on many rooftops that I probably shouldn’t have and my legs hanging off the roof went entirely unnoticed if I was more than three stories up), but people are actually LESS likely to look up in situations like the one in which Sam was placed. He was expecting an armed combatant so his priority was clearing cover that could hide an armed assailant on foot. In college, my dorm's hallways were narrow enough that one could jump in the air and thrust out your limbs to catch yourself, one arm and one foot on each wall. Then, you could wall-crawl to the ceiling. I would routinely do that when I saw someone go into the bathroom and wait to drop down behind them and tap their head on the way down. If one of my friends who was in on the joke was out in the hall, he would loudly cough as I landed to distract from what little noise I made, and if the "victim" didn't bodily turn around but just looked behind him, he wouldn't see me. Then as they started to walk off, I would grab them around the ankle, scaring them.
This video was so fun!!! Love the confidence at the start 'you'd sense someone's presence' lol. I think it would be interesting to see another iteration of this where the person being chased is in a generic superhero costume. Not a spiderman one, but something that indicates maybe they're more than human. This obviously is perfect for when spidey is in plain clothes and they just think he's a guy, but I always find it frustrating when the baddies know that they're chasing a superhero and still don't look up. Maybe the laws of physics really are THAT ingrained in us - obviously you'd need a different set up and crew but it could be a fun follow up.

peripheral field of vision is what makes it hard you need tall ceilings. its like in FPS, like halo, if you jumped on top of stuff people didnt normally or go on top of you could stay hidden quite often. But games have limited vision angles...
Exactly. Usually they show Spider-Man like, 2 feet above the doorframe, to the point that he's visible before you even enter the room. If only the bad guys all wore fedoras lol

This working is proof that it works for Spidey, given that he'd be faster, quieter, and have actual webs. I'd love to see a full short using this idea!
The thing is though, if you know you’re up against Spiderman, who is know for wall crawling and all sorts of acrobatics I think you might look up more.
@boemboemize The problem is they don't usually know they're up against him until he webs you. And then his spider-sense lets him know where and when to move to stay out of sight.
"You should have brought an umbrella" That's why the Penguin is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains, wait... No he's from DC. But I imagine Penguin being more effective of a villain against Spider-Man on their first encounter if a web is blocked by the umbrella and Penguin might get away in a cloud of poison gas.
I've been watching your videos for such a long time now, and I'm looking forward to finally buying my first PC to do VFX. Your channel is a great inspiration!
Three issues. Would this work if the ceiling was a typical 10 ft. If it's a friend or family member who walks in not on an adrenaline rush, would they enter, look around, and leave without noticing. And lastly, if the henchmen know they're chasing spiderman, would they immediately check the ceiling
Good thoughts. I think if you're going all the way in the room, you'll see spiderman when you turn around, for sure. Just peripheral vision is going to get you noticed when an unusual object suddenly appears above the door -- humanoid or otherwise. It'd definitely work for Aunt May leaning in the doorway and not seeing Peter, but if she was going to ask if Peter had any dirty dishes and sees them on the desk, he'll be caught. In general, Aunt May doesn't know she's looking for Spiderman. If a henchman reads the Daily Bugle, I'd say it could go either way whether he would think to look up or not, but if Spiderman visits DC or Venice, they'll never spot him.
Man I love these office surprise videos. We were overdue for sure. Looks like I also missed a door in the loading dock on the Halo infinite map remake! 😅
He is right though, it's probably more of an evolutionary trait we don't know about somehow or it's something God gave us (if you believe that) but you can feel when people stare at you

Do more like these. A lot of people says bad guys always act dumb but in the spirit of a battle you are never looking at these odd places.
Hello Peter
Such a good set up and execution! Great idea. Thanks for sharing!

I've been watching your videos for such a long time now, and I'm looking forward to finally buying my first PC to do VFX. Your channel is a great inspiration!
Props to the camera guys on this one

SPIDER-NIKO
Please do more like this! Old-school Corridor vibes. Love the new higher quality releases. But I missed the antics like this lol. You guys are rad.
0:35 That kind of baloney nonsense coming from a texan is just on point, lmfao. Those people will literally believe any superstition you give them.
He is right though, it's probably more of an evolutionary trait we don't know about somehow or it's something God gave us (if you believe that) but you can feel when people stare at you
Sam's reaction was perfect. Such a hilarious idea, and you pulled it off amazingly, Niko! After you mentioned it on the podcast, I knew I had to see this xD
I love how this entire series has just been the epitome of "amazing nerds who have too much free time and money", and I'm all here for it. Amazing vid, Corridor Crew :)
This was so well done. Love these superhero videos. This is up there with the batman one imo. So good.
That was one of the most engaging ads I’ve seen in years. I was invested in watching it finish.
