My SikeClone is back! This DIY AWD Turbo S10 has already gone 4.2 seconds 0-60 and we are setting out to go even quicker! Based on low-buck mods, and lots of elbow grease, this little truck has been transformed from $1200 4x4 S10 into a sports-car killing machine! Watch Tony Angelo and the Stay Tuned crew install better boost control, and a proper LSD and hit the track to see just how much quicker the Sike Clone can blast to 60!

tony do you have Stay Tuned in 3XL??
Have Carly and it is garbage. Paid for the Upgrade to also get Car Coding that is a yearly subscription. Tried it on 4 separate vehicles a GM, VW, Toyota and a Ford. Save your money and get a good DTC reader/diagnostic tool.
*_Why no Brodix aluminum heads or GM aluminum heads?…_*
My favorite project on youtube, and considering the fact that it never fails to fail, I maintain that we need a Sike Clone vs Rotsun showdown. I know you're not with Motortrend any more, but this needs to happen.
Well, I think that's Finn's! We can make it happen.
@@StayTunedTA So you're saying there's a chance. We need this in our lives.
Yes, please. Best idea ever.😂
@finnegansgarage
Now that's what I'm talking about
29:00 is gold. Old man "It's gonna spin on you". Youngster "No I'm holding it" seconds before it spins and hits the concrete. LMMFAO!
Man alive. My heart just dropped when I seen that. We've all been there if you haven't had it happen. You haven't done it enough poor kid had to learn the hard way.😢
I thought Tony was going to go off!!! You could see the flames in his eyes after it dropped.
THAT LOOK. When experience of meets youth. Ya know he did that 20 years ago with no camera around lol.
100% old man moment. the look Tony gives the camera LOL. Ive gotten then look so many times and now Ive been able to give that look a good amount of times as well. The first time you give that look as a proper adult man is a pretty good feeling. Let me explain. As a 'kid' from 5 to 25 youre recieving that look right? some are getting it a lot. Then you keep learning and getting older, youre 32, you give the look to some 20yr old at work after a bonehead manuever you told him to avoid minutes prior, but it just feels like youre correcting a younger peer. But then maybe some grey hair starts setting in. you maybe gain some weight. youre back sometimes bugs you. you shoot that look to another 20 something kid and it hits you. You have reached old-guy-dad-told-you-so look level.
That diff was imitating the oil in that garage - spending good time ALL over the shop floor!
Got to the end. Fuel. Injection. Do a stand-alone with built in boost and transmission control. It’ll fix so many things.
Spending other peoples imaginary money is the internets favorite pastime👍
A Megasquirt MS2 should be able to handle it. They're not expensive.
@@KHALABEEB Buying new heads (or new engines) every 10 pulls isn't going to be much cheaper for long...
Having run a blow through carb in the past, EFI is truly the best for boost. Also, intercoolers save engines. Even blow through will benefit from an intercooler.
@@KHALABEEB we are the reason there is money to spend. It’s alright to comment and make suggestions guy
Tony's face after the diff hits the floor... You know he's been on camera too long to let out what he was thinking hahaha
They could always beep it.
“That’s pretty good”
T-shirt idea with Tony’s face when Zach dropped the diff ring gear hit the floor. Instant Classic.
Love how real your videos are. Not over produced. Real dudes doing real stuff
Two step and a trans brake, man this things going to be a rocket ship.
I had a big belly laugh at "I'm holding it" haha
I'm glad someone could laugh, lol.
Can you get rid of that guy he is a idiot
@@StayTunedTA Just that feeling when you tell someone... but they know better right up until they don't lol. Been there my dude so many times! If only you could get people to learn from your wisdom (i.e. old mistakes) instead of having to learn the hard way! Keep up the great work though! :) Just Subscribed. Will keep on watching, very good stuff! :)
I was in high school in the late 90s. One kid from the next town had the jimmy based typhoon. HS kid + turbo suv unfortunately didn't last long. It's long since crushed. It only lived as the "Typoon" for a brief few months.
(I swear most ppl forgot the suv version Typhoon even existed lol😂)
There is one in town I spotted a couple of years ago. ❤
One came into the garage I briefly worked at years ago! We were all pretty pumped. Ugly lil green SUV ripped! Total sleeper!
My buddy had the 2.8 blazer in high school, and we blew it up and dropped a 350/350 in it,and it was a menace lol
Typhoons were far more popular and made in 1992 and 1993 as the Syclone was really only a 1991 model, outside of 3 1992 versions... one was a DOT crash test donor and the other 2 are privately owned. Typhoons are way common to see these days too.
I definitely remember it. A couple in my area had both. The guy drove a syclone and the wife drove the typhoon. This was in the late 90s and early 2000s.
A few years ago, I saw a syclone in a garage, and stopped to ask about it. He said that he bought it from the same couple. Unfortunately, it wasn't running, but he was definitely working on it.
Loved the quick cut with the coolant flying out after pressurizing it! Props to the editor.
Glad you liked it!
Their editing for comedy is gold
28:55 Is a prime example of when someone says something potentially bad might happen, to step away and look it over with them for a minute and assess the situation at hand. Love the build btw
29:14 the face my brother gives me at least three times when i work with him
Tony your knowledge is so important. As a man who grew up without a father your teachings are helping me leaps and bounds
TA should have over a million subs!
Best front to back car show on the Tube!
It takes years to get a million.
Good ad read brotha. It's applicable to the audience, wasn't forced or out of place, well done. Now excuse me I have boosted 4WD launches to watch.
I want to replicate this build so bad. This is like 5 of 7 million TH-cam builds that is attainable and possible to do. Watching tavarish build a p1 and all is cool, but it would never be done by the casual watcher. I’m not saying I’m nearing the wrench turner or as knowledgeable as these guys but they have figured out almost all the nuances that could arise at this point. These guys are so relatable and that’s what makes this content so fun to watch. Could also be that they are also North easterners that love good pizza.
We've all heard the Syclone intro many times. We still love it.😁
HA, glad to hear it!
Lol 😆 next week if you don't know they build this 🤣 😂
On a stock style differential, you can easily remove them from the housing by leaving the center pin in it enough to be the fulcrum against the housing. Then, spin the pinion, using this motion to "knock" the diff out. Gear swaps are one of my specialties. I've done hundreds like this.
Good tip! That is a new one to me.
My grandpa showed me that trick about 15yrs ago.. its an amazing solution and never would have thought of it myself.. Funny, it musta been a thing a long time ago, as I have shown several really good "mechanics" and they were amazed and dumbfounded that they had never seen it b4..
@@Clutch_Kick187 oh crap! I'm officially old. I'm teaching "grandpa" tricks now. 🤣 in all seriousness, your grandpa sounds like a good old school mechanic.
Or throw a rag between the ring and pinion gear and turn pinion.
"Pizza greeze and filler rods" sounds like a t-shirt
Square S10s are the best. I personally love V8 cut and paste swapping them. Biggest I've personally done is a 307 out of a '70 pickup. Cruising at 55mph and slamming into 2nd with a 87 Camaro flooring shift shifter. Awesome. Especially when you can't afford an actual muscle car
That thing is an absolute beast! The sound of the engine at the end brought back terrifying memories for me on an engine that lost ring tension on almost every cylinder. I hope you can bring it back to 100% health soon. The silver lining is that this guarantees more SikeClone content!
Love the awesome display of patience giving back to the youth and being a great mentor, boss and friend to these kids. These guys will all cherish these memories you’re making with them.
Jeez, it's not like Tony is 50, for cripes sakes.
@@JeffKopis obviously, but he’s still mentoring these guys…… 45 isn’t exactly a kid anymore
My coworker snapped a ring gear bolt off doing a truetrak in his newer gmc truck on a Saturday at the shop. Luckily i stopped him from snapping more off before i told him they were reverse thread lol.Somehow we got that broken one out of the ring and saved it
WOW. That is some force! I probably learned the hard way about ring gears at some point.
Hahahahha. I also had a co worker break all 10 when i was out on lunch. He was like they are soooo tight 😂
To be serious for a second, I really love the stabilized camera shots now. The blair witch project shakes were a bit much for my old-ass self, making me dizzier than huffing gas fumes from a chopping tree fiddy with a hog-ass race cam.
😂😂😂😂
This thing is so amazing and such a heartbreaker at the same time
That is exactly right.
Honestly my favorite channel on the ole tubes. This is something anyone could build in their garage with a group of friends drinking beer and eating pizza. No god tier billet this or that. Appreciate you guys keeping it real and not trying to baffle people with BS.
Keep up the killer content guys, in case you read the comments, the 4.3L gm engine is a common industrial engine, there is a company that retrofits them for use in forklifts called PSI, they put forged crankshafts in them.... do what you will with this information
Even in Europe Jungheinrich put gm 4.3's in forklifts running on propane back in the day. The Germans know how to build engines and surely had many good homegrown options so it's testament to the 4.3 they went that way. Even with immense hours, abuse and neglect they were still completely reliable.
The way Tony just grabbed the diff and said "let's stick 'er in" you could tell he was still REALLY upset, but just going to run the thing anyway lol.
Been there.
The Carly saved me from buying a rolled back odometer on a 13 avalanche a couple months ago.. It was in really great shape and I would have, and did believe the mileage to be correct at 53,402 miles.. Plugged in the Carly, and found it really had 113,402 miles on it.. They rolled 60k off the odometer and you couldn't tell as it hadn't been to an actual dealer for service since 2017.. I kept quiet, left and called the local sheriff that is a family friend, and they are in some trouble.. Even though I feel bad for them, I didn't want the next unsuspecting buyer to end up with, and pay extra for a truck with an extra 60k miles than they paid for.. The sheriff found a toggle switch under the dash that turned off the odometer. The truck and everything still functioned perfectly, yet the odometer was blank.
Rat fink 🤣
They roll them back with a Tech 2 clone from China... Pretty easy to do really.
Most other channels: burnouts
This channel: GRIIIIIIIIIIIIP! (and then some big nasty burnouts)
Which is hilarious as an ex-pro drift racer we like to just grip and go too!
My wife had an 89 Astro van and I can hear the same creaks, squeaks and rattles coming from the Sike Clone when you’re driving around the track warming it up. Good times, great project. Let’s go!
you guys had that truck all lined out...... till you didn't! The sike clone is still awesome even if it fails almost every video! 😂😂
Zach was in a great mood this episode 😂
Agreed. He looked almost high while doing the intro. He brings the goofiness to the channel. Love these guys 😂
"And by freezer I mean outside in south eastern Pennsylvania. It's going to be 30* outside"
*Laughs in Canadian* that's cute.
South Dakota giggles as well.
Hook up the dummy light off the alt. If you throw a belt, that light will come on. Super easy on a 3 wire alt.
The highs and lows of this build show just how real it is. This thing will end up being an absolute killer.
At least the 4.3's are a dime a dozen.
The scariest one I've ever been in had 280k miles and a cheapo nitrous kit. Absolutely frightening amount of power available from a tiny little motor.
Still my favorite! The potential is there
I wish I could've messed around with the one in the 94 Sonoma I picked up not running. Guy said the motor was probably shot, but I took a chance. I replaced the CPI spider injector, nut kit, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fried starter... Yeah, it had a knock once it warmed up. Gave up and sold it.
I’ve had 2 newer S10s, and wanted to do this to both. I wanted an original Syclone so bad. I LOVE this project, and this channel!!
For the first time ever, I've found a channel that I look forward to watching. You guys are awesome! Thank you!
29:15 lmfao the straight face says it all. Warned him, didn’t listen, second later it’s on the floor. It’s peak male brain mixed with a little ego 😂😭
"I was holding it" t-shirt inbound
It should have a picture with the diff on the ground, or tonys disgruntled face. Lol
Best part about this channel is that they don't try to be anyone else. They know what they're good at and they are awesome. ❤
So much respect for your attitude. Knowing what you’ve been through and watching how positive TA remains is an inspiration. Can’t say it enough, love you and your boys are doing.
Thank you!
I think you guys need to show MT how to produce a car show, this is what the people want to see .!
These low buck projects are awesome! I want this one to run and stay running well so bad!
@46:56 that view from behind gives the best sense of speed. The dash cam shows ur reactions to it and thats cool too.
That toaster oven you threw in the trash are very good for powder coating little things perfect .
that look on tony's face when the posi unit ejected from the vice..... priceless.
Tony’s “disappointed father” face after the limited slip fell was priceless 😂 loving the Sike Clone but man I’m excited for the foxbody!
I love this channel . Although my build anxiety is real because it’s like every Friday you guys break something haha . That stuff happens tho and I’m glad you maintain that positive “we’re gonna make it better” attitude every time instead of giving up . Love the pizza surface area math too haha .
Don’t take this the wrong way but it’s nice to see you stumble on the way to finishing this project, it shows the reality behind these projects and I enjoyed how positive you were through it all. Looking forward to seeing the final success!
One of my favorite builds at the moment. I built a budget crappy 4x4 auto 4runner with a 2jz and slapped an 8$ turbo and water methanol injection using a garden pump sprayer. 4x4 launches in the wet is the greatest thing ive ever felt in any vehicle ive ever played with
I love seeing the Sikeclone out! Big fan of Stay Tuned in general. It has me working on my own truck now.
When he dropped that pumpkin Tony's dad face said it all. Inside.voice - I PHUCKIN TOLD U TO HOLD IT, I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO DROP IT. Outside voice - Well atleast it didn't get chipped. Inside voice - THANK GOD.
I've had a crap day here in Summerville SC, I just got home and there's the cure for what ails me.....a new Stay Tuned!!!!
Hey, thanks for watching! Hope it gets better from here.
😂 who also was waiting for the carrier to just launch into orbit! 😂 funniest thing all day.
You do a great job picking just the right amount of upgrades to get done every week and have a payoff at the end. Really very impressive and professional.
I like seeing old maple grove. I lived in Ephrata Pa for 20 plus years. We were into air cooled vws back in the day.
Just tuning up the old red dragon, took the restricter plate off, but we will keep that on the down low…
Love the channel, keep up the good work.
I’m bummed out.. it’s like a bible of projects. It shows you the great 10 minute joy followed by days of troubleshooting. Tony I need a 22re or a LS build that is one and done :) hope the 911 is that , also hope YT and sponsors are keeping the team happy. The series is truly a crash course.
Its perfect. Love the s10, always loved thd typhoon and cyclone. This build is insane.
This has quickly become my favorite channel on YT.
glad you are on YT, a lot of those shows were becoming hard to watch just on their schedule or platform. Here I can watch you when ever. Maybe invite some of your old crew to work with the new crew?
44:45 We're just gonna ignore it's a 5 cylinder now.
46:38 Knock knock. Who's there?
48:07 "It's too high. I felt that." It's probably fine. Maybe.
48:34 "You still there buddy?" Not at all! BUT HEY! 4.59!!!! Not bad for a V3.5 !!!
4:42:15 Honey, I need a new engine for my truck...
lol yeah that motor wasn't sounding too good by the end, maybe tonys been working on a volvo lately or something
I've loved following this build! You should bring it to the Pro Touring Truck Shootout in Bowling Green, KY in April
🤣you are on 5 cylinders @ 43:54, You were so excited that you overlooked the miss.
God I love you guys. The back and forth between great friends is so fun to watch.
A good move for torquing ring gear bolts is to just use the press to hold the carrier down. Works fantastic everytime (obviously pressing on the housing where the bearings press onto)
8:35 the good old “delta creeper” , especially when paired with a bad cast manifold placed over an offset runner. 6lb spring got you 9 at least
Love the build👍
Yessir, those were the days!
some real cowboys working in the shop with you, old man was a good sport about it though. I guess it only takes once or twice of launching the diff into your face to learn how to use a pry bar. love the content, keep it coming.
I think it got the timing chain. It looked like it over revived a bit on the 4.59 pass; there was smoke at what I assume was the 1-2 shift.
Great project, love the channel, well done!
This is my favorite TH-cam build! I seriously hope that y'all bring/drive this bad boy to Sick Week next year! I have a feeling this project won't be done until the drivetrain is totally built with EFI, meth, line lock, and trans brake. Even with those additions, y'all will still be in under the cost of a stock BaT unit. 🤘🏻
Love this truck! If you aren’t breaking shit, you’re not making it faster! Can’t wait to see what’s next for this thing!
It's one of my favorite builds. Love this truck in action. 😊
The face of disappointment was perfect “I’m holding it” boom lol
Thanks for the content gentlemen
Love your enthusiasm….. BIG TIME.
Dropping the ring gear on the pavement for the second time had me rolling. " I got this man, I'm holding it."
It’s crazy cuz the garage is small but the lighting and camera world is very high production makes it look like a movie set
Hell yeah!!! Great work!!! It’s getting better!!!!
Love these videos. Excited to see the journey of the little red pickup.
The rag trick for carriers will keep it from Geronimoing out of the rear end housing. Stuff a rag between the ring gear and the bottom of the housing, then turn the pinion until the ring gear wedges the rag and walks out.
It would be fun if the Stayed Tuned garage started to have a side biz that was diy sikeclones for new clients. What a cool build and knowledge base.
Leave the truck in neutral and toss a rag or two in the diff when you go to pull the carrier. Rotate it around with your prybar and the rag will walk between the ring and pinion and gently push the carrier out so it doesn’t fly out onto the floor
It's just going to keep getting better guys keep on sending it
94.5 to 97 7.3 powerstroke had no wastegate, I even ran a smaller non gated housing on my 94.5 with bigger injectors and would push roughly 40 psi of boost and almost 1:1 boost vs drive pressure.
The upset dad look when the carrier fell to the ground…… I felt that.😂
I love the bantering. You know when your boys when ya can give each other some heckling. I missed this part of the build it was good one. Be sweet to see a build with the s10 blazer with like a I6 gm 4.2 those are underrated with a turbo. Or the vortect 4.3 in the late 90's had some nut. Or s10 with the 2.5 iron duke quad 4
NVU gauges are super easy to wire! really only need a few wires from the harness for power, lights and signal wires and kit comes with Temp and pressure sender and programmable fuel!
Sweet build love it
You can use a box end wrench on the ring gear, wedge it against the housing as you rotate the ring gear witch a socket and ratchet and it will pop out less drama.
I had the Typhoon mini blazer back in the day it was fun but it lasted about as long as this does ... run break run break lol finally ended up yanking the motor/trans and went to a 350 small block and was just as much fun but far more reliable if im being honest and only being rwd after it did great burnouts and donuts
Perpetual motion content machine… Build, break, rebuild… Then do it all over again! 😂 Great content! Keep it coming!
we see the potential. remember failure is always an option and it's from failure that we make progress. Keep pushing.
Sweet! Another great vid TA!! Love the sike-clone project!
This build gives me the motivation to finish the Typhoon sitting in my garage.
It is definitely my favorite build on utube ,hands down, keep it going.!!
Awesome build! Everybody making concrete drops on that helpless ring gear and poor little 4.3 was sounding pretty hurt before that last launch but you sent her anyway! Lol!
My favorite project on youtube. Even when shit breaks i dont care. Every break is a step to improve it. Atleast it was a new problem lol. Best project 👍
Another great video guys love the channel! Pretty sure Lucky is working on one of these as well. Would be cool to see you guys get together with a match up on these. I’m sure you’re final version will be the champion 💪💪💪
